Kmart Lightning to 3.5mm Adapter

I’m looking at getting a cheap adapter in the next week.

I’ve got no apple store, jb or Harvey’s anywhere near by, and don’t think Ebay can deliver intime.

Does anyone know if this Kmart adapter lets you still use the microphone and he buttons on the Apple headset?

Is it Lightening or Lightning? Adapter or Adaptor?

Are you here to pick on OPs accidental typos or answer their question?

Well to be fair you haven't answered their question either.

  • Are you trying to reuse older iPhone earphones with mic on cable? Those plugs can be wired differently to other nonApple headsets… dunno which one 3rd party adaptor expects. Also some of those are audio out only no mic line.

These days I prefer Bluetooth tiepins

Plug any Walkman headphones in, the mic is in the gadget.
Buy 2+ to charge one & use one.

I doubt it would let you use a microphone, since the Kmart page says it's for headphones not microphones. As for the buttons on the Apple headset, I'd also guess no, since (again) the Kmart page says it's just for headphones, not buttons.

Still, it's Kmart. Buy it, and if it doesn't do what you want, return it.

Lightening would mean making something lighter (ie less dark or less heavy). Lightning (as in the adaptor or those bright bolts of electricity in the sky) doesn't have an e.

Adaptor and Adapter seem pretty much interchangeable nowadays. Some say that adapter should be used for people (ie someone who adapts) and adaptor should be used for things (eg this cable you're asking about), but others make no distinction. Adapter has virtually always been the more common spelling everywhere, but more so in British English.

  • Don't know for sure, but I'd guess that the MFi certification would mean that it should. Just get one and try, if it doesn't, Kmart is pretty good with returns.
