  • Do you need to mention afterpay in the title?

    • I tried adding GC to the payment and it worked (I did not check out). Main thread also says they were able to checkout using non-afterpay methods so I don't think so! Happy to be amended if need be.

I know this will be enough for a 3080 build but something in me tells me to get a 850 just in case

    • +3

Given where we are headed I think 850 is definitely a good choice especially if you are planning to overclock a high-end build (I've read that some manufacturers are recommending 850w for their graphics cards already).

Also take into account these have a 10 year warranty so paying a small premium for that "future proofing" is worth it IMO, but I don't think there are any good deals atm for the 850.

If you want to OC, I'd say definitely get a 850W or even 1000W, since a 3080 FTW3 can pull above 400W, and an OC CPU could probably spikes above 200W and then extra 200W if you have lots of fans, RGB stuffs and storage

      • What if I have no extras?

        • then get a reccomended 750w

750 only has 2 8 pin PCIe cables (they are dual headed daisy chained), so get the 850 if you want to have 3 separate cables and the 3080 has 3 8 pin headers.

What do you mean by this, my 750W EVGA has 4 8 pcie pin for VGA

        • +2

I’m talking about the included cables for the Corsair model linked here. Only has 2 x dual daisy chained cables.

          • @ATangk: Ah okay makes sense

          • @ATangk: EVGA/Asus have said its fine to use daisy chain for 3x8pins. its only a worry for 2x8pins.

@Jofzar: I mean you can also do a molex to 8 pin to be a bit more certain.

    • yeah ill wait till black Friday for a good deal on the 850

      • thats what im hoping for too, 850 or better modular plus gold for under 180…… i wrekon im dreaming though lol

Got it around that price too, probably a month before my pc build (that's when the power supply shortage happened).
