Vornado 633 Air Circulator Floor Fan - Black $119 (LatitudePay Required) @ Harvey Norman

180

Credit to bennib0i for the post. Have been wanting to try these and missed all the past sales and thought $119 for the 633 seemed pretty cheap, delivery cost for me was $7.95. next closest I've found was some random on ebay for $134. Sorry if it's been cheaper before, search history was too long to go through.

  • Good Price, cheapest i (other then this) found was $149

It's the non-DC version, so this price isn't too incredible since it isn't shipped.

$149.00 with Prime shipped on Amazon.

I have one and it’s not very useful. It’s loud, you might as well save money and get the stainless steel floor fan for $50 or less, they perform more or less the same. I would say mine is a regret purchase.

Edit: mine is the 660 model, the bigger one.

Really depends on the use, I use one to push air down the corridor, which it does incredibly well due to it's ability to push air powerfully in a narrow funnel. I wouldn't use it to replace a standard fan though. It also does really well to circulate air around small to medium sized rooms, something regular fans struggle to do. Very loud though.
Loads of people buy one because they are expensive and look cool so assume they can just replace a standard pedestal fan.

      • I was planning to use to replace a fan which didn't really do much especially when oscillating.

Also got a Ronson 45cm one. Aimed at the wall to see if it would be cooler than a fan, which is was. Problem that it's pretty big.

I’m using mine as circulator too, I was upgrading from the high velocity steel floor fan, imho vornado not worth the 5x price different. It’s as loud as the steel fan and only perform slightly better.

I actually really love mine. It's there for air circulation if you buying one to directly blow at you and cool you down then it probably isn't the best.

For example if you wanted to cool a room down quickly you had your aircon on the Vornado is really effective at circulating that cool air around.

  • I have the small DC one, awesome!

Vornado fans are good for circulating air using a vortex. I would suggest getting one for use with an aircon. It doesn't have the power of a loud and irritating steel fan to push air directly at you.

If you just want something to push air really fast at you, get a loud stainless steel fan. I have the bigger one (660) and it's still quite loud on its lowest setting and hard to sleep with.

  • Air Circulator Floor Fan

    Thanks.

Will check with our OH&S Director if we should get a few of these for COVID.

    • Approved.

    • To help spread it?

  • I have an AEG fan which looks the same and is $109 at Bunnings. For those who prefer Bunnings.

Bonus, is it runs off battery and mains.

    • I have this fan and it's amazing. On its lowest it almost silent and still manages to push a heap of air.

    • Do u have a link?

      • +1

@thatsapaddlin - It’s no longer on Bunnings website. I assume since we’ve come out of winter. But my local store has always had stock.

So they’ll either get stock soon or it’s being replaced. I paid $30 for mine 4 years ago. The bottom hooks are designed to mount between rafters/joists. So you can hang it off stuff easily. I’m not a tradie.

It can be hard to clean as it’s got fine grooves. It’s not really suitable for a large room as it’s got a narrow field or breeze. But I find it great for the bedroom and back yard. When I locked at Vornado, I found it exactly the same as AEG.

  • I’m really interested in one of these but reviews are mixed. Many saying it’s noisy when turned to a decent speed and overpriced. Can’t decide but this price is good for this model so thanks. Can’t decide though if better than a $50 big w model.

One of the reviews “ It's just a fan
Don't be fooled by the marketing hype around the Vornado. Its just a floor fan, a pretty good one if that's what your'e after. ANY fan you buy 'circulates air around the room'. But if you're shopping for a quiet fan for a room, so you can sleep etc - this is not what you're looking for. We bought this for the baby room - returning it.”

    Another, “great product
We bought one of these at the start of summer haven't had to use the aircon yet. On the warmer days we've had so far we stick this fan in a corner of of our lounge room and it creates a nice breeze throughout the whole room. Would definitely recommend.”

Btw one question why go for dc version?

    • Btw one question why go for dc version?

The DC version has infinite speed control (instead of 3 set speeds), which gives you far greater control of airflow vs noise.

Yea that's why I just bought it, reading reviews and comments was getting no where, one guy said it loud and useless, next guy says it's quiet and great.

      • That guy must be deaf.

This thing is louder than the $80 steel floor fan.

        Couldnt return it quick enough.

Price of two steel floor fans (or 3 of the no names ones), doubt it can "push" more air per $.

  • Probably not relevant to this model, but I've had a steel 'old fashioned' looking Vornado running almost daily (to drown out my tinnitus at night) for 15+ years and it still works perfectly. Then again, it was given to me by the retailer as a replacement for the cheaper plastic model that arrived DOA.

Not sure what my point was, but damn that I've never had a product work so well for so long. Kind of reminds me of a lightbulb my grandparents had that lasted from the time my father was living there until the time his children came to the same place to visit their grandparents.

  • It is loud, but it's great for creating that "breeze" in the whole room instead of being dependent on where the fan direction is.

  • Got my order today, not sure why people are saying this is loud, it's not and it moves air much better than a fan facing a wall. Yes it does get loud when maxed out but so does every other fan I've tried.

Using a 45cm Ronson stainless steel fan as a comparison, max on the vornado is maybe a bit quieter than the Ronson on lowest speed. When compared to a cheap Moretti floor fan that goes for $15 or something, it's just a bit louder on all 3 settings but is comparable.

  • Are these good as directional fans?
