Great prices for Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 for the XB1. In case you are wondering why the Fallout games are on sale on both PC and XB1 it is because of the anniversary of Fallout 3 and New Vegas I believe.

  • More broadly, they're part of this sale: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/promotions/sales/bombs-drop-sale?…

  • [PC] Fallout 76 free weekend @ Steam - ends 27/10 5am AEDT.

    • I just started playing this again. It has been improved a lot since I played it when it was first released.

  • I was hoping this would be cross play now :(

Got the GotY edition on steam from here for $15 AUD but I would have got it again for cross play.

Just remember that all bethesda games will eventually be on GamePass, so if you are a subscriber no need to buy

    • All games will eventually be under $5 or free.
Question is: how long is this "eventually"?
Unless they had it completed when they announced it, the completion of a purchase of one company by another can take many months, even years.

  • Ignore me.

No! Each of us has value and worth and if you have something that you believe in and want to share, we will respect your opinion regardless of whether we agree!

  • Is it really a good idea to buy these now Microsoft bought Bethesda? One of the reasons for the purchase is so that Microsoft can put Bethesda games in GamePass for much longer period of time, rather than short period of time each time (e.g. Fallout 4).

    • Is this your speculation or do you have a source that says this is one of the main reasons? If so, please provide a link.

Also, some people take months to finish a game as life gets in the way. For example, it would take me a lot of time to finish Fallout 4 with all its DLCs, especially since I cannot do 6 hour or longer sessions at a time anymore.
So, having game pass for $10 or so a month for say 3 month comes up to $30. I am better off buying it then, aren't I?

      • It was one or two of the youTube videos I saw when the deal was first announced. When I heard that, my first thought was Fallout 4. Fallout 4 was added to GamePass a while back and it got removed rather quickly. It did return to GamePass again later on. Not sure whether it is on or not now.

Most OZBers don't buy GamePass at $10 a month. Also, let's face it, if you haven't got / played those games now, they are clearly not that important. So far, the most I've paid per month for GamePass or GP Ultimate was $2 / month (most of the time $1 / month). Even with the refusal to pay more than $2, I still managed to play a bit of Fallout 4 on both occasions. Though, the second time wasn't as fun as the first time.

Also, there were cheaper Fallout 4 deals on PC posted before. Please don't use this buy game to own on Xbox One platform being such a huge deal. I've been burned badly buying first party exclusives (and have Microsoft added them to GamePass, causing the resell value of those games to tank dramatically). Any XBox One X | S | Series S | Series X owner not going to use GamePass (at least from time to time) is just silly.

        • To try out GP is fine. GP will not be obtainable permanently at $1 a month. Yes, you can try to keep using trials but each time you do you need a new payment method.
Plus, chances are MS are closing loopholes over time.
That is to acquire customers and make them like it.
When the price is back to normal it will be $10 or $15 a month.
Yes, Fallout has been a bit cheaper before - over 1 year ago I believe.
For me, buying a game outright is definitely more worthwhile than a subscription unless I have plenty of time to play which I do not. Plus, I am currently often playing games that are very long which is a disadvantage when using GP.
To give you an example, I have been playing one of the Dragon Age games on and off for 2 years now. Imagine the costs of the subscription as opposed to the $5 I paid for the physical copy of it.
But each to their own and it is good we have choice.

          • @Lysander: Yes, Microsoft will close the loophole for most months eventually. However, we've seen many OZBers accumulated 3 years worth at discounted price.

Playing games on and off is what I've been doing. Thing is, if you followed OZB deals, you would have collected a number of GamePass vouchers for free (I still have some). Had the GamePass PC voucher code from AMD. MS rewards - if I really really want GamePass, I could exchange some points for a voucher. For the past 3 years, Microsoft offered $1 deal around December (and for the last 2 years, November + December). You also had the join the beta program to get $1 for 3 months worth of GamePass Ultimate.

Of course, if you purchased this and Dragon Age games, you WOULD play them from time to time to justify the spending. Is the XBox version the best version to enjoy this game now though? With dynamic res up to 4K, it does mean occasionally the game dips below 30fps on XBox One X. Are we going to see a patch to bring the frame rate to 60fps on series X any time soon? The game is a bit old.

My main issue is, Microsoft had put majority of the first party exclusives I purchased on GamePass, except a couple of old ones (due to car licensing issue), I really fear Fallout 4 will eventually join GamePass in a more permanent way. Also, I am not keen to play Fallout 4 for the 3rd time.
