  • Very good price although personally will hold off as I have no use for the SAE ones

You never do, until you do

      • Yeah, half my tool purchases are 'just in case' and a good portion of the 'just in cases' have been used for something.

  • Is this a good set for work on a car?

    • Sure although you would need sockets too.

    • It's okay. Offset sets are significantly more usable.

    • It's a pretty reasonable place to start. You need to know what car you want to work on to know what will suit best.
You have an assortment of sizes in metric and SAE, which will cover most cars built over the last 40 years (and more)
However, some newer cars (VW and Audi, BMW…) use alot of torx instead. Some older cars (like a classic mini) is SAE and whitworth, and some of the gaps are so small that these wrenches wouldn't fit.
And as King Tightarse said, you will definitely need sockets too.

  • Appreciate the post and an excellent price but I have no use for the SAE components.

Waiting for another 16 piece metric deal.

  • Awesome thanks for posting! I need both SAE/Metric so this is great. Any deals on a Witworth set? :-)

  • few days ago it only $104

FYI to anyone that may be a tool novice. Finding these kits and having them have a 15mm and an 18mm is a big thing. A lot don't have them, specially at this price point. If you working on Japanese cars the 15mm will save you and for some reason Ford use 18mm on suspension components….

  • Are these made in Taiwan or China? I've been reading that some are made in China now and quality took a dive.

  • How are people storing these? are you making your own foam holders. Can see them end up in a massive mess in my drawers rather then being nice and organised.

These are 129 with a free work light at Sydney tools atm too. https://sydneytools.com.au/product/gearwrench-35720-20pce-me…

  • Need to spend $500 on gearwrench stuff to get the free light. Also I already added that link in the descripton when I posted it.

    • Thanks mate. Didn't realise.
Then again if you can buy it for a few bucks more locally in au with a warranty at a store for a few bucks more, probably not that much of a bargain.

Down to $104.08 now on same link.

  • Bit of a dumb question.

These got delivered today. The wrenches are attached to a plastic holder and I can't seem to remove them from the holder.

Are you meant to break the tabs and throw away the plastic holder?
