Some updates to the previous deal I posted. Meneater is now down to its lowest price as far as I can tell. This game is getting a free PS5 upgrade for PS4 owners, but currently, both versions are the same price on Amazon.

There's also been a few new games added: Guilty Gears - Strive, Hitman 3, Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition, and Outriders Day One Edition.

For the full list of PS5 upgrade games check out my previous deal.

Also, don't forget the pre-order price guarantee. If the price drops between order and release, you'll pay the lowest price. Also no deposit required for pre-order = pretty good. If you decide you don't want it from Amazon eventually, you can just cancel whenever.

Also, fun note. It seems the cost of the headset briefly dropped to $156.78, so those with that preordered will have a slightly cheaper amount now. Also, the DualSense 5 dropped to $105.72, so that will also be cheaper if you've pre-ordered.

$100 for PS5 games is an absolute joke. Will wait for the bargain bin

    love the chart….well done!

  • +3

Most of the PS5 games are still way too expensive for me to want to pick any of them up at launch, but I really do appreciate the chart - it makes it much easier to keep track of the prices.

Mortal Kombat 1 on the Sega Megadrive was $150 in 1995. That's like 200 something dollar now.

      • lol no it wasn't. It was more like $130 for the system and game in 1993. 1995 they were on clear out to make way for saturn stock. Here's a catalog scan to gander https://huguesjohnson.com/scans/EBChristmas93/

        • No man my mate paid 150$ for it on the Megadrive. Can't remembered the year but he definately paid that much for it. I got the Snes version and only paid $100 for it.

          • @HandsomeMonkey: maybe that was before the bargain hunting skills came into play? I agree with your analysis of the current price structure however.

        • +2

That catalogue is very cool. Worth noting that it's American and the pricing is in USD.

Can confirm the high price HandsomeMonkey mentioned. My neighbours mum bought him Mortal Kombat on mega drive for $119 in '94. I remember just looking at the price tag scratching my head trying to fathom it. At that point the most expensive thing I bought was around $1.

          • @AaronR: Here's some old Australian catalogues that might help with the pricing debates:

            https://www.gamesmen.com.au/old-catalogues

I used to buy from these. I was nowhere near a Gamesmen store. I'd just get a catalogue in the mail every so often and order things through that.

            • @garworsby: That link is awesome !

I guess the Mortal Kombat result from a 93/94 catalogue is in : https://imgur.com/a/6nR1b4E

              • @AaronR: WOW, retracted. Color me shocked. I wasn't here at the time so my mistake entirely. How did you not burn down the local Toys R Us in protest?

  • How tf is a remaster like Demon's Souls and DLC like Miles $30 more expensive than full AAA titles like AC and Far Cry??

    • Assassin's Creed is AAA?

      • Major publisher? Big budget? Big marketing campaign? Yep. It may or may not be a good game.

  • This game will also be getting a free upgrade for PS5/XSX for existing owners of PS4/Xbox versions

What if the person identifies as a woman? Typical Great White bigotry.
