Looking to Get a Clothes Dryer around $500 Range

Hey Guys I got a F&P 7Kg Washer and now thinking about getting a dryer.

Went to TGG today and they suggested to get a Electrolux 6/7KG Sensor dryer instead of F&P.

Need a suggestion guys. Also do I wait for Boxing Day sale or it should be OK to get one now?

Thanks

Unless you need it urgently, may as well wait for a sale. Its starting to warm up anyways..

    • I am not in a hurry, just started the research .. any suggestions on the brand?

You must do a lot of cleaning if you want a dryer just for cloths.

    • what else do u use a dryer for?

  • I've had my F&P ED56 dryer for around 11-12 years and it's still going great, even after it fell off off the wall onto concrete due to incorrect mounting. It's only 4.5kg and a standard vented model, but when/if this one kicks the bucket, I have no issues getting another F&P. I bought a new F&P front load washer too, have had it for about a month now, very happy with it so far.

  • Clothes dryers can use a lot of energy, consider how much you will use it, don’t just buy the cheapest one as it may cost more, if it isn’t an energy efficient model.

We have a dryer but it, mainly, fills the hole next to the washer. We use airers to dry most of our clothes. The dryer is only used if e.g. I need to dry a Doona in winter.

  • Buy a plastic coated steel rope from Ebay etc. Wrap on fence when needed but remove it else it can hurt your neck when you walk into it.

Buy UV resistant cloth pegs. Total cost is 1like 20 AUD and you can check weather in BOM app and dry it or free.

    • Dont think my apartment will allow it

  • For what it's worth, I have a F&P that I bought in 1996 and it is still working fine. Gets used 2-3 times a week.

Only thing that has happened is that the catch on the door snapped about a year ago. The catch also activates the cut out switch when the door is open so it needs to be attached.

I used 24hr epoxy to glue it back on and its been fine since.

    • if it was not bought by Haier recently (2012) i would have no 2nd thoughts.

  • I got plastic covered wire, the ones they use on clothes line, and I run that inside; got to have good hooks
Stuff rainy days and power bills, it cots me nothing after the initial small outlay :p

  • We have a Miele, probably used 6 times a year by hubby. He loves it especially for towels.
Also apparently it auto adjust the time it'd dry depending on what you put in. So you'd never have the pain of over or under-dry.

  • Bought the Electrolux 6 kg sensor dryer with TGG 10% off and 5% off on gift card

  • Depend how much you use, heat pump dryer may save quite a bit of money in long term. I just paid $773 for a Beko 7kg heat pump dryer, but it takes few weeks to be delivered. Check energy rating compare models.

    • How are you finding that model? Are you noticing much difference in efficiency and how well it works as I am looking for a heat pump dryer as well
