You need to complete 1 x challenge to get an exam voucher, though it is worth it considering that exam vouchers are usually US$165. This voucher is valid for a lot of exams, only close thing to this I have seen is free Azure Fundamentals voucher for 5 hour webinar.

Eligible exams: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/micros…

"Participate in the Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge to earn a free Microsoft Certification exam and a chance to win prizes! Choose up to six different challenges to complete on Microsoft Learn. After you’ve completed your first challenge, you’ll earn a free Microsoft Certification exam. For each challenge you complete, you’ll earn five entries into a sweepstakes. One grand prize winner will receive a chance to meet with a Microsoft leader and invite up to four friends."

"How does the challenge work?

The Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge is comprised of six, subject specific challenges. You can participate in as many as you’d like—the more you complete, the more sweepstakes entries you earn.

Each challenge is based on a specific collection of Microsoft Learn modules. Finish the collection before the challenge closes to earn sweepstakes entries and credit for your completion."

"Free Microsoft Certification exam
After you've completed your first challenge, you'll earn a free Microsoft Certification exam. The exam will be associated with this account for use starting on October 14, 2020. If your Learn account is different that the account you use for Microsoft Certifications, that's okay—you'll have the opportunity to link your account when you redeem this prize."

    Great time to upskill ourselves!

  • Thanks for posting this. A month is plenty to prep for exam.

    • Microsoft ones must be easy then. Networking ones take a lot longer.

    • +3

Why a month? The exam is valid until March next year

      • Phrasing was a bit ambiguous, I mean if you want to take it as soon as you get the voucher.

  • having just done the azure fundamentals webinar in the last month, i hope there is less dramas getting the free exam to apply

    Are Microsoft leaders like celebrities?

    • Probably not, but I don't think the target audience for this is the same as The Bachelor, for instance.

  • If you pretend to own a business and enquire about microsoft enterprise software Microsoft Leaders will come and find you!!

    • That's just the sales staff

      • Depends how big a business you pretend to be

    Thank you OP!

    Thanks OP !

  • "Each challenge is based on a specific collection of Microsoft Learn modules". There are hundreds of modules. How do I start studying to complete a challenge? I'm only starting with Windows 10 and Azure fundamentals course…

  • Never heard of this before. Is it generally something only certain professions would be into?

    • I'm a software developer, and have done dozens of Microsoft certifications over the last 20 years or so, because most companies would pay for me to take them, and some would even give a salary bump.

However, most companies still value experience over certifications when hiring.

  • Oh shit, is this valid for the Power BI cert?
    Please tell me yes.

    • Yes.

Among others, it's valid for DA-100: Analyzing Data with Microsoft Power BI

      • Wow, that's amazing. Saved myself so much $.

  • Nice find op

  • How many challenges are available?

    • +1

      6 in total

      • so 6 certification coupons?

        • +1

No. One certificate coupon but you can choose out of 6 challenges.

"This exam offer may be redeemed to take one (1) Microsoft Certification exam, delivered at an authorized Pearson Vue testing center or through a Pearson Vue online proctoring site."

  • Do you have to attend the Ignite convention as well?

    The Microsoft website says the below;

"All PARTICIPANTS of Microsoft Ignite who complete at least one collection in the Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge are eligible for a free certification exam, subject to Terms and Conditions, to help you continue skilling up and prove your technical expertise to employers and peers."

    and

"This exam offer is available to eligible individuals who attend Microsoft Ignite AND complete one collection in the Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge."

"This exam offer is available to eligible individuals who attend Microsoft Ignite AND complete one collection in the Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge."

Ignite this year is a virtual event, making it easy to attend.

  • +1

Do I have to be present on the first day (22 Sep) or I have to attend all talks during the event?

  • Anyone get an email for the 22nd about this at all?

    • Registration will go live on September 22, 2020 at 12:00AM PDT.

      aka 5pm aest

  • Did anoyone got email after they complete the first challenge?

    • No i completed my first challenge last night and haven't gotten anything

      • How long it takes roughly to complete first challenge?

    • Same here, haven't gotten anything yet.

    • You will get email on 12 or 14 October about how to redeem your voucher, it will be assigned to your email. Not sure about the ignite event, just watched a few events to be sure.

      • I watched a talk for 2 minutes. Tonight I received an email thanking me for attending and to complete a survey. Is it going okay?

        • Not sure, not in their Term of uses. So just be sure you have your challenge done before the time is over.

      • That 12 or 14 Oct email is for how to.
so that means, before that date, we should already have the voucher?

        • Check the link from this post. They updated the date. No late that 15 oct you will get your instruction on how to redeem your voucher for the exams. You had to be registered for the Ignite event and your email linked.

          • @MagicOZ: I have registered, linked email and completed one entire challenge.
            Now waiting for the voucher.

"15 oct you will get your instruction on how to redeem", so hope this also includes the voucher itself.
Because from the English words, it is about 'How to redeem'. It is an instruction.

    • No, I did not receive any email.

  • Ok what if I just do the challenge I missed the event

  • I keep clicking join the challenge and it keeps asking me to sign in..

  • Has anyone received theirs yet?

EDIT: Re-read the post should be expecting it starting on the 14th

  • Yep I got the confirmation email just now

    • me too, but tried scheduling an exam, and not valid yet for me. have you tried?

      • same here, got the email but no discounts yet.

        • same here confirmed that I am eligible for the code but when enter the email id while scheduling the exam says not discount not applicable for the email id. Confused !!

    • Got the email just now.
The Eligible exams are very narrow. Only in three categories, Azure, Dynamics 365 and Power Platform and Microsoft 365.

      • +2

The eligible exams were listed right from the beginning.

      • Can we claim the voucher but schedule the exam later?

        • The "voucher" is already applied to your account. When you are ready to schedule an exam, you will be able to use it.

  • Good received in my account. Worth rushing the materials online

  • I have not received any email with voucher or any sort of confirmation whatsoever. Anybody else in the same boat as me?

  • did not get any emails so far
