Personal Coud Computer Arrival

Anyone experimenting the new cloud computer from Alibaba? Game changer! It's finally here!

I suspect with the terrible internet speed here in AU that may actually buy sometime for the computer part merchants.

Giving Communist China direct access to your data. No thanks.

So which one is it? A game changer or too slow?

For it to be a game changer, it really needs to be fast!

As for giving all my data to the China…..

  • Is there a link at all?

  • I suspect with the terrible internet speed here in AU that may actually buy sometime for the computer part merchants.

    What do you mean?

    • cloud computing replaces local PC , but requires fast internet for it to work

      • That is understood, it was the meaning of the paragraph that I struggled to comprehend.

may actually buy sometime for the computer part merchants.

This is confusing, what is meant by "buy sometime for the computer part merchants" and what does that have to do with a 'cloud' service from Alibaba? It wasnot clear what OP was trying to say.

        • cloud computing replaces local PC, so if cloud computing took off in a big way, the demand for PC diminishes hence computer part merchants may suffer loss in sales finding them going under, but if our NBN is crap then cloud computing won't work so computer part merchants won't have to worry for now until we have gigabit internet for everyone

          seems very clear ?

          • @dcep: Thanks. Your explanation is what I was seeking, the abbreviated form, in the OP, lacked this clarity.

How's this a game changer? The idea is fairly old already

Google Chromebooks are partly server side and partly local and are probably a better idea.

  • Chromebooks already there.

You can install steam on there as well officially so you have chrome OS and Linux in one and have fun.
