Building Pool with Sewer Lines in The Way

We are planning to build an inground pool in our backyard but our sewer lines run through the middle of the yard where the pool would go. Anyone had this situation before? And any lessons learnt?

  • Divert the lines around the pool.

    • Ta, any idea of costs involved?

      • big dollars if u need to move sewar line

      • Will wildly depend on where they run, what else is around, type of pipe, type of ground etc. Get a plumber to give you a quote/estimate.

Sewer line hump, it’s like a transmission hump but for a pool.
    I’ll show myself out.

It's called a pool seat. Add a tiki bar and you've got yourself one heck of a pad.

  • We had the same thing and the quotes to bridge over the sewer line added $15,000 to the cost.
We ended up getting an above ground pool half in ground for less than half the cost of getting an in ground.
Would have preferred concrete in ground but couldn’t justify the cost getting so close to $100,000.

    • Thanks for the reply. Half in might work so we'll keep that in mind.

  • If it is the sewer main then yeah going to be costly.

If its storm water and sewer lines from your house to the main this can be probably be diverted easily and wont cost that much. You have to link the backwash and sewer anyway and will have an excavator there to do the digging.

    • Thanks - the stormwater main runs along our back fence and the sewer main is in the adjoining backyard. I'm pretty sure we'll only need to divert the sewer lines.

      • We were told sewer lines pretty easy to move when we did our pool, but as we had acid sulfate in soil and that was going to add to cost to have pool at ground level we decided to put pool 500mm above ground which made sense as our new house build had to be 1m above existing ground level due to flood prone area

We went down CDC submission path. Have neighbours from hell at the back and the list of objections they submitted to council after our initial DA was ridiculous

  • We are going through a similar situation now. Wanting to see if anyone has paid for concrete encasement of sewer mains and how much that costs?
