  • How do the Kingston rate against the Sandisk?

Thanks but no thanks. I'm never buying a flash disk or memory card from Ebay again. Too many fakes.

    • just dont buy electronics from hongkong/china on ebay

  • Buy any flash device from Ebay @ your own risk.

Not all of them are fakes…. I've had good experiences with eBay

      • Me 2, no trouble at all. Just buy from sellers with good reputation (good feedbacks)

Apus/ShoppingSquare have lousy service but they are reliable in not selling fakes.

I bought one from another eBAY seller. Write speeds were a bit disappointing but read speed was good. Expected better from a class 10 card. Looks like a legit Kingston card judging by the packaging etc but who knows!

500MB file transferred to and from IMAC via internal SD card reader.

    Kingston 100x (class 10)

    Write 73 seconds
    Read 31 seconds

    Sandisk Ultra 11 (class 4)

    Write 38 seconds
    Read 43 seconds

    • what formats did you use for each ? hav a look tell us pls…

      • Both cards had been formatted in my Gopro HD camera.

    • did u buy this particular kingston card? the kingston 100x you quote is actually below supposed class 10 specifications.

      • Yep, exactly this card infact I almost bought it from these guys but found a more local seller that had good feedback. On the Packaging its says UltimateX 100x 20MB/s Read and 15MB/s write - Class 10.

  • I need a good 32GB SDHC Class 10. Was going to buy the Verbatim SecureDigital Class 10 from OzGameShop for $42 but they are always out of stock, that one does about 22 read / 19 write so only marginally quicker than the "claimed" speeds of this Kingston.

I wish there was a review of these somewhere on the net but I couldn't find one. The price is right (cheaper than StaticIce) can anyone (rep included) share any experience with these cards? I'm very keen to buy just want the reassurance.

MyMemory have a 32GB Class 10 (their own brand) with 23 MB/s read/19MB/s write speeds for about $39 delivered (with a free set of probably crap headphones included, yay?).

      • Thanks! I think I'll buy that one :)

        EDIT: Just ordered it, cheers.

        • Just read that. Oh well, worst case scenario it will be the performance of the Patriot selling at MSY for a few bucks less. Either way I don't have an MSY nearby and unless their policy has changed they don't ship. I'm happy to report the speed when I get it.

Doubt many will see this now that it's an expired deal but I just benchmarked my MyMemory branded card from MyMemory and heres the results:

          Sequential
          Read: 20.05MB/s
          Write: 19.08MB/s

          I'm very happy with it.

    • True, just bought one from msy today, read around 19-20, write around 16, not too bad for $31

      • Actually the Patriot card you are refering to is closer to 20 read and 11 write. Someone ran their own tests in a post on that deal. I don't trust that for my 1080p 50fps recording. But for lower requirements it's a bargain.

EDIT: I stand corrected, I just checked the specs of my 1080p 50fps recording and it's lower than 11MB/s so the cheaper Patriot should do the job afterall. I just dont live near an MSY and they don't do shipping unless things have changed.

AFAIK no consumer device records at higher than 10mb/s so its a misnomer that you need a card faster than class 10 for video recording.

Most people that want faster cards are for buffer clearing purposes during speed shooting in photography.

        • Yes what you just said is all correct.

  • msy have patriot 32gb class 10 on special for $31 end today
