Penfolds Father Grand 10yo Tawny $7 Shipped (Membership Registration Required) @ Penfolds

1140
SINGAPORE25

Firstly this is thanks to a post on the Australian Frequent Flyers forum https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/threads…

Step 1:
You need to be a club member with Penfolds which can be joined here https://www.penfolds.com/en-au/wine-club/friends-of-penfolds

Step 2:
Once a member, you can use the coupon code SINGAPORE25 to take $25 off your purchase. I believe members get free delivery. Theres some extra discount on the Father Grand Tawny port which brings it down from $40 to $7 delivered. Go for a few bottles of cheaper port if you wish or another nicer bottle of wine. I'm still waiting on my free barrels from the Jacob's Creek Double Barrel promotion so got the port in anticipation of that.

Remember to pay via Credit Card only. No PayPal unless you're happy to kiss your money goodbye

Feel free to suggest other great wine deals and help support an Australian business who allegedly might be dumping wine at below cost anyway… https://www.afr.com/companies/agriculture/treasury-wines-in-…

    Why????

  • This discount can be applied to any wines, I got a bottle of Chardonnay.

  • Nice!…Here we go again!

  • site extremely slow lol. just out of curiosity why paypal wouldn't work?

    • Paypal charges 2.6% + $0.30 per paid for business. Visa normally charges roughly around 1% for business. I guess it is the same way that many stores don’t accept American Express.

  • There's no paypal option when I tried to pay.

but this is a good deal!!

Think the penfolds website just got ozbargained. Very unresponsive.

    • +4

yep its a Denial of Father Grand (DoFG) attack

    • gonna be a good morning for Penfolds sales - in terms of numbers of bottles only of course

  • Damn you guys work fast, only received my twitter notification and the site already bugging out

  • Wonderful, thank you. :)

thats what happens when China stops buying, us locals get cheaper products

    • +3

true, but it shows you the price disparity because of whats happening. Wine for example in Europe is dirt cheap but we pay through the nose for it in Australia. Even stuff like Wagyu has taken a price dive (which was great!). Also check out the size (and price) of strawberries in Coles/Woolies, amazing prices on A-grade stuff that was probably meant for export. The downside is that it shows you how much our economy relies on China demand.

  • website crashing, dang it

Damn it! Should have jumped on this instead of prioritising work!

    • Work can wait; Bargain can't wait.

  • Can someone link me to the bottle please, buying for the old man but have no idea about whine to navigate through that site lol

    • +1

Click the posting's image. But out of stock.

      $35 from Dan's

  • @OP

AFR has a paywall… Most can't read it. Can link to free article next time?

    • too bad the old "incognito" trick doesn't work lol

      • If you have super slow internet (like most NBN users), could try stop - refresh on your browser. That'll do for AFR lol

    • Basically our brilliant federal cabinet is being targeted. The government's stupidity got Treasury wine to where it is now. New Zealand isn't affected and neither is France…just us.

Essentially with Trump's trade policy with China, there a "USA first" policy. So China is buying from them now whereas before they would be buying wine from us.

  • Getting through to buy an alternative wine but the apply button next to promo code seems to have been disabled ?

EDIT: not disabled but getting only one promo code per order message and no additional discount

    • also having this problem

      • +1

I think I've worked it out, they seem to have put a minimum spend of (maybe) 100 after discounts.

        • So is it out of stock, or need to spend??

I bet they planned on only selling a few dozen.. ended a few hundred LOL

          • +1

@pharkurnell: The code is valid across the entire website with a min spend of 100. So, all the tawnys are OOS, however there are a number of other products in stock.

  • My god Wynns seem to have a better website than Penfolds…

    • +1

I don't think so, this deal was just posted at primetime when everyone is at work refreshing ozb.

      • lol

  • +1

just saw the above comment, need to order at least $100 to get the discount now

  • Anyone know what the 2015/2016 vintage fortified is like compared to grandfather tawny ?

  • Awwww.. missed it

  • -1

These are aged and may not be good anymore.

    • unopened port can last for decades.

      • tawny vs vintage

      • Woosh! These ARE 10 years old…

  • I have Penfolds 407 (2011). How long can we keep the wine? Our family dont fancy wines but normally I will buy and keep in case I need to give a present.

    • easy answer - it varies.

Temperature is a big key, if its sitting under a bed and gets hot and cold then it will go bad quicker, if its kept well (say in a basement which doesnt see much temp change) then likely longer.

Bin 407 is a pricey one, so its quality control is probably a bit better than others

Tasting notes imply drinking up to 2025 (dependent on cellaring)

      • +2

I would strongly suggest you send me one, you know…just to make sure its ok to drink

    • 2011 is a lesser vintage itself, though penfolds added some 2012 grapes to their 2011 wines, if my memory was correct. Of course within legal % allowed.

I'd say 2025 is conservative. Any penfolds will drink nicely at least for 20 years IMO. They really get good grapes based solely on their buying power.

  • Website is back up but you do indeed now need to order more than $100 for the coupon to work.

  • I don't seem to be able to actually BUY it though. There is nothing there to click that says 'buy now' or anything of that sort. I joined the Penfolds club as advised and made sure I was logged in first. I am guessing this means there are none left, as some of the other varieties do have a buy now/add to cart option.

    • Yep probably sold out. Got my shipping confirmation today from Penfolds and Auspost.

      • Shame. Oh well, enjoy!
