Not valid for Novotel, even though it's not listed in the list of excluded brands. Getting "Sorry, this property does not accept coupons."

Tried Adina. Getting the same "Sorry, this property does not accept coupons."

  • Mercure excluded too

I've found a bug with this website that resulted in additional charges on checkin. I'd never use it again.

Lol that’s not bug, that’s tax. Cheap tickets adds tax at checkout

      • Is it legal for them to do that with bookings from Australia?

        • -1

Yes, because you're booking through a US website and company. They're not marketed to Australians.

Hotel chains are never eligible on cheaptickets. Have used them quite a bit pre Covid, usually save around 5-10% on a booking. They are part of Expedia group.
Noting: Charges in USD, and taxes etc aren’t added until payment page, so what seems like a real cheap price, might not be.

Some branded properties could be eligible for coupons in the past, however that is almost always not the case these days. Also more independent hotels aren't eligible these days either, which is unfortunate.

Having said that, Cheaptickets is still great for me. I usually don't bother with major brands/chains, and in my experience when comparing a hotel that is eligible for a 16% coupon then no other site can come close to the final price for the same hotel. So much so that I almost never use any other booking site (except the very similar Expedia-owned Orbitz, which has a useful VIP program).

But that only works if you're open to the narrower range of options that are eligible for the coupons. It almost certainly won't work for someone with a specific hotel or chain in mind.

      • Not a comprehensive test, but I had a quick look at a random bunch of branded properties in Sydney and Melbourne. The only eligible properties I found were some Best Western, Best Western Plus and Vibe hotels in Sydney, and the Travelodge Docklands in Melbourne.

Unfortunately some that were eligible as recently as the past 1-2 years (e.g. Meriton Suites, Ibis Melbourne Central) are ineligible these days.

  • The promo code cannot be redeemed against hotel stays at:

The deal shouldn't be portrayed as a generally available discount. There are far more exclusions than the list in the T&Cs, and it's easier just to assume that a hotel is not eligible until you've successfully tried to apply the coupon.

The value of the deal is specifically where a hotel is eligible for a coupon you probably won't be able to find a better final price for the same hotel anywhere else. (Happy to be proven wrong of course.)

  • Please dont use cheaptickets.. Such a horrible experience. Pretty much scam website and good luck with anything goes wrong..never refund money and no onshore /Australian contact centre. Only online chat that agents are terrible and they do not help and very unprofessional . me and my friend both had incidents and not recovered money ..never again
