TREATYOURSELF

I received an email from TomTom telling me they want to know my birthday, but in the meantime I can use the code TREATYOURSELF until it really is my birthday. It states that it's for use 'on a new satnav' but I tried a variety of items, including maps and accessories, and the code still applied. It also says '7 days only' so I've put the expiry date as 21 Sept, but may be dependant on when the email is received.

There's free shipping on some items, notably new navigation devices, but other items attract a delivery fee (e.g. accessories). I suspect the pricing may be in USD, there's nothing to indicate whether it's AUD or not so I would advise budgeting for USD just to be safe. Here's a sampling of prices:

AU or NZ 3-month update was $84.95 - now $67.96
AU or NZ annual subscription was $89.95 - now $71.96

Start 52 in-car stanav was $169 - now $135.20 - free shipping
Via 52 in-car stanav was $199 - now $159.20 - free shipping

Rider 550 motorcycle satnav was $599 - now $479.20 - free shipping

  • I’d like to know why people still use these outdated things, where you have to pay for map upgrades after a certain time !
Do any of them have live Community updates like Waze has ?

  • Cheaper to buy a new TomTom every 2 years and get a faster one with free updates for the life of the device than to pay for updates.

I prefer a dedicated nav system and the ripoff my car company wants for updates to their (outdated) maps is ridiculous - I'm looking at you Toyota!
