    One word: RYZEN

    • What Ryzen chip beats this in gaming? Seems like it outperforms the 3700x which is $500…

      • +8

Rumours are the new ryzen 5000s (any of them) single core performance beats the 10900k.
        The 5600x will be ~$470.

Rumours are the next I5 will beat the Ryzen 5000

        • +2

Colour me skeptical. 5600x beating the 3600 by 20% (AMDs numbers) would only really match the 10600k. I guess we'll wait for reviews.

          • @Autonomic: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html . obviously take it with a grain of salt since it's not officially released yet and only 2 and 1 samples without saying the clock speed so they may have been overclocked or special models or something. Also passmark is not necessarily an indicator of gaming performance.

All that being said, I would definetly not be buying a cpu right now, it's ofc gonna be worth to wait a day or two to see the new cpus and how they do and then can make a decision as to if they are a good fit for you.

You buy Ryzen for all around performance, not simply single-core gaming applications. If you are only interested in gaming performance, than sure, go Intel, that makes sense. For everything else, there's Ryzen.

        • The details released so far seem to show the new gen ryzen as better even on single core.

Depends if you have AMD or intel board

Intel also has the iGPU that AMD doesnt have

      • +2

No integrated graphics on F series

        • -1

          $40 more for the 10600k

  • -2

The coming next gen Ryzens, released in a few weeks, are going to be about 20% higher single core than that chip. Reviews already out. But their prices won't be as cheap as previous Ryzens.

I went intel 10th gen, acknowledging that new Ryzen will be better, but going intel forces me to the z490 motherboard that is then compatible with the Rocket Laker series which is touted to regain top spot for single core performance again. Figured I could sell the 10600KF and replace it with an 11th gen CPU. If you have no intention of doing such a quick upgrade, then waiting for new Ryzen is a smart move.

  • RYZEN all the way . many years still 14nm, sigh

    • why do people see intel's refined 14nm as a negative, it allows them hit 5ghz easily, that's a huge advantage not disadvantage, imagine if ryzen can hit 5.3ghz…

      • because you can only refine so much? They will hit a ceiling here eventually on their ability to continually evolve/perfect their architecture.

        • they are still leading amd with a 10% clock advantage, that's the result of all that refining

evolving architecture has nothing to do with the node you're on, node shrinks give you power consumption advantages and more density not performance

      • Yes but at what power?

  • Got my 10400 $200 and asus prime b460m $100, while everyone is #AMD yes, Intel is really getting cheaper.

      competition is great

    • Good deal! Where from?

    • where?

And i got a 10900 for $530 during ebay 20% flash sale, cheap as chips

    • -1

Sorry not to mention that I got 10400 used from the marketplace for $200 pickup, Asus Prime B460m new from SaveOnIT $98 + Delivery $7.70 + GST $10.61 = $116.70. The 10400F is ~$220 as mentioned. But new ~$220+$116 is still decent.

      • not for a cut down F version

      • For comparison 3600 $260, Asus prime B550m $169 delivered, which is ~$93 more. If integraded GPU is required, 10400 at $254 is still ~$59 cheaper. But yes, get an AMD if you get any significant bargains.

I like Intel I5, byt preffer with a GPU so that I can re-use without needing a graphics card later.

  • no gpu as its an F

  • The Ryzen 5 5600X will be faster but also $449.

This is a good CPU for the price for gaming
