📍 94 Kingsway, Glen Waverley VIC 3150

Edit: Sorry, there's a few mistake in the menu - 烧肠 Roast Chinese Sausage, 南京盐水鸭 Salt Water Duck" - their fb

.

Am told $30 is normal for a roast duck so not sure if this is a good deal compared to other places also on Kingsway? No one knows when this promo ends, but it was valid yesterday and ongoing for a while. This place and next door was quite popular.

I'm interested in the $12 roast with rice/noodle soup/dry noodle soup or rice noodle.
$9.40 with 20% off. $11.05 for two meats. As always this is the cash price.
Esp the roast duck and soy chicken (hawker chan!) shall report back.

    That was a week ago.

    • "valid yesterday and ongoing for a while"

  • Duping you’re own post…
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/567862

    • Thought I'd post separately as I got a menu/link for this one.

Had this place the other day, nothing special. Even at 20% off

    • What did you try?

      • Roast duck and crispy roast pork on rice.

Way better at ChinaBar about 50m down

      • +1

You sound very enthusiastic about it. Are you a Rep from this restaurant? Should declare it in your posts or you'd be sockpuppetting.

        • Member since 2009, 4000 comments, I think they're good lmao

          • @frowny: Doesn't mean they haven't opened a new business?

    • Good to know. No need to head down there anytime soon then. A brief review?

I had roast duck and crispy roast pork on rice, Mrs had the dry noodles with roast pork. Neither was particularly good. Normally, the rice has a sauce on it but not on mine, same with the wife’s noodles.

The restaurant’s on Kings Way is a war zone, and if the food isn’t good, it’ll be gone in a couple of months. The place it’s in is cursed I think. So many restaurants have tried to work there and failed

        • Funny you say that (location) as it should be prime real estate (haven't been there, judging by photos) as it's few doors way the cinema so lots of foot traffic. Arguably it should be a better location than say the street opposite the train station.

  • 20% off roast duck/pork is good.

  • Heard its actually run by the same people as O'Town next door. The kitchen may be even connected at the back. They must have got a pretty good deal on the rent to do the move at this time.

    • +3

Yeah I’m tipping OP is affiliated

      • +1

The only thing I'm affiliated to is failing to loose weight XD

I'm certain the two are linked - because they have those opening flowers flowing from one shop to the other.

  • Does the 20% off apply for delivery?

  • Welp, I know what takeaway i'm getting once the 5km restriction is lifted.

    Thanks OP

  • Tried it last week, pork was still raw and pink. Soy sauce chicken and Roast Pork were meh - had better in the Glen and Mount Waverley area

    • Where do you recommend for soy chicken?
Think hawker chan at Chadstone is closed/doesn't deliver atm.

      • I'm not a big eater of soy sauce chicken, but I visit golden ocean in Mt Waverley for their roast pork and duck. Although I call them to make sure if they have roast pork.

  • O-Town beside it had a $8 for Hainanese Chicken Rice (1st 100 serves for the day). Ordered it and it wasn't too bad, better than the special on offer at Petaling Street ($9.80?) across the road and China Bar ($10 on special).

.. while it said 100 serves for the day, I went there at ~1:00pm and they still had it. There wasn't a lot of people anyway. Quite a few people waiting at the Glen City Roast Bar though..

  • Soya chicken: lack of flavour, can't taste the soya flavour, it's like eating steamed chicken.

Crispy pork: Was not crispy at all, they also didn't scrape the burnt bits off the skin giving it a very charcoal aftertaste.

BBQ honey pork: Nothing special, sliced too thinly for my liking, it's like those cheap char siu you get in your fried rice

TLDR: Even with 20% discount don't bother as there are better options in Glen Waverley.

  • I haven't tried but reading some FB reviews and comments here seems like it's a little underwhelming. However if the owner is the same as O'town then I'm surprised as personally find the food at O'town quite good.
