  • Great phone. I have one and I highly recommend it.

  • Hey guys just purchased one, anyone know the expected delivery times for the phone?

    • Ordered mine on the 10th of September 2020, Dispatched on the 12th, Arrived 14th of September 2020.
Only when I ordered mine, it stated leaves warehouse in 1-2 Weeks.

      • Is the phone sealed in box international version? Thanks

        • +1

          Yes it was factory sealed.

This is a Direct import by Kogan. Meaning they get it directly from Oneplus in Hong Kong from their Kogan HK Warehouse.

          • @MrQ88: That’s good to know, I don’t like the Chinese version that require a rom flash to use google play, hope this is not the case thanks

  • +2

This phone or the S20 FE 5G about the same price?

    • +1

      I prefer S20 FE 5G due to its water-resistance.

  • +1

To upgrade my OP6 or not. Decisions decisions

    • same. Mine's on the way out too

  • Jumped on, Mate 10 pro has served me well. Thanks OP

    • Hey mate. How does Netflix etc compare? I'm finding the Oneplus a whole lot darker than the mate 10 Pro. It's really dull.

      • +1

Arrived today, haven't even got it out of the box yet!! Will report back

      • Haven't tried netflix but have been loading up hdr video and such and is looking pretty good. Have found that the auto brightness seems to sit on the low side most of the time giving it a dull effect.

Overall feels like I've stepped into the future from mate 10 pro. Phone wouldn't supercharge or connect with anything for data transfer or Android auto. Plus all phonecalls were through speaker.

        • Thanks mate. Yeah HDR on Youtube is awesome but found it a little duller (not bad just darker) on Netflix , Stan and Prime even using the slider on the side and pushing it to max on the phone settings. Although in saying that, and testing it a bit further, I found the picture does compare very well with a HDR TV. So it's probably just a brighter picture in Huawei. Noticed also that Netflix etc. throttle display at 1080p so full screen isn't as crisp as it would be on the Huawei. No problems at all with youtube video as it allows up to 4k.

Your phone won't warp charge even using the original charger (plus the aussie adapter)? That's a bit weird. I'd be checking that.

          Having tried android auto yet.

          • @CrazyDragon: Was talking about the mate 10 pro not charging.

On another note do you know if it's possible to get the 30w warp charge from any other form of wall charger?

            • @Jakeo: Not sure haven't checked mate.

            • @Jakeo: It's Dart or Warp charge you want, and they are very limited in availability. You are generally limited to branded products, although I have seen 3rd party ones on ebay etc. If I'm plugging into 240V I'd stick to branded, in the car you could go third party.

However I've found, with a full charge at night, I can top up pretty well during the day with a 5V/2A/10W USB charger or powerbank. Or if you are really power hungry during the day, use your Dart/Warp during the day, and charge overnight on a 10W charger.

              • @norkle: Just out of curiosity, how much screen time are we getting from 100% (or 80%) charge?

                • +1

@CrazyDragon: No idea, I don't track it. I'm not a big player of games/videos, and I have multiple devices. So if you're a heavy user, take my comments with a grain of salt.

  • +2

    No 5g. Hmmmm.

Considering I am typing in a three year old OnePlus 5 going strong I would probably want that for forward compatibility.

  • Should I buy this or wait for the release of 8T?

    • The 8T is coming really soon. Being announced 14th Oct in US. You'll be able to import it within the next 4-8 weeks. You'd be silly not to wait now. Plus most of the 8T specs have already leaked. So you can decide now which you wanna buy lol.

  • +2

Price protection claim, thank you OP.

Mine is 11 months old got it in the 11.11 sales last year for 1050

    • +1

Who do you use for price protection?

    • Hi @gunnerz, any chance you can pm me the screenshot for price protection claim?

  • This or Poco F2 Pro? Same price but poco win in every specs except the screen and software.
    Thank

    • Poco F2 Pro user here. The phone is extremely snappy and pretty good in every aspect except VOLTE will be a gamble. It may work or may not depending on your luck. Telstra does not recognize Xiaomi as a supported brand of handset so will not do anything to assist you with troubleshooting, but the phone is great. Camera is really good for day shots but struggles a little at night.

