pretty shit from sony… all base versions with 0 dlc even though all old games many of which have previously featured on ps plus

gamepass however frequently has complete versions with all dlc…

  • +1

It's a good start, hopefully they add more as time goes on.

  • +2

With gamepass you get access to new games that come out plus 100's of other titles.

With PS plus you get access to 18 old PS4 games that you've probably already bought.

  • +1

Quite surprised Horizon isn't included in this, especially when the sequel may not be too far away.

    • Ditto with Spider-Man

      • +1

Remember that they're selling the new remaster of Spider-Man as a PS5 launch title so it's doubtful you'll see it on this service for at least a year or two until they get as many sales of that as they can.

        • Miles Morales isn't a remaster, and the base game is only included in the 'Ultimate Edition.' They could have included Spider-Man on this list and given new owners a free taste of the first game.

    • -1

More games will be added for sure
This will just be the launch of the service.
This will def expand to include more games and other non Sony devs will add games.
I suspect this will be a precursor to a sub service like games pass.

  • +1

Are they enhancing these games for PS5?

    • I doubt that.

Spider-Man bundled with Miles M will have a graphics upgrade though.

  • Price in title?

    • Free with subscription service.

      • -1

        Which costs how much?

        • Would you like fries with that?

        • +2

As far as I know, there's three different ways you can pay (in AUD) for your subscription:

          1 month costs $11.95
          3 months costs $33.95
          1 year costs $79.95

          • @tlphx: There are a few specials - don't buy from store directly. $59.95 atm at eb/jb and 55.95 in a weeks time at amazon.

  • +1

    The Last of Us: Remastered

Ahhh that’s a good one. I didn’t see it in the video.

  • Has there been any sort of formal announcement (not from some bs website) as to how PS+ monthly model will go forward on PS5. Will they still be giving away new games on PS5 etc. on the monthly basis?

    • +1

      They haven’t announced any changes
Assume it will be PS4 games (backward compatible ones) until PS5 has been in the wild long enough for there to be games to give away.
This is an additional offer for PS5 owners with plus.

  • why no spiderman?

    • +2

Probably because they're selling a remaster of Spiderman for PS5 with another short single player campaign and it doesn't make sense to give it away for free at launch.

      • Is that what Miles Morales is? I assumed it was a proper sequel.

  • +3

I don't see this a good deal at all, x box gives you hundreds of games, not to mention any new aaa games by ea, here you get some old gen ps4 games, only good if you never had ps4 and want play old gen games on new gen…. Yikes

    • +2

Just stick with a PS5 for the games without a subscription, and then a PC for gamespass and you are covered!

      • or don't bother buy a series x instead and an 8k telly

  • So, is this available to ps plus members who do not upgrade to the ps5? That is people with a PS4 and Ps plus membership.

    • +1

      No.
Requires ps plus and a PS5

      • Well; not really.

It requires you to have access to and be able to log onto someone's PS5, then add these games to your library. Then you go back to your PS4 for your free games.

  • +1

    Any good deals for PS+?

    • +1

There should be deals around November/Black Friday.

  • +2

Regardless of which platform has the better deal, Sony still has the better experience with their exclusive games.

How many exclusive games is the Xbox Series X launching with?

    • 0
Halo was all they had and that’s delayed until 2022 or something.

    • -1

It's exactly this reason I wouldn't get ps5, they pay publishers not to release games on all systems so they can blackmail gamers to stay with them, and you think this is a good deal…

      • +2

Shit so a company doing something so it benefits them. Oh my we better call the police on this unethical procedure

        • -1

As I said, I don't have anything against it, I just won't support it, I'll game on pc and one more, no way will I buy pc, xbox, switch and ps5…. What a waste
Plenty of developers that are pro consumers and won't be tied down to exclusives
After all, pc is still the king for gaming

      • Straight out of Microsofts playbook from the PS3/360 days.

        • -2

Different leadership. It's like comparing Nazi Germany to modern day Germany. Times change. No point justifying the present just because it was done in the past.

    • I mean, i see bribing third party publishers to be exclusive to be extremely anti-consumer especially in comparison to Microsoft's multi-platform approach with their 2nd party studios like Obsidian's "The Outer Worlds"

      • +2

Obsidian is a first party studio now. The only reason The Outer Worlds was brought to other platforms was because of contractual obligations with Private Division prior to MS buying them.

Anyway, gamepass is incredibly pro-consumer not to mention being able to use it across PC/Xbox with crossplay and cross save. They said years ago they were committed to PC gaming and they've really shown it.

    • +1

What exclusives is the PS5 launching with?

