Buds any good? I'm wondering if noise cancelling is beneficial for gym use, Sony don't have to have the volume cranked so high when gym music is loud?

    • +3 votes

The noise cancelling on the buds are excellent, obviously not as great as the over-ear, but it's really good. Although I would be a little hesitant to use them at the gym, it doesn't feel as secure enough. However, that could just be my ear shape.

    • +6 votes

I don’t recommend these for the gym as they don’t sit well in the red with movement .

      • +16 votes

I hate it when earbuds fall out of my red.

      •

fine for weights, but i agree. these fall out when I'm walking around cos I have bad ear shape apparently!!

      •

        Just for lifting weights?

Recommendations for $150 or less? Mainly for weights. I don't do cardio, or sweat much. I have a pair already, but I have to crank them alot so I figured notice cancellation would be better for my ears.

Hi I got some cheap stuff for using at the gym or exercises.
          SoundPEATS Trueshift2 True Wireless Earbuds

They only cost like $50 and the sound quality is exceptional. I think there $40 on Amazon. They don't fall out of my ears at all.

I also have air pod pros and sony wf-1000xm3 and there not as good as these but they are incredibly good.

Maybe worth trying out. Far better than the taotronics bh052 I had before for the same reason.

          •

@XxAiDsTaRxX: I got something similar for gym, it's just I always have them cranked up
I just wonder if noise cancellation earphones would do less damage to my eardrums 😬

        • +2 votes

You could also try the jabra elite 65t. Can be had for around $150 and I have heard good things about these.

        •

I got a pair of TaoTronics soundliberty 79s during Amazon prime day for like $40-50 and they've been great for both running and weights

      •

Yup agree, don't recommend these for heavy gym usage. I had a pair and was using them for cardio workouts. Needless to say sweat got into the ear pieces and I couldnt charge them after that. Luckily it was still under warranty and got them exchanged no question asked from addicted to audio. In terms of sound quality they are awesome great sound stage and sound quality is top notch. The thing i lovw the most about them is that when you listen to any of your favourite songs they bring out sounds and insturments that you wouldnt normally hear, takes listening to music to the next level.

    •

I use the buds at the gym and whilst running. No issues with them falling out.

    • +2 votes

The buds have great noice cancelling but they don't have a waterproof or even sweat proof grading

    •

not suitable for gym use due to lack of any waterproofing

    •

Hi - im anti apple / pro Samsung and Sony but the airpod pros are hands down the best headphone for training. Noise cancelling , snug fit, not over ear thus cool, and sweat resistant.

    •

I got a set of complyfoam tips which improves the fit and noise isolation (through better fit). With Sony's ANC works great. However don't recommend sweating in them as they are not IP rated.

    •

It seems YMMV. I use them for gym and running and they are awesome for that (for me). I use the foam tips.

Damn , really tempted to buy the Sony WH1000XM3B (Second)

    • +2 votes

I just impulse bought to get that shopback bonus…lol
      *edit The WF's
I wonder how much crusty ear wax they come with.

  • +4 votes

Dang, I had a glimmer of hope that we could use 20% off

  • +5 votes

Dang. I swear the Sony WH1000XM3B was $239 a few hrs ago?

    •

It was $249 a week ago, then dropped to $239, now $203

  •

Damn, I bought these at $239 just now. Is there any way to possibly get the altered price?

    • +1 vote

Damm, I'm in the same position, contact sony but apparently all of the support is close
Edit: bought another one, claim via paypal return postage

      •

I messaged them yesterday evening, as I also payed $239 yesterday morning. They messaged me back today assuring they’d refund the difference. Let’s see if that actually happens

        •

They said that they will check with accounting department again, not really sure what will happen

          • +2 votes

@nguyentran: This is a random reply to a dead thread, but I just got issued a $35.85 partial refund through PayPal today. It took a month, but they came through.

            •

@Kintamarama: Who did you message was it sony , ebay or PayPal claim?

              •

@bargrin: It was the the Sony eBay store, I just used the "contact seller" option in the "more actions" drop down menu when looking at my orders in the my eBay summary page.

  •

been a big day of OzB'ing for me!

      •

Me too. I'm claiming tax on these as well. Work from home but there is a construction site about 12 metres from my window. Thought about XM4 but I need to slow down lol These should be okay and will get XM4 for personal use later when the price comes down.

        •

I wonder if Sony could drop these seconds even further?

      •

    •

      •

      •

      • +1 vote

YOGIFT is only valid for people who sign up for another 12 months ebay plus and only valid on certain items. had to talk to a rep to get that info

  •

Can some one please explain to me what (Seconds^) means?

    • +3 votes

nice one. what's the discount code?

      •

        maybe PLUSFLASH

  • +1 vote

prefer bose qc35ii, similar sound quality for me, but more comfortable, lighter weight and better permeability from my feeling.
prices are similar if you could wait for deals

  •

How is the microphone quality on these? Mainly looking for office use.