      • I am using Poco F1 atm. Tbh, I never actually care or pay attention to whether my phone has VOLTE or not. So I guess this factor is not a deal-breaker to me

        • The only time it actually makes a difference to me is when I am using the phone as a hotspot and have to make a phone call (once in 6 months), but yes if you don't mind that it is a pretty good phone for the price. Got mine from TobyDeals for around $560ish around 2 months ago.

    • Depends if you want to use 5g or not, if 5g then poco phone, but I doubt the performance will be much difference for 855+ and 865, 90hz 2k display is way better and smother though

    • Another poco f2 pro user here and I chose the poco over the OP mostly for the battery life. The oneplus looks nicer overall and would definitely have a lot more accessories made for it, but I stick by my choice of getting the poco

  • Pity 5G

    • +3

Do you have any evidence that OnePlus sent their data to Beijing? Or is this all based on speculation lol

    • +1

      ok

    • Simultaneously sent to Langley, correct. Unless they've moved their HQ.

  • Son of a …… $%*&^

I literally just ordered a OnePlus 7 Pro last night from Kogan. Already dispatched.

    • crap!! How much extra was it last night?

      • The price is still the same. I bought the lessor, older model for a higher price!

        OnePlus 7 Pro 6GB / 128GB for 699
        vs
        OnePlus 7T Pro 8GB / 256GB for 679

        • That’s a big difference, maybe send an email to them or call them to see if they can offer you an exchange ?

          • +1

@ozvictor: Too late, it's been dispatched. Their change of mind policy only applies to their own products.

  • Done. Awesome deal.

  • Thanks OP, great timing

  • bought one, thanks for the post

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • A little wary of the pop up camera but just bought one. Have a OnePlus 5T which has been great so hoping the 7T Pro is more of the same Oxygen goodness with a hardware bump

  • Good syze, not bhed. Bought.

  • +2

Oh no, hesitated and now it got ozbargained. Out of stock

  • I ordered one Mate 20 pro from Kogan own marketplace, it said dual-sim but turns out it's a single SIM model and Optus variant one.

The support guy is quite responsive and helpful to get me a replacement but this is kinda frustrating… Just be aware of this.

  • +1

i hate curve screen. for those who prefer flat screen i would go for the galaxy s10 lite for about $100 cheaper. same processor, bigger battery, and better camera. been using for about 6 months now. it's great.

  • Dammit. Saw this today and was planning on waiting to suss reviews tonight as was planning on getting a pixel 5

    • Same here 😞. We snooze, we lose. I should have purchased while at work

  • I have this phone.
I can't recommend it because Chrome freezes all the time when I'm browsing it's a really annoying known issue.
Won't be buying another oneplus for this reason.

    • Same thing happens on my Huawei p20 pro… i just press the square 'Overview' button to bring up the other open apps, and then go back to Chrome and it goes back to working perfectly.

      • Nope nothing works on this phone to recover from chrome freezing except closing the tab completely. Believe me I've tried everything.
I stand by my recommendation to NOT buy this phone. Such a shame though cos everything else is pretty good about it, although I won't be getting a curved screen again.

  • How does this phone compare to Oppo Reno 5G?

  • I missed grabbling a screenshot of Kogan showing the $679 price. Anyone can pm me or share some evidence of this price? Would like one to claim price protection. Thanks v much,

  • +1

Got mine today! Manufactured in March 2020, looks like new stock too

    • That's nice. Is it a China model?

      • No, Global HD1913

  • Got mine today with a build date of 2019-10-07 (assuming that's October). Is there an issue with battery life before I open it?

Also came in an unprotected satchel - really annoyed with that!!

    • +1

It is quite normal for devices with Lithium battery tech to go 12 months or more without problem. This is related to the charge they hold after manufacturer. They come from the factory with only 30-50% charge, which helps the battery stay healthy.

If you were to buy a refurb or 2nd hand device that had been stored a long time, it may have been stored with no, or full charge, which is more detrimental to the battery.

tl;dr - if not expecting to use a Lithium battery for a long time, get it to 30-50% charge beforehand.

      • 100% correct, and yes, kogan won't properly wrap your package, which is frustrating

      • Txs buddy, to be sure I've noted it to Kogan so there is an evidence trail should something arise.

I'm also not opening the package until they respond just in case…

        • +1

oh that would be fine. you can start to use it. Their support is pretty responsive though so if anything bad happens they will get it returned and refunded/replaced.

    • +1

Mine also came with build date of 2019-10-7 so probably same batch, and yeah unprotected satchel too.

