Video Doorbell Recommendations (Avoiding Subscriptions)

Just seeing what majority of people have brand and model wise, what you like and disliked about your current or previous option.

Would like to avoid the Ring like subscriptions (Yes I realise you can use without a subscription)

Would like as a minimum
- 1080p
- wireless with replaceable batteries
- decent app without delays ( heard the August app is slow and horrible)

Also some links to deals you've noticed would be appreciated also.

I was looking at the August View Doorbell but its "coming soon" and previous model had some pretty bad reviews.

  • Do you rent or own? As mounting options seem to be a slight killer for some also, need for power ect. May not be a consideration for yourself, I too am looking but have certain requirements as I am a lowly renter :(

Get ring with subscription, when you buying it add subscription plan as part of costing.
    eg $150+ (3 years for example) $270.
That's still a good price for three years, no need to worry about external backup, or anything. All out of the box.

      Literally said “avoiding subscription”

      • I got that bit, I'm try to say, its a good deal, when you getting the good product and service.

Yeah Eufy is the way to go. You get premium features without the subscription costs but the initial investment is a bit more than a basic ring doorbell. You can pick up a Eufy doorbell for $280 when they're on sale otherwise it's normally $349

    • Thank you will def look into them

  • Eufy is the best bet. Comes with a homebase with 8gb storage and no subscription for streaming. It does rely on your internet and power supply.

It has missed a couple things but we have had to adjust the sensitivity.

There is meant to be a windows app in development but haven't any news on this lately and there is the option to save storage to a NAS.

No removable batteries unless you're brave. Fairly sure this has 18650 inside so you open it up to replace.

Eufy. 2k resolution, decent motion detection, and no subscriptions.

Fully wireless so easy to install (great if you're renting). I've had it for about 5 months in a relatively high traffic area (multiple notifications each day) and haven't had to charge the battery yet. Easy to use, the app is good, and it works with Alexa/Google home.

    I'd recommend it.

Also recommend the Eufy 2K. I think its about $290 on TGG commercial currently but gets to $279 on specials.

I bought at the start of July and only had to recharge for the first time a couple of weeks ago (camera faces street).

Indoor doorbell is very clear, app works reasonably well and all of your data is locally stored - apart from subscription concerns, I wanted to keep my video streams local.
