Gaming Keyboard - Quiet and Low Profile

Does anyone know of any gaming keyboard that is very quiet, and low profile (and hopefully won't break the bank)?

SK630 with o rings doesn't sound too loud.

    • Cheers mate, do you know how it differs from the SK650?

SK650 looks to be full size while the SK630 is TKL.

        • Ah that makes sense, much appreciated :)

Dave Lee says they're aesthetically pleasing, but there are some glaring flaws that make it difficult to live with, such as the keycaps and not actually being that low profile.

I would suggest taking a look at Keychron. They're a small company with a "by mechanical keyboard enthusiasts for mechanical keyboard enthusiasts" mantra. Their K1 has low profile switches (2.5mm travel vs the typical 4mm) and is available in TKL (87 keys) and full size (104) layouts. They also have an upcoming K3 that is broadly the same, but with a 75% (84 key) form factor.

Main downside are bottom row keycaps having Mac legends instead of Windows (though they function in Windows just fine, so it is only an issue if you are a novice keyboard user and have to constantly look down) and lack of availability in Australian retailers (only MWave stocks Keychron boards and not all of them at that).

            • @non-core promise: Cheers, I'll take a look into it. (I love everything about it except for the colour scheme haha)

Its pretty loud but i recently bought this because i have keyboard fatigue after x hours. Best keyboard i have ever touched, i can spam keys all down and my wrists never get sore, the blue kalih switches make it perfect for people with similar problems.

Logitech G915 Lightspeed? You'd probably want a linear switch which basically means it doesn't have a bump or a click, making them little bit quieter.
Though I still think you'd be able to hear a lot of noises, especially if you hit the key all the way to the bottom (which is known as bottoming out).

Slight side note, while Cherry MX Red (linear) switches are quieter, they still make a lot of noises. And they are meant to be a quieter option than MX brown or blue. I have a silent mx red coming to me soon which are apparently really quiet, because they added dampener inside the switches.

Granted I've never delved too much into low profile keyboards. Keychron I think is doing a kickstarter on K3 which has an optical low profile keyboard switches which apparently are good for gaming. I am not too sure how much of the marketing talks about optical switches are true, but it's what they say.

    • Just because my keyboard came… MX silent reds are seriously seriously quiet. :P They are almost on the level of the membrane keyboard that I own in terms of how quiet it is. It does feel bit mushy compared to say MX red, but the sound of keyboard hitting the plate underneath is definitely quiet.

Though, since it does have a silicone dampener inside each switches, it does feel mushy and I feel like I am banging on it a little to fight that.