Assassin's Creed Valhalla - cross platform
Astro's Playroom - pack in title, exclusive to PS5
Demon's Souls - exclusive for now but looks like it's going to be coming to timed and coming to PC and Xbox (they pulled the 'mistake' of that detail in their presentation and asked media not to mention it).
      Destruction All Stars - exclusive
Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (Digital) - cross platform
      Fortnite - cross platform
      Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - on PS4
      Sackboy: A Big Adventure - on PS4

So, a pack in, an exclusive that looks mediocre for a full priced game, and a timed exclusive remake.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think that's a good thing. Exclusives are anticonsumer and not something we should be clammering for. It's great that both Sony and MS are extending the life of last gen, and with similar architectures it will be convenient for Devs to make games cross generation including cross generation multiplayer so no one is getting left out when their community migrates to the new tech, or you migrate and no one else does.
At launch both consoles are looking very much like Pro Pro versions of the previous gen, which is fine for those who want to game on the cutting edge. But for everyone else I think it's wiser to wait for better deals and bundles. I'll grab a PS5 when God of War comes out. Probably grab a series X around halo. You know, wait for a bargain. Seems like something people on here would want to do.

      • +1

Holy shit, PS5's marketing has been amazing because i didnt even realize how little they had in exclusives announced, even post-launch.

  • +3

I own most of the good titles but it is nice to have a non-disc version as it dovetails in with my long term plan of never leaving my couch.

  • +1

…. I owned all of the games, not sure why I even have ps plus until 2022, oh right the cloud saves nuts.

    Update:Hurray, I don't have days gone.

  • sadly i bought all of them and all of them are on my backlog list…

  • FFXV for free…
Sony! bruhhh why you gotta do me like that

  • +2

Just a note, in regards to Persona 5, it is the original PS4 version, not the Royal Edition.

  • +1

Why Persona 5 instead of the newer version lol?

    • $$$. You can tell Sony were only able to secure some limited deals with mostly Japanese game developers. Other 3rd party games are essentially not most current ones.

Quite a lot of them were past PS Plus give aways.

    • +2

Money. So you can still pay for Royal. Same reason all these other games are vanilla, no DLC, etc.

  • +4

Still not a real competitor to Game Pass.

I'm generally not a fan of MS, but they've done something very right with Game Pass. My only qualm is the lack of a 'family plan' where it can be shared amongst multiple devices and players in the home, particularly as we use Game Pass on both the Xbox and PC.

Sony need to work a lot harder to match this, however they probably don't have the motivation given their current market position (which is the reason we'll actually be moving to the PS5, as only 2 kids in my sons group of friends are on Xbox, everyone else is on PS).

    • +1

Pretty sure you can play on Xbox & PC simultanously if you have Ultimate.

      • Nice. I'd always assumed I couldn't.

        • even play game discs on pc sometimes

      • Yes this's true. Pc and Xbox and cloud can run at the same time on one account, opening up all access to games under one account, (in theory you could play Lan, on the cloud, on pc and console under one payee account with other family members) but the console or pc must have priority access for the main account or the 3rd party accounts under the billing account cannot access those games freely til the payee logs in, but the console should be fine as long as the main accounts logged in from time and again. You can play offline upwards of 1 month, but if multiple hard resets will mean the main account will need to access the the internet for offline play. Hell you can use your phone mobile data(if you have no internet) to access the main account and play offline entirely, but no updates will be available.

  • Sweet. There's one of those games I don't have.

I wonder if they'll finally pro patch Bloodborne. It looks bad enough on 4k upscaled. Imagine 8k.

  • +2

This is not even close to what they're doing on gamepass. Sony really need to up their game

    • Not really. Sony own the market at the moment with their exclusives. They're just riding the wave.

      • can't surf that wave

      • We all know how quickly that can change. Look how cocky they were at the start of the PS3 era, it allowed Microsoft to gain so much marketshare in that generation. It took them pretty much the whole generation to win people back.

They need to keep up with what competitors are doing otherwise they'll get left behind.

        • they are behind

  • +1

I wish HZD 2 releases when PS5 is out :(

    • +1

same, horizon forbidden west is the main reason I preordered PS5. Loved it on PS4. Thinking might get watch dog legion as first game to play on 5.

      • Forbidden West is coming to PS4 as well.

      • It’s probably the only reason why I’d get a PS5. Hopefully the price drops in 2021 lol

  • Does anyone know if accounts on the PS5 work like on the PS4?

  • I have half of these games and have only played half of what i owned..The games are all pretty old though. None of em are this year's release?

