  • Do they still have 10% discount for gift voucher?

Does a week go by where Myer don't have a sale or "special shopping event"?!?

    • Agreed. Can't be bothered to check anymore. I found that even at supposedly 50% off, I can still find items cheaper elsewhere including delivery.

    • Exactly - and it's generally the same lines with the same/similar percentage amounts each time.

      • A friend of mine who used to work at Myer said that they usually markup the prices around 175% and more on most items (clothing, shoes etc…)
So on 40%they are still making around a whopping 120% profit..

nahh, If the markup is 175% and they're giving 40% off, they would only make a 5% profit. But I do share your sentiment.

          Using your figures, 40% off = 65% profit (before other costs). [275% x 60% = 165%].

Myers last reported margin after all costs was actually 8.2% (David Jones 10.6%)

        • 65% profit before other cost

          • 2% goes to rent
          • 2% goes to Employees
          • 2% goes to other expense (power, deco, promotion…)
          • 50% goes to CEO and other executives

          That makes sense.

  • these myer sales are never worth the time, always old crappy products and in for mens clothing it is 90% their own crappy house brands

I actually really like the Blaq myer brand clothes.

      • yes Blaq is real good. well either that or im cheap and wont buy the expensive brands. :p

  • One good thing about the sales, 10% off all cosmetics which essentially only happens like 2 times a year!

  • Still worth checking out. Need to buy some summer shorts!

  • I used to work at a kitchen retail joint with VERY good prices. When Myer had 30% off kitchenwares their prices EQUALED our usual prices. In this way (at least for kitchenware) I would be comfortable buying from them at a 40-50% discount (eg cookware sets).

    • Yes, I am not sure why anyone buys anything full price at Myer. They clearly have a lot of margin and have sales like this so often that there is no point.
