What ABN Discounts Are There?

I finally got myself an ABN to do some commercial work and have quickly applied for a Bunnings Power Pass (which I believe gives me a 10% discount).
Are there any other places where an ABN will give you a discount?
I seem to remember that there's a Good Guys (or Bing Lee, I always confuse those places) commercial website that has good deals at times?

Power Pass is only 5%. You can also apply for JB Solutions, Good Guys Commercial, Samsung EPP, Apple EPP, BP and Costco

    • It changes depending on how big/important of a customer you are. 5% is the base one but it's more on some things like timber.

I think 40% or so is the max, but I don't think it goes all the way on some items.

      • 5% is not the base as some items don't qualify for any Power pass discount (not even 5%). Such items I've noticed are BBQ and related accessories.

From my understanding, the variation in discount depends on which industry the Power Pass registered ABN is from. So a plumbing business will get higher discounts on plumbing supplies etc

        • In base I mean lowest level. 5% on most things. Some things are "trade prices". Some things with thin margins might not let you have any discount.

I don't think I had a trade one, I worked at a factory so maybe they just couldn't figure out what we counted as.

          • @Zephyrus: If I remember correctly, the applicant is asked to select which industry it is from during application. Mine’s applied under a general business account since other options are not relevant.

            • @trex: For my application I also did general since we are a software company. I get 5% on almost everything except on things that are discounted and are deemed non essential for work like furniture. But I can get paint at 20% off if I buy two cans.

            • @trex: I actually rang Bunnings Trade support to clarify this as my business too would not fit any of the categories stated and they told me that the discounts are the same across the board and they only use the industry classification to decide the nature of marketing emails being sent out to you. Has anyone experienced otherwise?

              • @websterp: My memory could be wrong but in my Power Pass application about 3 years ago, I remember reading somewhere that discount varies by industry. Things might have changed since then.

PSA : be aware that using Power Pass to purchase tools will void DIY warranty.

      • I think 40% or so is the max

40% discount? Call me crazy, but I find that hard to believe.

I've heard that from one guy and he said it was possibly an error by them trying to discount one item and doing it by adding a very large Powerpass discount.

    • How does one get Apple EPP and does it offer the same or different discounts to the education store?

      • You can apply via the Business Portal. Discounts start at 3%, but gets progressively better to a maximum of 15%. Might be more for bigger businesses.

    • Depending on how you are classed, it might only be zero on some items (which has already been mentioned). I've only had mine for @ 9 months.
Download the PowerpassApp, which despite being heavy on room, is well worth it. Tells you which aisle something is in when you use it in-store, if its in stock etc.
