IKEA Free Delivery till Nov 11th (Min $250 Purchase)

451

I haven't seen Ikea give away free delivery before. So this is a good deal if looking to buy furniture. The condition is min purchase $250 and made between 5pm and 9pm.

Not bad. Their delivery charges are normally quite high compared to other furniture shops, and for large items not something you can do without. Wonder if it applies to $250 worth of meatballs and pastries from their restaurants.
Oh wait - only for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. May want to put this in the description.

I also noticed at our new Springvale Ikea that they have free delivery for weekday shoppers with no mention of minimum purchase. I didn't read the fine print though.

And should add on only from "Monday 7th November 2011 to Friday 11th November 2011 between 5pm and 9pm "

  • Does this include kitchens?

Is it King (or Kings) Delivery which operates at the Rhodes store? If so, just be warned that they are the laziest and worst delivery company I have ever used.

One time they refused to take the goods via the lifts up to my apartment level. They even asked me via the intercom to go down to ground level and bring a friend with me to HELP THEM lift things.

Once I was down on ground level to meet them, a very blokey delivery guy put the delivery paper to my face and ask me to sign . I refused to sign and said I wanted them up on my floor. They then had no choice and delivered them to my floor. There's a 50kg table, tv cabinet & two book shelves which I would have no way to move them up my place in less than 30 mins. So much for their delivery service.

    • Got the same experience with the Richmond store in Melbourne. The Indian delivery guy literally asked me to unload the truck and carry everything by myself >_<

Ikea knows how dodgy King/Kings is but it just doesn't care…

      • That's a classic!

  • NOT Ikea Adelaide, South Australia :+(

  • I noticed this on Lifehacker AU too: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2011/11/dealhacker-ikea-free-de…
    Could save a few $$$!

  • Hopefully this deal doesnt get highlighted for the rest of the week just cos its IKEA :S

It is really important to note that this offer is valid only for transactions (hence purchases) made between 5pm and 9pm.
    Please include in the title.

    • yep, included in description now.

  • I was in there this afternoon (springvale) and we bought $3k worth of stuff.. Was in the line at 5.10pm and went through quite smoothly… It's just a shame that both springvale and richmond didn't have all the items I needed so will have to go back.. AGAIN :(

    It saved us $130 :)

  • Its a shame you can't purchase things online, Ikea is a 40+ minute drive for me and I can fit most Ikea products in my car anyway.

I guess it means you can buy a lot though.

  • hmmm, so no free delivery to Cairns. That headline had me already planning our kids bedroom makeovers.

Went to the Richmond store today and took advantage of this offer.
I think only certain delivery zones are covered so please check to make sure. We live close in Zone A so we saved $50.
Also, be prepared for a wait after purchase in the delivery queue. We waited over 30 mins, was in queue 7:40pm, served 8:15pm. Not bad but there were many waiting and only 4 people serving. It was like checking luggage in at the airport!
One more thing, they are not flexible with delivery times and will most likely deliver next day.
I'm pretty happy because we were going to buy stuff anyway this week. Good timing!
I can only imagine this will get busier over the next few days so I would recommend going tomorrow or Wednesday night, avoid Friday and Thursday.

  • oh man, when is Ikea coming to ACT?

    • +1

Check out bring it home (google it) they could help you out with getting ikea stuff to ACT. Found them by chance, never used them as I live in Vic!

      • yes but they charge around $99 for this and I will be buying on per month basis(instructables).

        • Considering Ikea charge $50 to deliver $500 of stuff literally up the road, paying $99 is pretty good, but I understand if you're doing monthly orders the conveinence of bdeing able to pick it up.

  • Update: We just received our delivery.. at 8.45pm heheh… poor guys started out at 5am, and still have a few runs left to go! omg..

  • It said "Offer only valid between 5pm and 9pm and only in zones A, B and C."
Anyone can tell what is exactly on that zone?

    • Depends on which store you are talking about - probably best bet to go have a look on the ikea website under home delivery, I think they are listed there.

  • free unreliable delivery is not a bargain to me. got a call they will deliver today. a whole day waiting at home and still nothing.
