Are You Offended by This Number Plate?

As per the kerfuffle in the news

The number plate is LGOPNR.

It's an abbreviation for Leg Opener (according to the owner).

No the owner is not a gynaecologist. He is a barrister.

SJWs must of run out of things to be outraged about today.

So the grown man like Lego, I mean have see Lego these days? Its awesome

  • Some years ago there was a 'French" wine called Le Gnopner. I never tried it so I don't know if it worked.

    • is that like Richie Benaud's (the 12th man) French estate "Chateau Ver De Flor"?

  • I don't get it.

  • Well the lambo itself is a leg opener, it's not offensive it's descriptive. Describing the overall function of the car itself. If kids asked what it said I probably would just say it has something to do with Lego lol

When I was working at a Holden dealership we had a customer with

    PHCU, PHCU1 and PHCU2

It was for Pittwater House Cadet Unit, #1 and #2

Some old boiler reported them cause she thought it said (profanity) You, (profanity) You Too

I'm offended but you shouldn't have to change anything for me.

  • I think the combination is obviously intended to be humourous and the government revoking the combination is over the top, but legally I think he hasn't got a leg to stand on.

In NSW you don't own number plates - the government issues them and retains ownership of them forever. You legally must hand them back to the motor registry when you cancel a car's registration.

Also, for many years now in NSW plate combinations have not been issued on a permanent basis - you pay an annual fee. Some plates which are sold in special auctions or issued prior to the change to an annual fee DO carry special transfer rights (so they become an investment, like they are in some other states), but this doesn't look like one of them.

Even in other states where you pay a large sum for a perpetual personalised plate, I believe they retain the rights to cancel it.

On those bases, I think the government is within its rights to invalidate a combination. You are allowed to emblazon your personal property with as much smut as you like (see Wicked Campers), but the government has a say when it is their property and they are the ones issuing the plates.

If you don't like it, write to your local MP complaining about it.

  • Not offended, just jealous

  • Legs is the word of the day…let’s spread the word

  • should have used Rsopnr for diversity

  • Why not when it's attached to a Lambo. Whoever can guess the meaning would be old enough.

Wouldn't be suitable when its attached to a say Toyota camry or Mazda 2.

Now that everyone knows what it means….guessing he would have dropped and swapped a diff plate anyway.

Firstly..Who cares - its only a number plate

Secondly: OP is the offender for deliberately placing such an interpretation on a number plate

Thirdly: OP is committing a breach of privacy by relealing the occupation of the owner - again offensive!

Suggesdt OP just mind their own business and stop deliberately offending people

  • Lego Pawner.

  • King

  • With all the sh!te going on in the world, people getting offended by a number plate???? WTF

    • LOL!

And why on earth are people READING number plates?
      Empty lives anyone?

the number plates say more about the w@nker than those who are offended by them

    • Just because someone is successful doesn't make them a w4nk3r.

Plate makes him a misogynist though.

        • Nobody cares that the driver is getting some tail.

  • Probably related to the LUV VAG guy from years ago:

  • I think people can do what they like, but i would be highly embarrassed to own it, and i think he will regret it one day. Police pulling him over may not look kindly upon him either. But no im not offended, I believe in freedom of speech. Nor hurting anyone, merely warming people here comes an assault.

Unless you are alone on a desert island, every freedom that we have comes with some measure of responsibility to our community.People that truly don’t understand this probably mostly reside in the Untied States of Trumpwankia….
The fact that this chap is a barrister says it all for me. The number plate to me says he is a d@@k. Hopefully parks his car in a visible location to let potential clients know. I am guessing that having spent big bucks on a statement car, he felt a further statement was in order.
I don’t find it particularly offensive, but it is a little sad that he has so much trouble finding friendship that he has to advertise the activities that he is ‘open’ to on his car.

  • Great another episode of cancel culture whinging and crying over nothing

He should change it to WNKR.

There is already a PAJERO around.

  • What if it were a yellow car and he had the name: COON?
I'm sure a female would get away with WAP (Wet ass (profanity)) after Cardi B's new song - go watch the full clip on YouTube (uncensored of course!)

  • Never understood how a Mitsubish Pajero badge is allowed.

Pajero stands for "onanist" (the one who masturbate repeatedly/routinely) in Spanish.

By the way same vehicle is sold in Spain badged: Montero (from the bush).

  • If he wasn’t a barrister, that has pushed back, would this even be a story in the “news”?

I had to take many guesses to work it out as I originally thought it had something to do with LEGO - given the bright yellow colour?
    Now i know what it means;
    - is it crass - imo yes.
    - is it going to affect my life - no.

Some cases for vanity plates being not allowed could be argued due to language used (aka swear words) as rightly or wrongly that is viewed by many as vulgar.. yet it would be a continuous vicious circle of opinions as to what is or isn’t ok, as the PHCU example further up In the replies before me highlighted

The guy with the Torana had the plates on car, and attended various shows for 10years, then suddenly they are deemed ‘offensive’?!
Aside from being two different states; it hints to a somewhat illogical stance on what is ok and what isn’t and specifically when it is and when it isn’t..

    I hazard that this logic is maybe why the barrister is fighting his particular case. {Also the skeptic in me also wonders if perhaps for free publicity (?) yet if he drops an fbomb in a quote to the “news” he appears to be of the idgaf nature}

Ultimately if he uses his legal knowledge to fight something, a large portion of us can not and not necessarily skilled enough to argue/do perhaps something will come of it for benefit of others.

  • Just a heads up, no one gives a (profanity) about your kids and having to explain this stuff to kids. The world doesn't revolve around sheltering your kids.

Well mark me offended because this breaks my heart. It's just so sad to see another tragic example of mid-life-crisis. Our man here, full-time barrister and looking like part-time kerb crawler, who likely spends his evenings watching Pretty Woman on a loop, shows such a lack of judgement it's hard to believe anyone would actually retain him to represent them legally. The only legs this car's going to contribute to opening are his own if he drives it to his annual digital rectal exam.