    • The easiest way to look at it is that this is for people who have not had continuous PS Plus over the years. Quite a lot of them are past PS Plus 'free' games.

It could be also handy for people like me who had PS Plus in a different region for a few years now and wanting to switch back to PS Plus AU. Sony closed the loophole where South East Asian PS Plus membership used to be a lot cheaper. This could make switching back to AU less painful if I ended up getting a PS5.

This year's titles won't be there (at least not for quite a while) with Ghost of Tsushima selling better than expected and TLoU2, despite having a generally unpopular story, is selling reasonably well.

      • Interseting.. Not much of an online gamer myself so never really gotten into PS Plus..

  • Played 15 of the 18.. but still a great deal for some!

  • awesome!!
I've skipped ps4 gen - great way to get back into the fold :)

  • So if I get a PS5 can I technically get rid of my PS4 and play my digital and Physical games on PS5?

What about games like GTA Vice city available on PS Store for PS4?

PS. Anyone want to get rid of MAFIA 3 that was on sale at $1 at JB a few months ago?

    • I don't think PS5 has complete backwards compatibility. They've said they will support the top 100 PS4 games. It's not totally clear how it's going to work. Some kind of whitelist where only those 100 games will work, or just no guarantee that any other games will work as intended but they will probably work fine.

  • 12 I have no interest in, 5 I've already platinum'd, and then there's Battlefield 1 that I have on Xbox from some other deal but don't care for either.

I'm being a little shit though, I think for PlayStation guys, this is obviously an absolute win and am very happy for the 3 people who haven't played Uncharted 4. But no, I think this is a huge step in the right direction, reminds me of the old Instant Game Collection days, which was why I bought a PS Vita in the first place, if they keep these guys here for years and add the odd thing, I would probably consider getting a PS5 when there's a decent sale, but since you put Miles Morales on PS4 now, I can wait on the console for a gooooood long time.

    • It's just a quick, cost effective (for Sony) response from Sony to GamePass. It's more for people switching camp or new comers.

Sony cannot do a true GamePass equivalent. Also, this time around, 3rd party titles will play better on the opposition's flagship console so it is going to be tougher for Sony. This move from Sony won't upset existing PS4 owners (coz. majority of them were PS Plus free games). If PS5 owners happened to want to revisit those games, at least they can do it digitally, without discs.

The first PS5 true exclusive is Demon’s Souls (which is a remake). Is that enough for most people though…. Miles Morales, I am guessing Sony might go for 60fps marketing… Well, you would expect PS5 to be able to do that.

      • +1

Oh, this can't hold a candle to Game Pass. But I'd argue it beats the piss out of Gold as far as the launch window goes. Gonna be very interesting to see what both sides offer going into next gen.

It could be quite possible Sony just does this and doesn't do any monthly Plus games either at all or for a good while on PS5. Xbox could do something similar, or could stick to two 360 and Xbone games a month, maybe they add one smaller Series game a month, who knows… honestly I still wish those "rumours" of Gold being killed entirely, and online going free were true. Gets rid of the argument of who has better games each month, gets rid of a fee each month, and (ideally) allows a bit more to be poured into Game Pass each month.

To say Sony can't compete with Game Pass would be silly though, they can and do, with PlayStation Now… why the (profanity) they didn't bring it to Australia the moment they allowed it to download all but the PS3 games is beyond me though.

        • +2

Game Pass, for this generation, isn't that great (for me, I know most people love it). Sure, being able to play Gears 5 and Forza 4 on XBox One X for $1 each is quite nice, BUT, I did spend more on an XBox One X. I also did purchase Red Dead Redemption 2, instead of wait 1.5 years for it to reach Game Pass. Certainly, it could be a game changer for upcoming next gen. Game Pass did annoy me initially as it put all the first party exclusives I purchased one by one to Game Pass.

Sony cannot compete with GamePass as in they cannot put in their latest exclusives there right away. Microsoft knows it. First party exclusives is Sony's bread and butter. Sony doesn't have cloud infrastructure that's making money. They even picked Microsoft Azure as their cloud provider.

Sony put old exclusives in PS Plus Collection and none of the PS4 owners is impressed.

PS Now to AUS, while that would be nice, isn't going to be a game changer. Our NBN isn't good enough. I'd like to see xCloud in action here first.

The fact that majority of us multi camp supporters are questioning whether we need PS5 any time soon is a sign that Sony won't have such an easy ride this time around.

          • +1

@netsurfer: I feel you, but for me, the only first party I had bought was Halo MCC

PS Now would go fine for everything but PS3, as you can download PS2 and PS4 games on the service now, and have been able to for a good while now.

