I bought the exact same a couple of days ago.

  • I dont understand- "no added fillers" but there is rice and oats as the second and third ingredient. Are they not fillers?

I don't want to scare anybody but I have been feeding my dog this food for 2 years…recently went to show somebody some reviews of it and was shocked…just returned my new bag immediately until I see what happens in the future ..potentially a bad batch but not taking the risk. Apparently many dogs are getting sick and a dog in Bunbury WA died and they believed it was the food. Be aware if your bag smells like chemicals. When I returned the bag to PetStock the manager stated they had a conference call in relation to this matter so clearly its concerning…

  • I too am looking for something atm for my staffy, but it is not easy that's for sure. I was thinking Black Hawk, but there are loads of bad reviews recently regarding this product(I think mostly due to a recall they had) so that is probably a no, which is a shame as the ingredients and price seem pretty good.
Seeing this post I got interested but now after reading above comment not too sure about this either.

Honestly I've been very happy with Ivory Coat, after moving away from Black Hawk as it seemed they changed formulas. I hope to go back im just a bit weary of the risk although I'm sure it was just a bad batch. Struggled like you to find what's best. Read many sites etc. I decided to try Canidae for now, something new for the dog anyway. Also tossed up between Candidae, Meals for Mutts, Taste of the Wild, Wellness Core…if it helps this site seems to breakdown what's in them to help you make a choice and they seem to have no affiliation so i feel its independent reviews but its the internet…so you can't really trust anything :(

On a side note, they did put me onto Ivory Coat in the first place so I hope the other reviews are just as good.

Also shop around, I just got Candidae from Pet Warehouse a few days ago on special and it was $104 with $9 cashback through cashrewards…where as Petstock wanted $150 a bag. Still feed my cats Black Hawk as they are fussy as hell and I get that cheap from PetPost for under $60 but other stores charge like $90…so definitely shop around, do your research!

      • Thanks very much for your info. I thought I had it down to Royal Canin 7+ but then after reading the reviews decided against it. (Supposedly Uber Premium along with Hills according to Pet Stock)
Interestingly the product I have decided on is the Canidae All Life stages, as my dog is 7 and was hoping to find something a but more tailored, balancing quality and price also. It is around $118/20kg bag atm, hoping to get it a bit cheaper than that.

A number of people in ozb predicted that the quality would drop when the company ceased to be Australian owned. Sad