      • +1

Mine came yesterday, same build date and packaging. Started to use it without any problem.

The red Oneplus box seems strong enough for protection.

        • Awesome, txs for letting me know. Cheers.

      • are they sealed in box unopened ? Does it comes with tax invoice

        • Sealed unopened, no tax invoice though but you could easily get that from the website by logging in

        • What firestint said.

      • Battery at 45%. Quite surprised actually.

  • Thought I would ask for some assistance. I've received the phone and I love it. The phone is super fast and screen is absolutely sensational. I've got an issue where I try to make a call but it just cuts out. Sometimes I'll try calling the same number again and I do get through but other times it will do the same thing and itll just cut out straight away.

Im on Boost and wondering whether it's a Telstra issue or if there's a critical band missing on my device. I thought I'd ask and see if anyone is getting the same issue prior to contacting Boost.

    • I think it's Boost, heard a lot of complaints.

    • Same here, I think Boost issue I have no idea how to fix it.

      • I’ve been making calls today with no issue so hopefully it was just a glitch.

  • Anyone have a solution to the bluetooth audio issue? The one where max volume is lower than it should be. Tried disabling absolute volume and a couple of developer options re the same/codecs etc. No difference.

    • Do you have a link to more info?

Does the Bluetooth device have it's own volume control? I've found sometimes a Bluetooth device's volume control on altered from the phone, and sometimes adjust its own and the phone has another, regardless of phone settings otherwise.

      • Apparently a known issue with oneplus phones…. that I didn't find out about until after I purchased #facepalm.

Does the Bluetooth device have its own volume control? Yes but it just means I have turn up the volume further which isn't ideal. Plus the oneplus runs a "flatter" sound irrespective of sound profiles in settings and the gain levels are vastly different when compared to my current phone through Bluetooth.

Found this as a fix but want to try something else before embarking on changing files. https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-full-dolby-atmos-equal…

        Link to issue? Here's one… https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/bluetooth-audio-on-oneplu…

        • That sounds like a major bummer. Have you tried it with different Bluetooth headsets/speakers? Are all affected the same way?

          • @norkle: Only tried it with Edifiers so far. Will try with others and see.

          • @norkle: Tried with soundbars, echo shows etc, nowhere near as pronounced in difference. I found that reducing phone volume to zero and speaker to zero then max out phone volume and slowly increase speaker volume helps… a bit.

            • +1

@CrazyDragon: Ok, it sounds similar to what I've seen on my 5T, which I think is an Android behaviour. It seems to be device specific how VOLUME is treated (no idea if that is related to the equalizer options discussed in your links).

With some devices (eg. my UE Boom) adjusting the phone volume and the speaker volume work independantly, ie. if I turn the phone down it doesn't matter how much I turn the speaker up, I don't get full volume.

With others (eg. my Plantronics BackBeat Fit) change the phone or the device works together, ie. they both adjust the same volume control, and turning either to max gives device max.

May not be what you were referring to, but may be having an additional affect.

              • @norkle: Yep very similar… On some devices only. Hopefully a fix in Android 11….maybe,fingers crossed.

  • Go mine this morning, made in March 2020

    • Lucky you. When you get a chance can you test Netflix/Stan etc and see if the HDR makes the picture darker and somewhat duller. Trying to work out if it is a software issue or a hardware issue.

  • Can’t use the warp charger and they didn’t include an adapter for it , but just throw in a 18w charger.

    • yep, but can confirm the warp charger does work with an adapter.

    • +1

They should have included an adapter instead of a Kogan lower tiered charger lol

  • Any good recommendations on a good USB C headphones?

    • Not USB-C but Bluetooth, I can recommend the TaoTronics that a lot of others on OB talk about a lot. I was skeptical until the last couple of weeks, when my son bought the SoundLiberty 79 earbuds from Amazon, and they were very decent for the $50-$60 they cost and fit his ears well, so I bought the on-ear [SoundSurge 85] (https://www.amazon.com.au/Cancelling-Headphones-TaoTronics-B…) for $71.99

Both are bluetooth, the SoundSurge can be used with a headphone lead.

These aren't hi-fi headsets, but do their job very well at a very decent price.

  • anyone notice the auto brightness issue on this phone is pretty bad? everything is good except this and the battery life. At night the screen tend to be very dim, is there any fix for it?

    • Not that I know of. I just manually change. Always have.
