great, do you know if there is an option to shop online?

  • What is GUD?

  • Shop on line. Only to look at what they have for sale and the RRP so you can calculate the actual price. Doesn't look like there is an option to buy, BUT the nice thing is

"If a product is out of stock when you come into the store please tell us and we will order it in for you and then call you when it arrives. IT WILL BE AT THE SALE PRICE"

  • it is a factory shop. Everything is alwasy discounted there. Where is the bargain?

  • Looks very promising. Looking @ coffee machines and this makes me wish I were in Sydney!!

  • hmm anyone have any exp with the coffee machines?

      puts hands up

EM6900 in our family, predecessor to the current EM6910. Great unit so far, lots of coverage (both positive and negative) on coffeesnobs.com.au . Would definitely recommend at the 40% off pricepoint bringing it to $480. Cheapest I have ever seen for what is considered a prosumer-ish unit. Of course to get the most out of this machine you need to know how to use it properly, which can be either by way of lots of digging around on youtube/google for free tutorials or taking a half/one/multi day course at a local coffee making school. Latter option will cost money but totally worth it IMHO as nothing beats hands on experience with this. Once you learn the proper technique its just a matter of practice before the perfect extractions start pouring in lol

If you just want good tasting coffee from an automatic unit with hassle free maintenance, then do yourself a favour and buy the Krups Nespresso Citiz + Milk deal posted earlier for $220 delivered with 2 year AU warranty before it runs out.

      • Only issue with Nespresso units are that you are reliant on buying the pods and they can be more expensive… which doesnt appeal to my Bargain mind.

Thanks for the review of the 6900, I do need to start thinking about upgrading for my Breville Cafe Roma, its now 5 years old, although still going strong and still making great coffee

      • Cool thanks ccrap, I have a bit of exp with making coffee. I'm actually just down the road from the sunbeam outlet and am about to head there…. But Drinking coffee at the coffee roaster at the mo.
The site says that these units are pod compatible? As in nespresso pods? only asking as the partner Doesn't want to fluff around with grinding etc.

    • It appears that all their coffee machines use 15 bar pressure pump instead of 19 bar. Aldi's Expressi machine uses 19 bar and sells for $79. Although I love coffee I'm not an expert so does anyone know if the pump pressure matters when it comes to coffee taste?

      • -1

19 bar pressure extracts coffee at commerical coffee machine pressure
        so the coffee is better
        supposingly

  • Wow I hope they have the Sunbeam EM0480 grinder been chasing one for months

saw it for $148 the other day at big w, but still too much IMO.

    • That grinder is on a Sunbeam promotion at the moment - free with the EM6910 for example. However, only at "participating store". I doubt that the factory outlet is included.

  • sounds like there will be some great deals

  • Hey what do you guys think of this model? -

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/sunbeam-cafe-series-planet…

It seems really good - high wattage - Timer function (Quite unique IMO) - Planetary Mixing action and leaf shaped mixer…

For a pricetag of 300 its a bargain! However…I'm really worried about sunbeam's reputation in regards to their standmixers!!! This model was just released in August 2011 so there aren't many reviews around but…

http://www.productreview.com.au/c/food-mixers/m/sunbeam.html - As you can see sunbeam has a really bad reputation…even with their higher end models….

Anyone have experience with this model or an opinion?

  • I just hope that this factory outlet has wide coverage of models and not only a select few.

    • They say that they can order it in for you! So i think you can get most things?

      • Isn't it only for out of stock items, rather than for items not stocked at DFO?

  • So who are we a "friend" of, if pushed?

    • OP's of course - that would be Mr Aresez Wontuthri :)

  • Anyone nabbed a good deal so far?

  • Trying to, they also ask the company my "friend" working for. Is it safe to say Sunbeam, or better say GUD or something else?
Some of them also ask full name of your "friend"… So what shoud we give them?

  • would be interested to see the prices, has anyone managed to go to the sale?

    • +1

Sales are 40-50% off RRP. They have a lot of stuff that you would want. I saw the Sunbeam Gellatiseria…I also bought the Sunbeam Mixmaster Cafe Series MX9200 (new model) 500—>250 Reworked model So i was very happy. They had cafe machines, Food savers, irons…Pretty much every single sunbeam model under the sun. They weren't outdated models and there were quite a few products from the new "cafe" series. For example they had a lot of really good sandwich grills. There were also electric woks (though I wouldn't understand why anyone would cook with one). The food processors didn't seem like they were they were the newest models, but by no means obsolete. I saw a stick mixer which i bought 6months ago on sale for 40 dollars cheaper which made me sad :( There were also electric blankets (not sunbeam) which I thought was strange.

But yeah definitely worthwhile going to. They pretty much have everything on the sunbeam website (from what I saw) Just say with conviction who you know, in which company…but give a little pause so it doesn't seem rehearsed :)

  • Also interested to know prices, for grinders especially.

    • Have a look at the link. It says discount is on RRP, not price tag on the item itself.

  • Its still a good price and they have a lot of models…

Just go to the GUD website and say one of their smaller companies…I said that I knew someone at Oates and they didn't ask for a name (though the manager seemed to be grilling the other couple next to me a lot harder).

the staff member pushing me didn't push the matter and i don't think they have a database to check up where you got it from.

BTW: Avoid the blonde! She was questioning the other couple. She's actually quite attractive but resist the urge!

  • I don't know what all the fuss is about. GUD/Sunbeam decided to expand the offer to friends of GUD staff by merely requiring the sighting of this paper/notice. Possession of this paper should be the criteria, not questioning who your friends are. We have the right to reserve our privacy rights. :)

  • The prices marked were the discount anyway, didn't need voucher.

  • OMG the blonde lady pressed me for a name and the company!!! Can any1 come up with anything for me pls!!!!
