Any recommendations for where to buy good Bacon in BNE?

I'm looking for some premium bacon, can't quite figure out how to locate a good butcher. Price isn't an issue - I want some goooooood stuff for a breakfast feast.

I like thin streaky bacon, mainly.

Southside of Brisbane (East Bris, Morningside, Cannon Hill etc) recommends preferred!

Thanks, my chums.

type the words, 'butcher' into google maps and read the reviews - job done

This, plus also make sure they use Australian pork.

    • Mate, I don't know if you hear this often but you're a bloody genius.

The only issue is that not every butcher sells bacon, nor does it mention if they sell bacon in the Google maps listing (unless I'm just not looking hard enough). I know that the butcher I use are fricken awesome and I love all their meats, except their bacon isn't up to scratch.

Man we were so close to a solution, too!

I guess we'll revisit the original request for anyone's recommendations for where to buy good bacon.

Your reply seems a bit harsh to me.
Perhaps you could share your experiences about how many butcher shops you have tried and what you liked/disliked in those. Remember that no-one on here will have the same taste preferences that you do.

        • It was a little harsh but so was MrChums attempt at writing me off as being too lazy to Google Butchers in Brisbane. The reasons I've outlined to them is why just locating a good butcher is only half the story.

@ThithLord: Try Major Cuts Butchery in Morningside Central.

            • @GG57: Thx for the recommend - I will have a looksee

              • @ThithLord: No problems; it was the first listing in a google search

Perhaps a deli would be better if butchers don't have it small delis (not shopping centre delis) may. Its a hit and miss with Bacon, some is traditionally cured some not some claims to be smoked but is often primo with smoke flavour sprayed on

If in brissy, watch the TV ads for best butcher in a suburb or award winner 2020 for sausages etc ?

    • Thanks for the tips, Shannon - I'll search out delis as well now!

Meat at Billy's butchers are pretty good

    • I'll check 'em out!

      • Closest one to you would be Rosalie but the meat is pretty good and affordable.

I also like Super Butcher for affordable meat but they're on the outskirts of Brisbane

  • have you considered making your own? it's pretty straightforward and you can change up the dry brine and/or the amount of smoke/type of wood used.

Check this out to get you started.

going back to "normal" bacon can be a disappointment after you make your own :-) so buyer (bbq'er) beware
