2018 Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz (Barossa): 6pk for $180 ($30/Bt, RRP $48/Bt) w/ Free Delivery @ Cellar One (Free Membership Req)

160

Given the popularity of the deal at MyWineGuy on the 2017 vintage, I thought I would post this deal for the newly released 2018 vintage. RRP is a whopping $48 (can't imagine many people would pay this), while Dan Murphy's has is for $33.30 in a 6-pack + shipping.

Cellar One have this for $180 in a 6-pack, or $30/btl including delivery. New members to Cellar One will be able to get the price down to $160, or $26.7 per bottle using a membership referral.

The 2018 vintage has already received 96pts from Andrew Caillard: Deep crimson. Intense blackberry roasted chestnut paneforte aromas with dark chocolate notes. Richly flavoured and supple with fresh dense blackberry mulberry fruits, fine plentiful chalky tannins, lovely mid-palate volume and underlying roasted chestnut oak/ paneforte/ fig complexity. Finishes chocolatey firm. A classic Barossa Shiraz with rich fruit, oak and acidity neatly balanced. 14.5% alc Drink now – 2035.

The Filsell rates 4.0 on Vivino across all vintages (no reviews on the 2018 yet), but this is a wine that appears to be fairly consistent across vintages.

Regularly goes on sale for ~$24 or $22.

This is a new vintage, released about a week ago, so it's unlikely to go get down to those prices anytime soon (although hopefully I'm wrong). The RRP also appears to have gone up a few dollars compared to the 2017 vintage, so we may see a new sale price in the range of $25-27.

Ah you're right - it is a new vintage, my bad!

$30 is probably a reasonable price then

Really good wine (never pay RRP).

You’ll probably get it cheaper by $5 a bottle if you wait 12-18mos. But if you’re after this vintage now then may as well grab it at this price.

Especially if you’ve got some referral coupons sitting there to be used.

It's way too young to drink now, don't you think?

I had a bottle of the 2017 a few weeks ago - it was drinkable, but will definitely benefit from some more time. I imagine the 2018 would be similar. When I order a 6-pack, I normally try one straight away and then place the rest in storage.

Had a bottle of 2005 vintage with friends last Xmas. It aged beautifully and opened up after a couple of hours in a decanter.
Not sure I'd buy it at current prices for such a long storage though. Back in 2008 it was $100 for a pack of 6.
