3D Printer for Tech Teacher Son ?

Trying to think of ideas for one of the kids. Finishes his secondary tech teacher degree early next year and has had some experience with printers during his placements.
What's the go-to 'value for money' printer these days for around $300 ?

Thanks

Ender 3/Pro has been talked about a lot.

Note once you get into the hobby, it'll just cost you more. But that's normal for all hobbies :)

    • He can wear the ongoings :-)

Probably the Ender 3 or one of its variants (Pro, V2).

    • How big can the things be for that, could you print say a shoebox size handle mount for a camera.

It would have taken you less time to type the question into Google than to post it here. However, to save you the time and effort, I googled it for you - it's 220 x 220 x 250mm

Probably not, unless you wear children's sized shoes.

It took even less time to just ask you.

  • Ender 3 again… no regrets on getting mine.

  • Thanks very much all.

    Went the Ender 3 v2

    • Good choice.

    • If you haven't bought it yet, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/578072

If you already have, sorry for maybe giving you buyers remorse :D

      • All good. Saw that price when I was buying but went through Creality store for not much more.

Exactly the same post that I was about to make. I myself am a tech teacher student that's about to finish early next year… and am looking for a budget 3D printer to learn off of too haha.

Wondering if your son went to Southern Cross, ACU or CSU?

    • lol
      nah, he's at Newcastle Uni.

  • Ender 3 again again again :D

    • Is that a good thing ?

      • Saw how many others recommended it and wanted to also make a point of how good it is. Punches way above it's weight for price. I have the V2 and don't even feel the need to mod it the prints are so clean.

  • Ok, printer has arrived.
Next question - is there a popular go-to supplier for filament ?
    Thanks
