Garmin Forerunner 945 Running Watch $749 (Was $999) at rebel

160

Garmin 945 eventually on sale at Rebel. Almost all the other top end models have been on sale recently and now it’s the 945’s turn. 25% off is a decent saving. Seems like stock available in store and for delivery.

The 935 is almost half the price of this
Is there a difference with this and the 935?

The 945 is only 1 year old and currently top of the line in the forerunner series. Big differences are full topo maps, music, Garmin pay as well as a huge range of additional running and other metrics. Whether that’s worth the difference is the big debate. I have the 935 and it is rock solid but I really want maps!!

Different GPS chip also resulting in longer battery life

    • I have had both and currently use the 945. Extra features like pay and music make it a worthwhile upgrade. There were some issues with the buttons on the 945 but this seems to have been resolved now. This is an awesome watch, highly recommended, check out DC Rainmaker if you want more info on the differences.

    • I have a 935 and love it, unless you want Garmin pay and music on the watch get the 935, no issues with it, battery life is very good. Plenty of sites reviewing both watches side by side https://www.clevertraining.com/blog/garmin-forerunner-945-vs…

    I want a Fenix deal :'(

    • The Fenix deal just finished. $899 for the 6 Pro. It was available at Amazon for $849 (currently $888).

      • Is this a good price

I got Rebel to price match Amazon AU for the Fenix 6 Pro $849 (I had the Fenix 6 for the $599 deal and the back button was stuck in- they refunded and I paid the difference). At first I didn't think id need maps etc, after having the Fenix 6 for a month I wish I had gotten maps- went on long hikes, trails etc and would often come to an impass after winging it (my fault for not properly researching the route) a 10km would turn into 18-20km etc.

After getting the Fenix 6 Pro I was a lot happier, maps are unreal, Garmin Pay (not to fussed about the hack) and music is a good motivator- I don't need my phone its a great investment.

Garmin 6 Pro brings happiness, that's all I need to validate a purchase.
Gave up my 20% JBHI coupon a couple of weeks ago to bring the 6 pro down to 700 odd, I'll wait for another deal :D

        • That's an insane price (y)

  • Note there are a number of rumors the 955 will be out soon.

945 is a good piece of kit (I have it), and this is less than $ than you'd get using the BUPA 20% Garmin discount

    • It's the Bupa discount off full RRP only?

I can't wait for Garmin Forerunner 975 to be released so that I can buy 945 for a decent price then! Just purchased 935 a month ago and couldn't be happier. Battery lasted almost 3 weeks on the first charge and now after almost a week and half, it's still sitting at 41% today. I previously had Samsung smartwatch and never used the music on the watch and very rarely used Samsung pay for the year I owned it so I realised that Garmin 935 would just be right for my needs (walking, occasional cycling and jogging, sleep tracking and basic smartwatch features likes phone notifications etc.) compared with 945.

Agree the 935 is a great watch at $399. As someone who runs ultras in off beat locations the maps on the 945 is a great feature.

      • Can't find the 935 for $399. Whereabouts?

  • Google Garmin OHR Cracking

    • Of thousands of garmin devices sold every year, how many have had their OHR crack?

      • I've had mine replaced twice in the last two years.

        • I’ve also had two watches replaced - a 645 and 935. Have owned the 945 since it was released without any signs of cracking (yet).
