Recommendations for a 65" 4k TV $1250 or Less

I am looking to upgrade a dated 2011 Samsung 50" Plasma and get a lower end 65" 4K TV.

My wife is thrifty and of the mind.. that the old one still works, so why spend the $$ . She isn't into tech at all :(

I want a bigger screen, so If I buy I will be limited with the funds I can spend to $1250

I can get a Samsung Educational price on a TU8000 for around that, but there are lots of options around 1K.. TCL etc … I don't have access to GG commercial I'm afraid.

Any advice appreciated. The Samsung interactive menus are relatively slow on my beast, but I'm concerned about stuff I read regarding lower end Chinese TV's.

    • Hisense definitely have the strongest warranty

OP, you could look to negotiate on the Sony X7000G if you don't want Samsung

  • I suspect the 65" LED will consume less power than the 50" Plasma, so you can tell your thrifty wife that the new TV is actually paying for itself while you watch it!

  • +1

Hisense is highly recommended. They offer 3 years warranty and the quality is good.

  • Thanks for the feedback guys .. Will go have a look at the Hisense. Didn't see it was o special.

  • Another Hisense recommendation. Have two 65". Different models but same same. Well worth the bucks, I think N series and P series without checking and paid about $1,000 - $1,1000 each. No Disney+ or Amazon but has Netflix, Youtube etc. Plasma will chew power vs an LED.

  • I am almost in the exact same boat here as @spazmodik - only slight difference is a 50 inch Plasma is my current 'secondary TV' unit. Piggybacking this thread, I am wondering why their hasn't been any mention of either of the following? What features are turning you guys to the Hisense instead?

Also keen for any thoughts on those TCLs or Hisense options and a PS5. I know I won't get VRR or 120ms at this price bracket, and have made peace with that :)

  • For $1500 you can get a the latest Sony x9000h with all the latest features. 4K, HDR, Local Dimming, HDMI 2.1, 120HZ, VRR.

    55 inch though. :(

  • I have a sony 65 inch still in box unopened bought it for 1800 from jbhifi
I would sell it for 1200 cause its sooo big to unbox 😀 as i live on my own 🙊👤
