Plumbing Cost - Cutting Concrete and Fixing a Water Burst

There's water leaking from a pipe underneath concrete, and it's flowing onto my neighbours garden and their not happy.

Thankfully this is far from the house itself, in the backyard, and I'm not experiencing any water leak issues within the house.

How much would it cost to have a plumber cut the concrete and fix the leak?

You forgot to factor in concrete disposal.

I always forget the concrete disposal cost, silly me. Add another $181.62.

        • Ozb version of the price is right. i love it haha

        • Is the concrete disposal cost inclusive of GST?

          • @pjetson: No, GST is additional. But you can just pay cash. $170 cash.

  • They'll love it in summer.

    About tree fiddy

  • Depends on depth and how far in. Probably will be couple of grand to low 10s.

cut the concrete and fix the leak

Cut the concrete (hire saw), maybe take down the fence to bring in excavator to dig (hire this and maybe carpenter), find leak, fix leak, refill. Do you need to reconcrete, skip to remove concrete?

Get at least 2 quotes. Could save you $5k.

  • Some plumbers can reline from the inside.

Do you know where the leak is?

May be cheaper to forget about cutting the concrete and run new piping to bypass the existing leaking pipe.

Get a mattock and a 6ft crow bar and dig out the concrete yourself, and excavate down to the pipe yourself and the quote will be much, much lower (because the digging is a sucky job, and the damage could be anything when it is covered up).
And if you are happy to also backfill and mix a bit of concrete yourself afterwards, you could also save a bunch.

    • And wear gloves, glasses
