        If you do want the A80 though, I happened to see that it is ~$175 aud on US Amazon, more than $20 cheaper than aus price, not too sure if it's a good price though

                The CEO of Telstra is an authority. Any press release he issues is an official statement by Telstra. But he can't make announcements about Optus products and call them official because he's an authority to Telstra only, and not an authority to Optus. Only Optus itself can make official announcements.

                Tom's Hardware is not an authority of Silicon Power, so their reviews cannot be considered "official" which would mean that Silicon Power released it.

      I just checked US Amazon and it's has a lot more reviews and presumably not as high of a failure rate due to the rating and no reports of it during my quick scroll (aus only had 7 reviews with two of them saying they failed, a lot of people only review things when something goes wrong)

    As well, the P34A80 boasts standard features like S.M.A.R.T. data reporting, TRIM, and support for Format NVM /secure erase commands, but does not come with OPAL or Windows BitLocker support.

    I've only used Crucial and Samsung SATA III SSDs to-date.
    Can hardware-based encryption be enabled even if this drive doesn't support it?

      I thought BitLocker stopped working with hardware-based encryption due to too many poor implementations of it by vendors? I guess there is probably some way to force enable it?

      don't do it.

      The PS5 has a custom SSD solution which is faster than what is currently available on PC. And the one it comes with is 835GB which is only a little bit less than this one.

        Yeah but PS5 will have expandable storage, because 800gb really isn't enough. And apparently the expansion port will be nvme m.2, so you can have the inbuilt SSD plus an expansion SSD like the one in this deal.

          Yes I think I remember Sony published or will publish a list of supported SSDs. You better check if this one is on the white list. Personally, I will stick with the original one because it is faster.

            @lostn: Oh of course me too, but will quickly run out of storage with a couple of games installed. Obviously the OS and the main most played games will stay on the built in, but then others will need to be sorted to the expansion

        PCs have supported DMA for years, but the GPU support has been sluggish. NVIDIA have put it into the 30 series, and AMD have it in RDNA2 (hence why the consoles have it).

        That being said, it's a feature that's going to take some time to implement, and this is true on the consoles as well.

      PS5 requires a PCI-E Gen 4 that must meet the transfer specs and fit in the slot (most have large heatsinks).