But you're right about the multi campers. Why they announced Spidey and Horizon for last gen is beyond me. Sure there's money to be made there, but selling them as next gen exclusives for a year and then "surprise" dropping them for the hold outs would have made more sense. The people who would buy next gen but were on the fence are pushed over the line, and those who won't bother until a huge sale now get to line your coffers by paying full price for a game you released a year earlier.

  • Oops typo

  • -1

Ps5 plus more like ps5 dust… Here's some hugs, hopefully Sony will announce more soon.

Long live gamepass, hold on is that final fantasy 15 standard edition 🙊🙊🙊, and no mention of EA access, oh dear lord gone.

  • +1

I was interested in buying this for my nephews and read the comments to see if it was good value and there are some weird remarks: seems like cheerleading for Sony games a bit too much and bagging on the Xbox. A couple are ironic comments. Huh?

So if I were to get this deal, I’d need to buy a $750 ps5, which is the same price for the Xbox, plus an expensive 6,12 mth PS plus subscription? Quick search says these are all old games but you apparently get new games on the xBox sub. Wouldn’t the Xbox which has over 100 games, from a buck for your buck POV, be the box with the better value in terms of buying a sub to play new and old games?

Of course I think both have value and they’re just boxes that can play games which is the important thing, so why pick a side? They both look good value wise but the Xbox seems better value for money since you also get new release games. My post seems a bit ironic but it’s not meant to be-I thought this ps plus also included new games on release but it doesn’t, disappointing.

    • You need GamePass Ultimate subscription for XBox Series S|X. However, Microsoft will give you a 1 month voucher code with the console. Whether Sony would match or do the usual 7 or 14 days voucher with the new console is unclear.

The reality is that your nephews will need a longer term subscription either way. The Microsoft loophole of converting GamePass Standard and/or XBox Live Gold to GamePass Ultimate at 1:1 ratio is still on, but Microsoft will be closing that eventually.

New games on GamePass Ultimate - honestly, that's an issue with GamePass Ultimate this year, there isn't one AAA exclusive this year. Halo Infinite was meant to be one, but it has been delayed till next year. So, right now it is:

      Gears Ultimate (1), 4, 5, Forza Horizon 4, Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive
      vs
God of War, Uncharted 4, The Last of Us, The Last Guardian, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous: Second Son, Days Gone, Bloodborne

Both camps have some exclusives not put in there (Sony has more and most of those are quality ones). GamePass Ultimate has Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment and that's a really good one. Third party games, a lot more on GamePass.

Sony won't put their latest exclusives on PS Plus. That's not how Sony works. Their first party exclusives need to be good enough to lead to a system sell so giving it away for $10/month is not going to work. Sony doesn't go for multiplayer exclusives. Sony doesn't go for micro-transactions. You can easily finish one of the exclusives within a month. Sony won't be able to survive with $10 per exclusive.

Microsoft will go for micro-transactions in some, if not most of their exclusives. The rave on GamePass is due to those unreal specials (especially the $1/month promotion from time to time). I really cannot see myself spending $15.95 per month (that's ~$190 per year and I don't get to own any game afterwards).

      • I kind of get your point but I think it's a little funny you wrote " Sony won't be able to survive with $10 per exclusive". I mean, as you're a consumer, why should you care about a billion dollar company's bottom line?

Also I think you are exaggerating a bit, sony would be able to survive if it was also $10 a month but for them, i think from a business POV, it makes sense for them to not offer it for $10 since they're not a trillion dollar company like microsoft. However, since I as just a consumer and only care about value for money, I don't care if x, y, z mega corporations are losing money or not; I just want the best value for money that I perceive and if box A offers more value than box B? I'll choose box A. They both offer different games and what not and I think someone should just buy whatever box they like and play the games that interest them the most

  • -1

Awaiting comments from PS5 pre-order neggers on RRP, not a deal etc

    • sell your PS4 PRO for 400 - 100 higher than EB trade in, and then grab 8% off Gift card from AGL ( if you are their customer)

      EB GIFT CARD 700* 0.92 = 644 + 49 - 400 = $293 for me wahahahaha

      • As far as I can see, you can only use one eb gift card per purchase and the biggest denomination AGL sells is per $100.

        • only one can be used Online , but you can use as many as you can in store.

  • Wow, this is great, i can own FFXV on PS5 and not play it too

  • +1

It will be interesting if Sony hires From Software to fix Bloodborne or not.
If they don't the frame-pacing issue that has been plagueing that game since release will still be present.
And this will make the PS5 look bad to people unfamiliar with the game, seeing their $750 brand new system have stutter when playing a PS4 game.

