Poll: Which Price Protection Card to Use for Samsung S20+5G Purchase?

Which Credit Card with Price Protection would you use, if you were to buy a Samsung S20+ 5G (512GB variant) right now AND HAD THE CHOICE OF 2 CARDS?

Best price I can find is $1469.20 Samsung Education EPP (with $50 subscribers promo).
Please let me know if you think 28 degrees won't consider purchases from EPP eligible for price protection.

Claim criteria comparison:

1) 28 degrees
Price drop is within 12 months
Price drop must equal/exceed $50 (I'm not 100% sure about this one, please correct me if I'm wrong here)
The price drop can be for ANY Australian vendor

2) Coles Mastercard:
Price drop is within 24 months
Price drop must be $10 or more
The price drop must be from the SAME Australian Vendor

I've held both cards for a long time and definitely have price protection insurance.

If you are buying from EPP, then 28D as EPP isn't available to all public and if they are pedantic (usually are for the bigger price drops) Coles will reject.

If you are buying from B&M, 28D has more flex as you can't guarantee that the same store will have the phone for 2 years. Amazon would probably be the only one where I would use Coles.

Minimum price drop for 28D is $10 to claim, Coles used to be the same but some people said there's no Min amount, but I wouldn't bother for less than $10 anyway. However 28D price drops can be for up to $1000, Coles is $600. Also, if you have a tendency to drop/lose your phone, 28D covers 1 year compared to Coles 6 months.

This is from 28D, Coles would be very similar

Price protection does not cover a lower price :
    - due to corporate discounts, non-public or club membership discounts, or group offers

Minimum price protect claim is definitely not $10 for either card. I've claimed less than this multiple times and never been questioned on it.

      • Can confirm, I once submitted a claim for $1 and had it approved the same day…

  • Just tagging onto this thread to ask, I'm lucky enough to have both cards as well and am about to make some significant tech purchases - which card do you think will work out better to use?

    • New laptop, and potentially even 2 of them.
    • New TV

I normally bargain at JB Hi Fi, but have no idea how long things stay on the market so unsure if Coles would be the wise choice as it's 2 years at the same vendor or just 1 year using 28 degrees as it's any vendor
