Wouldn't it be great if they made a special Collectors' Edition BD where you could "choose your own ending" and use all the scenes on the cutting room floor?

    • Don’t you mean wouldn’t it be good if they released the original trilogy as it was first presented in cinemas?

      • Theres always the fan made versions that are pretty much cinema accurate. Removes all the quality cgi and whatnot.

Amazing to think that this is now seen as the superior one compared to Rise.

        They all suck

I quite like TLJ, one of the few that seem to anyway. It's not without its faults but I definitely think a narratively consistent RJ Disney trilogy would have been great.

          • @OkayFray: I dunno, RJ is a massive tool - any fan that questioned his decisions he went full mental on them.

          • @OkayFray: TLJ is a recycle/reboot of Episode 4. The nostalgia is what makes it likeable IMO

  • Thanks OP !

What a missed opportunity the Disney trilogy is.

Especially when you look at something like The Mandalorian for a glimpse of what could be

I prefer The Mandalorian and liked what I saw but thought it was massively overrated.

Still, looking forward to Season 2.

    • Indeed. The trilogy felt like they created three films in isolation, only writing the next film after the previous one was released. Not sure how Disney spent so much to acquire Star Wars and then came out with something that felt so disjoint.

      • So…exactly like the original trilogy, then

        • I found the other trilogies to be far more coherent myself. The direction of TLJ and TROS seem to be actively fighting one another in regards to Reys background, Smorgs relevance etc.

I’m sure the other trilogies have holes and tone shifts, but the direction of the latest trilogy feels like directors almost fighting each other for creative control of the franchise and trying to stick it to one another by completely undoing each others plot development.

The re-introduction of the Emperor via the scrolling text was so ham fisted for something that should have been built up to in the first 10 or 15 mins of the movie. It really felt like they came time to film the third film and realised “ohh crap, we have no villain” so they just wrote one back into the rolling text.

Reminds me of the hobbit trilogy - just forgettable

      • Truly horrible.

  • Looks like it's sold out!

  • Miss out

  • I'd only pay up to $8 for the regular bluray of this. Big Star Wars fan but not really interested in watching this after the failings of ep 7 & 8…just mildly curious.

I found this one to be the best of the three actually, as did my brother who I watched it with.

I didn't like TFA because it just felt like a copy and paste of Episode 4. I hated TLJ; the casino, characters and Leia's scenes were laughably bad, but I was pleasantly surprised by TRoS. I went into it with incredibly low expectations after all the reviews, but throughout the whole movie I was legitimately confused because I was wondering what was bad about it. I was waiting for that moment that made me understand what everyone was talking about. I was expecting something even worse then TLJ but found it to be quite the opposite.

JJ Abrams should've directed all three. Maybe then there would've been some consistency. TRoS continues as if TLJ never happened. Even Abrams didn't want anything to do with TLJ.

I want to unwatch this movie.

    • Every five minutes I kept thinking to myself “This movie is so dumb…”

And it happened throughout…it just didn’t let up.

It made episode 1 look good.

  • Take my Ozbargain licensed. Paid full price on released, and regretted it after watching it :(
I was thinking JJ has a good track record right?