    • It's horrible that they never bothered to even patch it to support PS4 pro. Not even a small team or contractors…

  • -2

Welp. Is there any point in getting a Xbox anymore?

    • +2

Game Pass, xCloud streaming, all the UWP apps (stuff like Kodi support), better online, Smart Delivery, Xbox Play Anywhere, twice as many monthly games (2 of which you actually own), exclusives like Halo and Forza, more powerful console (or price, if you wanna talk the S), backward compatibility, free online cloud save backups for all, cross gen compatibility with controllers meaning you don't have to buy another $100 bit of plastic for 2 player if you have current gen already, etc.

Though I asked myself if there was any point in getting a PS5 anymore after they said Spidey was coming to PS4 and I drew a blank.

      • The worst part is that Xbox seems like such a better deal, but all the games I like to play are primarily PS4.

If Xbox got equal treatment for stuff like Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter then it'd be a no-brainer, but it's a tough choice now.

        • It's actually quite simple. Microsoft's marketing is: games play best on XBox (Series X). Reviewers' view on the reality is:

Games play best on … PC.

Sony knows that. Honestly, it comes down to whether Sony's next gen exclusives can entice you to buy a PS5. We know AMD will release RNDA 2 card(s) more powerful than XBox Series X.

My plan is to support all 3 camps (PC, XBsX, PS5). There will be cool OZB deals on the consoles in 2021 I am sure.

      • There is a bit of double standard there.

If Spidey MM to PS4 means no PS5, shouldn't Halo Infinite on XB1 means no XBsX as well? You don't need XBsS|X for xCloud.

I do question why a DLC length game would be enough as a system sell for PS5.

Another controller for PS5… Let's wait till exclusives are released before worrying about that (and for Sony exclusives, multiple controllers is a big deal? Really? Which PS4 games did you play co-op?). For playing PS4 game on PS5, PS4 controllers still work. And, since when do OZBers buy controllers at RRP? Besides, I do want to dump my old XBox controllers… a couple of the buttons aren't as good as they used to be.

It comes down to games. My XBox One X is collecting dust for months now. I am sure Microsoft will churn out more exclusives for next gen. However, no matter how you want to hype up either camp, $749 right now is for early adopters.

        • Spider-Man was my only reason to buy a PS5, with it no longer being a PS5 exclusive, I have no need for a PS5. Halo was never really my cup of tea and if it wasn't on Game Pass I wouldn't have touched it.

Because it's literally the only launch game that looks even half fun. Ooooh, a remaster of Demon's Souls, a game I didn't even like when it was on PS+ yeaaaaaars ago, no thanks. Some Sackboy stuff, no thanks (also on PS4). Multiplat crap like Watch Dogs (2nd one's story blew chunks so I'll wait on reviews), Assassin's Creed (which I was never into) will be fine on current gen, or either of the next genners, so they're hardly enticing either. Spider-Man was very literally the only thing either of them had that had any interest from me, and now I don't need a $600 or $750 box to play it.

Why wait for exclusives, why not just for multiplayer games? Like, say, any of the multiplayer games on Game Pass day one, or stuff like Mortal Kombat X that's in the PS+ stack day one? Crazy that consoles featuring the entire previous generation (or more)'s libraries would out the gate have some two player stuff. I myself am looking forward to split screen Tony Hawk, I only have one remote and am not gonna buy a new one when I'll have the Xbox Series whichever remote in a month and change.

750 is a price. I'm not gonna argue if it's a good or bad price because it's not that black and white to me… but I have $525 in EB credit that can only be used on preorders and it only really makes sense to throw it down on this tbh, especially when there's (profanity) all games coming out that I'm excited about anyway. I can throw my current console at the missus' place and have my Game Pass stuff there too which is sick, etc. If I didn't have half a grand on there though out the gate, I wouldn't touch any console from any of them now that Spidey is on PS4.

      • After decades of gaming I seriously question what the ps5 offers me over the series X and the pro, since I don't have a 8k tv.

The cost of external compatible ssd's for both reinforces the question. Gamepass ultimate and xcloud and play anywhere etc all have value greater than 1 or 2 questionable exclusives ps5 at this time.

I'm sure demons souls will look great but its not FROM, its a remake from another company.

        • All I want is a playstation that doesn't drown out the sound of my game. PS4 backlog to go through. But can't stand the fan noise. If the fan noise is fixed and it's backwards compatible, that's good enough for me.

We all know the sequels to the ps4 exclusives will come to the ps5. Even with what you've listed I don't see the point in buying a Xbox if I have a gaming PC.