    •

Maybe ok for indoor use otherwise almost unusable compare to QC35i/ii

      •

        Thanks, Will avoid

      •

Only unusable in a very loud area. Fine for walking around the town. But not great.

    • +1 vote

Mic is unusable outdoors for the earphones. Can’t tell about the headphones.

    •
  • +1 vote

ordered. if i won't like I'll sell them off or pass on to my wife.

  • +1 vote

Impulse buy. But I'll use them one day when I'm back in the office…

    •

They are great. I bought them for air travel. Same thing, one day…

  •

used last bit of my GC, paid $150 with ($10+$10) Cashback

  •

Had been eyeing these for months and finally pulled the trigger ! Now waiting for Dan to let us go back to office. …:)

    •

you were looking for new but ended up buying used/refurbed.ore then 100 bucks saved!

      • +3 votes

        username checks out

  • +2 votes

wow over 400 sold and they still have more? thats crazy

    •

Is this an indicator of how many returns they normally have on these headsets? As long as they come with warranty it should be OK .. I guess

      • +1 vote

Tbf how many have they sold worldwide? So, as a % it is probably a small amount

Also, a lot of these could simply just be change of mind but customer gave a bs reason, so they can get a refund

  •

By ‘seconds, does it mean it had been worn already?

    •

They were returned as something wrong with them, fixed up and made to look brand new again thus sold at discounted price.

I got one this week and they look ad feel flawless.

      • +1 vote

did you opt to get the $19 warranty/breakdown option

    •

Often Sony are clearing stock by selling them as seconds.

      • +2 votes

Alot of companies just refurb their products and sell it small retailers here in Australia which then get listed as new (greedy people) or send the products overseas and label as new until a new version is out. since laws are stronger sony has the decency to sell the refurbs on their eBay page no one else does that

    •

yes the product is collected and refurbed in a few different countries, transported here and sold.

  •

Is it worth getting the extra breakdown for this product , as in general it has no warranty ?

    • +1 vote

The listing says it has warranty…

What warranty is provided on purchases?

All items available to purchase on the Official Sony eBay Store are covered by a full 12 month Sony manufacturer warranty from Sony. Sony provides invoices on all purchases via an email with a PDF.

      •

Thanks , was about to buy it . But its sold out , Cheers !!

        • +1 vote

          Silver still for sale

  •

These second hand buds or Jabra ELITE 65t NEW for $139? Looking for phone calls and music.

  •

    Finally all sold out.

I assume Sony was clearing out all their old stock to make way for M4 as their ebay and online store not selling M3 any more

Therefore be interesting to see what condition these M3 come in could it be brand new stock of the now obsolete M3 that they wanted to simply clear out?

  • +1 vote

The WH1000XM3B's just arrived (Bris). They look as new. Went over them like a hawk and there's no sign of past ownership. The cups smell new as well — maybe they get replaced on seconds? Anyway these are in fantastic condition physically.

NC works great. No issue connecting to the mobile and belting out some tunes. Battery was at 90% charge. Sound quality is great. Wish I could connect to my Plenue D but I have an NW-A55 from a Prime deal on the way. Early days but so far so good :-)

    •

      mine haven't shipped yet.

      •

I ordered about 10 mins after this deal got posted. Also have eBay Plus if that makes a difference.

        •

have ebayplus as well. where are you located? i am in Melbourne maybe thats why?

          •

@twoperspectives: Maybe but you'd hope they'd ship them out by order number. Overnight from Syd to Bris by StarTrack. The invoice and tracking email arrived midday yesterday.

            •

@Haptic Feedback Man: Did you get it as new retail packaging?

              • +1 vote

@InternetExplorer: It looked new but the box was closed with tape rather than wrapped in plastic. The carry case and other stuff were as new. There were a few stickers on the box indicating it was a seconds item but they peeled off without blemish.

Not sure what firmware it came with but the app said an update was available (last fw released 28 May). Process took maybe 40+ mins.

          •

@twoperspectives: I am in Melbourne as well and I ordered right after the deal went live but got tracking details just today morning ! i think its the "Melbourne" thing :)

        • +1 vote

I’m in Melbourne, ordered 2am on 14th and received them afternoon of the 15th - very happy with them, as good as new

          • +1 vote

@hanyolo: For anyone curious you can find the manufactured date next to the bar code on the box. Mine are Nov 2019.

            •

@Haptic Feedback Man: i ordered two but obviously haven't got them yet. i was having a change of mind since one of the orders haven't been posted. I am looking at Sennheiser Momentum 2 and CX 400bt but these thing are 300 to 500 bucks.

            •

@Haptic Feedback Man: do you like yours?

          • +1 vote

@hanyolo: mine haven't arrived yet. bought on 13th @ 9PM. tracking number shows nothing but eBay says they have been posted and arrival eta is 26/10 wow!

    • +1 vote

Thats goods if it feels like new. Sad I didn't buy because of refurbished, should have bought 1.

  •
