Pretty good price for Australian made, even by pre-pandemic standards.

      Hi Stayhome,

Thank you for that, given we manufacture our masks and we also have an online store to sell directly it does save a lot of money. But we were also trying to aim for the pre-pandemic competitive pricing so we could build some brand loyalty, so hopefully when you one day see us in one of the big retailers you would consider going with us first :)

    • Just ordered some, Id rather actually use fitted masks than the standard available chinese ones most use so this was good timing.

  • This may sound like a stupid question, but where is the respirator?

    • Hi KangaDrew,

No not at all :) Could you elaborate it for me more? are you referring to the reusable half face masks by any chance?

      • -1

No, I'm referring to the plastic respirator valve that is usually on a typical/disposable "P2 Respirator Mask". I can't see it in the images, but I'm also on my phone so it could be that the image isn't zoomed in enough and the valve is off to the side…

        • +2

          Hi KangaDrew,

We currently do not manufacture ones with valves due to the currently climate, but we will be adding a range with the valves next year as its more suitable and comfortable for industrial and general use. With respirators, they come both with valves and with no vales. I hope that helps :)

          • @RespaGuard Team: Yes it does, thanks for that. I was thinking forward to bushfire season vs covid but thanks for the insight.

        • +4

All the same terms, P2 = n95 face mask = respirator.

What you're referring to is an exhalation valve, which allows air to escape without needing to pass through the actual mask. It makes it much more comfortable but lowers effectiveness dramatically for filtering out your own secretions. Pre-covid era there were some masks with these, but they're pretty rare these days. Cost more too.

          • +1

@Ezuku: Futhermore as the primary reason to stop spread of covid, having a mask that lets you breathe out unfiltered is not good anyway.

          • @Ezuku: Yup, I figure everyone is probably thinking about covid, but I was thinking about the forthcoming bushfire season.

        • Whoever negged me for asking a completely legitimate question (reasoning being bushfire season vs covid) you can FOQ :-)

Have you thought about making a version with the horizontal head bands instead of ear bands?

I’m not sure about other places so maybe it’s not a large segment of industry, but the company I work for doesn’t allow us to use ear loop masks when spraying chems or in ppe designated areas. We have to have at least two horizontal bands/straps or a harness.

    • +2

Personally, I find the two horizontal bands to be more comfortable also.

      Hi Mapax,

We are working on trying to source a machine that can produce it, it's generally made by the cup masks plant machine that we currently do not have yet, however we have had quite a lot of inquiry for the headband and it is something we would need to implement, it most likely would be around the start of 2021.

      • Good to hear. If they’re competitively priced and you can get some of the industrial and agricultural distributors to stock them I’m sure they will be popular amongst Australian businesses and farmers.

        • Hi Mapax,

Thank you so much, we really do hope so and that is what we are aiming for :)

  • Just to clarify - when you say the masks are made in Australia, does that mean the materials used to construct the masks were also manufactured in Australia?

    • Hi JeBs,

The masks are made in Australia, the material needed to make the masks are sourced from a particular country overseas, this is the norm for most if not almost all manufacturers.

      • +1

What particular country do you source the materials from? I won’t be buying because when you state they’re made in Australia, the materials are not made in Australia.

In fact is there any place on your website which states the materials for your masks are sourced from overseas and not manufactured in Australia?

I'm gonna flick you a +ve for asking a genuine question and to counter the douche canoe who gave you a -ve. Probably the same one that negged my legitimate question smh

  • Hmn, anyone know a good way to make these into headband rather than warband fits? This deal seems too good to be true if so (as headbands ensure proper seal for viruses but earbands are iffy, if I understand correctly)

    • +1

      Hi MatrixM,

I'm glad you think you think our deal is great :) the current market price for the fabrics overseas has stabilized, so it surprises us why the market price here is still high, however we believe for us honesty and fair pricing is the way to go. Once we start manufacturing the headband type hopefully early 2021 we will post it on here, so keep any eye out for us here or any retailer in the future :)

I have ordered 2packs, glad to support Australian business.

    • Hi Ccrew,

Thank you for your support, it means a lot to us :)

Not wanting to be alarmist but these should not be marketed as a P2 respirator as they have ear loops. They cannot comply with AS/NZS 1716:2012 due to this. They maybe an alternative to the hundreds of other masks (not respirators) that are currently out there but would need to see test data on the filter media to be certain. These are more likely KN95 which do allow earloops but currently not recommended for any clinical or critical respiratory protection environment where protection required. If you walked onto any major construction jobsite with these and claimed they were P2 the occupational hygienist or HSE manager would not allow them as they are non compliant with our standards.

There is too much misinformation in this space now so buyer beware.

I do like the fact they are assembled in Australia.

    • Hi mickyboy1

I understand that some sites may not accept it as previously headbands were the only type of P2 respirators sold in Australia, however we've had our respirators compliance tested for the AS/NZS 1716:20 and our masks have met and passed the compliance. Currently almost all of the manufacturers in Australia produce the same P2 respirator style with the ear loops, however we are looking into getting headband ranges next year to so satisfy the demand for it :)

      • -1

Well now I know that you guys don't know how standards in Australia work. There is zero chance that these masks comply to AS/NZS 1716:2012
You can sell them but making false claims is never any good. Sell them for what they are and not what you want people to believe by misleading.

  • Cheers

Just ordered a few. Will be interesting how they compare to the AMD ones https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/556089.

    • Hi Fatty99,

Thank you for your support, we appreciate it :) we would definitely love to hear from you, email us any time and let us know how you believe it compared :)

  • I'm happy to support an Australian business, but your product does not inspire confidence when the packaging is littered with spelling and gramma mistakes… There are more, but try spotting the issues with the following sentence:

Note: Please ensure that an p2 mask Is adequate and suitable for intended uses and particles.

  • Delivery kinda kills the deal. It's a bit of a toss up of a Chinese made KN95 through Bunnings which ticks more boxes as it should (except no delivery cost), vs Aussie made "P2" which is not exactly confidently P2.

I've got some "real" P2 from bushfire days and there's a definite little differences like the straps or printing of the type and certification on the mask.
