Kind of - the P12 variant are pressure optimised (better for radiators as they can focus airflow), while the F12 variant are more suited as case fans.

You can't go wrong with either, but the P12 are highly rated as they are a good value proposition for both situations.

        Thanks mate

    Thanks got 4.

    • Do you need to buy a splitter for the power?

      • +1

The PST versions (which these are) have a plug on each fan cable that allows you to daisy chain fans, so if I am correctly understanding your question, no.

    Noice.

The white/white version is $15.55 for those on colour theme.

    • Also eligible for Prime

Would this work for Synology DS218+ ?

While good value relative to other brands, these are 50% more than the PWM model + a good chunk for delivery.
Better to get the PWM and just buy a fan splitter + get free delivery no?
Not saying these are a bad deal but I was waiting for these for ages and its a lot more money % wise just for PST.

Put 5 in the cart and it adds $15 for delivery so I didn't go ahead… would be nice if it's Prime eligible.

    • Agree with you there Voucherd — everyone should keep shipping in mind. Some napkin maths puts the PST fans $15.15 each (!!)

Personally I went for PST as I'm looking to downsize into an ITX build (NR200). I realise there's a lot of extra space in that case for a fan controller, but thought this would be slightly less cluttered and was worth the premium.

      • +1

I had the same thought! for a NR200P build as well. I ended up grabbing a fan splitter, the NR200p already comes with a fan splitter for the top fans, so ill just have to do some cable management with the bottom ones too.. Would of preferred not to and used the PST but my inner bargainer wouldn't let me click buy! It's on backorder atm

What cpu cooler are you guys using for your builds? I was looking at the NH u12s but some said that it was incompatible with a top fan

I've got a Fuma 2 from the recent deal and from one of the comments the standard 25mm top fans will fit on the Aorus 550i. I am a bit concerned about fitment if I'm honest.

          • +1

@cray: Your right to be concerned, its a damn tight fit, I had to bend the clips down with pliers and run without the fan guards in order to get my 25mm fans to fit at the top, Fuma 2 on Aorus B550i/NR200. Some people seem to have more luck, but I'm not sure how.

I've got a couple more NF-A12x25s on the way to try to improve thermals on my 3950x, want to put 1 extra on the Fuma 2.
Thermals are a bit better than the C14S in the NCASE M1, but its not the night and day difference I was hoping for.
Could be just the relatively low RPM fans the Fuma 2 comes with.

Ordered them before that Arctic P12 PWM deal a couple of days ago. I can take solace in the fact that they are slightly better I suppose.

I was also kind of annoyed that the thermal testing showed the C14S to be better than the Fuma 2 in the NR200, I don't buy it TBH and would like to see more testing done by other members of the SFF community.

This guy's done heaps of comparison for air coolers for the NR200 with benchmark figures etc.

I'm running a Cooler Master 240mm AIO in the bottom mount configuration with a vertical mount GPU (that many on YouTube have said is not recommended)
Had no cavitation and temps have never been above 70 degrees in stress testing.
Cooler Master rate their AIOs for bottom mount due to their dual cavity design.

replaced all fans with low profile noctua (black NF-A12-15 PWMs) and run a corsair h110i pro side mounted

    • While the PST is a nice touch, its not worth double the cost for what amounts to a connector and a little bit of wire. Better off just buy a multi-way splitter with the savings. If it was prime-eligible then maybe… That being said installed mine from the $8 deal and happy with them.

Thanks Op, good first post! Ordered 4 for new build.

any suggestion for the cheap build with PWM fan? Cable management not a big concern

  • I could do with some help on this, please.

I have a gaming PC in an iTX case that overheats sometimes when it's in my Entertainment Centre (EC), but is fine outside the EC. I have a space in my iTX case for another fan, but no more ports on the motherboard. So removing an existing fan and getting 2 PST fans would be a good idea I assume?

Also I was thinking of installing 4 fans into the EC to push the hotter air out the back so cooler air can be pulled in from the front. Would these fans be good for that also? I was thinking of two of the EC fans being plugged into the iTX case PST fans, so when the system heats up, they would also spin up. The other two would be installed on the other side and USB powered by the upcoming PS5 as I'll be laying that down on its side.

So would purchasing 6 of these (2 for case, 4 for EC) be a good idea, or should I pick different fans? I'd want quieter fans where possible.

    Thanks

    • You can get a 3 or 4 way splitter for the fan about $10-15 so you can plug in the splitter into the mobo and connect the fans

How are you going to connect the fans to the itx case, the ones that sit in the EC that aren't connected to the PS5.

I would think 2 fans for the ec would be enough. sounds like it's gonna get messy though

      • I think the PST fans came with a splitter type connector, so you can daisy chain them.

Have the two inside the iTX connected, have two fans mounted inside the Entertainment Centre space that houses the iTX case, have one connected to the daisy chain inside the iTX case, and the second connected to that. As the motherboard detects higher temperatures and increases the fan RPM, it would do it to all 4 simultaneously. I was thinking anyway.

The other side of the EC I'd mount 2 fans again, connect one to the other, have 1 then plugged into a USB to 4 Pin fan connector that is then plugged into the PS5. As the PS5 turns on, fans would just run constantly. That side I'm not so worried about yet, PS5 won't be here till February at best. Though I'd test it all works before mounting using my PS4 Pro.
