Please do a sale on the aquarium temp probe with heating/cooling itc306A or t :D

  • Temperature Measurement Accuracy:±1.0℃

  • Humidity Measurement Accuracy:±5%

That seems like it might be a wide discrepancy. OP and anyone else, would anyone be able to recommend something that's a bit more accurate on the humidity?

If you want accurate humidity measurements you will need to spend $50 or $100 or more in a scientific equipment shop.

Make the experiment - go to any shop where they sell cheap sensors like these (jaycar, bunnings, else) and and put as many sensors as you can next to each other. The readings will be within 10% of each other if you're lucky. That applies even to sensors of the same brand, model and batch.

I'm not sure what is the cheapest accurate option but I know that nothing under $40 will be accurate.

      • Hi superveggies,
I'm definitely keen to spend upwards of that much for accuracy. I've researched a bunch and it's kinda hard to tell what's actually going to yield accurate results.
I've bought a few cheaper ones, and you're absolutely right. The readings vary quite drastically.
Are there any brands or models you can recommend?

        Thanks.

        • I wish I could help more but I'm not sure mate - my experience is pretty much the same as yours.
I think your best best is to call 2 or 3 lab/scientific equipment dealers and ask them for a recommendation.

    • If you want more accurate data logger,i suggest inkbird ibs-th1 series to you.Temperature Accuracy: Typical: 0.3°C / ±0.5°F, Max: ±0.5°C / ±0.9°F (Inner sensor),±1°C (External probe)

      And it's under $40

      • Dude the person is asking for accurate HUMIDITY measurements. Why u rock up with a bunch of specs for temperature?
As far as the specs go that device doesn't even mention the accuracy for humidity.
And even if included in the description, it does not mean it actually passes the test of putting 10 of them next to each other and checking they all are within the accuracy range as claimed

      • Hi Inkbird,
Thanks for the recommendation. As superveggies also mentioned, the specs on that doesn't mention accuracy.
Curious though, is a phone a necessary requirement for that one to be used? Or can it be used independently on its own?

  • Saw this, almost bought it, but I wanted the time as well, so I jumped on aliexpress to find one which displayed time, temperature and humidity for $3.

    • Seems with all this sort of cheap Chinese stuff the price tier goes - Amazon - ebay - Aliexpress. The 'buying experience' is the reverse.

    • Link if you don't mind?

  • I wouldn't call this "recorder" as posted in the title. It doesn't record the data.
It only keeps track of min and max for the day - that's not "recording".

    • it displays current temp/humidity as well as min and max for the day

      • Is that what you call "recording"? pfffft
