[PS5, PS Plus] Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy & COD: Black Ops III for PS Plus Members @ PlayStation

1380

Don’t think these two games have been posted and looks like they’re new additions. Available from November 12.

Ahead of the PlayStation 5’s launch in two weeks, Sony has announced the ‘PlayStation Plus Collection’ – a free bonus for PS Plus members who purchase the new console (the collection is unavailable to PS4 users).

Basically anyone with a PS5 who pays a small monthly subscription fee to PS Plus will have access to any of the games in the collection for free.

Posted it in forums couple days ago along with other updates: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/576938

Probably best to link official PS Blog than a third party blog rehashing the info for clicks.

  • Hopefully Black Ops 3 isn't completely hacked like it is on PS4, anybody seen any news on more Ps5 stock on that note?

    • No new Aus stock till 2021 and in fact accessories are being delayed couple weeks. Best bet is to wait for launch and see if you can get onto a waitlist for those that don't pick up (EB Games will only hold your pre-order for 10 days, if you don't show up, goes to next in line).

      • I got a call saying that they will only hold for 48 hours regardless of EB level.

        • EB in Sunshine, Vic said they can hold for 4 days for me.

          • @linhlink: Interesting, I am level 4 but the person was on a bit of tangent on the phone saying people wanted to hold until Christmas.

      • Receipt says 48hrs

        • Seems to differ between stores. Call I got said had 10 days to pick it up.

      • I mean who the hell is not going to collect theirs surely everyone who got one is over the moon?

          There'll be plenty…

Some may have ordered from more than one place and get their Amazon or JB Hifi order so don't need the EB Games one.
Some will change their mind and decide to go with Xbox.
Some will have secured an RTX3000 series card now and decide to build PC.
Some people's financial situation will have changed.
Some people will be too busy with work.
Some people will no longer be with us.
          Some people may be travelling.
Some people may be ill or in quarantine.
Some people may not have mobility options to get to store.

          There's tons of reasons…

@Hybroid: Hopefully everyone is well. If in any case you are no longer interested in ps5 from Ebgames, PM me :)

          • +2

@Hybroid: Some may be too busy creating lists on OzB…..

    • +4

It's the exact same version, with the same playerbase, just playable on PS5.

  • I'm new to PS Plus - can anyone recommend the cheapest place to buy subscriptions?

    • +5

Usually just wait for when they do 40% or more off sales on the PS store and load up a few years.

      • Yep, this is the best option. Usually happens around June.

        • +1

          thanks guys

    • +1

Wait right now. There's no good deals on but either Sony or someone else might have a decent offer closer to PS5 launch.

      • Thanks guys

    • it's not much but you still get flybuys points for buying gift cards at Coles. like others have mentioned, PS has occasional 25% sale on PS+ subs

    • Sonys Annual Days of Play Sale (end of may till early June)

By several years worth of Playstation Plus membership (it stacks)

    • Black Friday.
Going off last year, was discounted to $59.95 at most retailers and from Sony directly.

Can purchase multiple cards to stack up the subscription if you want.

  • Can anyone please confirm if this is free forever or only free as long as you have a sub?

    • +4

as long as you have a sub and resub.

    • +1

Playable as long as you have an active sub. Also, it could be like mini game pass where Sony could swap games in and out… Details not clear yet.

      • Thanks for responding

      • If I read some info about it correctly, they may add or remove games in the future but if you have added them to your PSN library then you will be able to keep them, the same way PS+ games work currently

    1. Feels like PS+ is really killing it vs Xbox's Games with Gold… although still incomparable to Game Pass.
    2. So glad I traded in my NSane Trilogy a few weeks ago to EB when I traded in the PS4 Pro. Figured I already had it thanks to Humble Bundle on PC, and now I can get it back on PS5.
    • -3

"although still incomparable to Game Pass" lol you're a funny clown!
satanicsoft shitbox game pass is the worst rentals of all rentals, and it a rip off.
when it come to games, no corp can compare the quality of games Sony/Nintendo pump out…period, so your comparison is completely void.
Next time don't ever compare satanicsoft to any actual legit game corps.

    Basically anyone with a PS5

Given that having a PS5 is a requirement to benefit from this. I wonder how many OZBers can benefit from this 11 days from now.

    • +7

      Me.

    • Should be heaps, considering this awesome place is where I learned the preorder had come online. Cheers peeps

    • +2

Hopefully there will be a way to claim the games from a website so you can collect them similar to the regular PS+ games in preparation for a future PS5 purchase.

  • i wont get the ps5 till a later date but will these titles remain always in the collection it wont be removed in december? etc

    • anyone know

      • +1

It will remain, they're part of the plus collection, not the monthly games.

        • like playstation hits

  • +2

Thanks Op, does this mean if I get Hitman 3 on PS5 then I can’t play it on VR but if I buy it on PS4 I can?

‘upcoming VR releases for “Hitman 3” and “No Man’s Sky” will only be available if you buy and play the PS4 version of the games.’

    • +2

Basically, this is my interpretation reading the article.

As Sony has not announced much detail regarding VR on PS5 (other than you can get the free cable to play VR on PS5), if you want to play the VR portion of Hitman 3 and No Man's Sky, you are better off buying PS4 version (for now). The PS4 version will let you play the non-VR portion on PS5.

However, it is hard to imagine PS5 version won't be able to play Hitman 3 VR.

    • +2

Yes, only PS4 games support PSVR at this stage

  • +3

It should be available on PS4 as the ps blog says this:

The PlayStation Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PlayStation Plus members receive for a single subscription price – no additional membership fee required. Once you redeem a game from the PlayStation Plus Collection, you can keep the games for as long as you are an active PlayStation Plus member. PS4 games redeemed from the PlayStation Plus Collection and played on the PS5 console will see benefits such as increased loading speed and improved or more stable framerates with PS5’s Game Boost****.

    • I meant, is there a difference between buying the PS5 or PS4 disc version?

It kinda reads like if I buy the PS5 disc version I can’t play VR but if I buy the PS4 disc version I can.

      • +1

        wrong thread?

      • Pretty sure you meant to reply to this thread

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9548984/redir

It's hard to say at this stage as Sony have announced very little info regarding VR on PS5.

It's possible that the PS5 VR sdk isn't finished yet so PS5 titles can't use VR yet, this reference to PS4 version for these 2 games leads to believe this. I think that in the future when the PS5 updated VR headset is closer to release both of these games will have free updates released on their PS5 version to add support.

Been holding out for a decent sale on Crash forever. Activision are so stingy with sale prices.
Happily surprised to see it coming up for free.

edit: this is only for ps5? Sadness…

  • +3

While this is a great offer if you own a PS5, it still seems like bullsh*t to me that this is only available on PS5, given that it is entirely made up of PS4 games and it's the exact same subscription.

    • -2

Sony is fighting the possibility of buyer’s remorse. Some people are going to regret jumping the gun on getting a PS5. Anything that can make them feel special is a win in Sony’s book.

      • I doubt Sony care about that once they've already bought it :P

I don't know how big a factor that is anyway - anybody buying any console at launch knows they're in for a lean few months.

      • +1

No, it's not that. It's basically a welcome gift for people who did not own PS4. Here are the reasons:

        • Quite a number of the games are ex-PS Plus free games.
        • A good selection of games (in terms of genres) without hurting Sony's bottom line too much.
        • Sony cannot do GamePass because (a) Sony doesn't sell Cloud based solutions to businesses (Microsoft Azure cloud is Microsoft's bread and butter and XBox cloud based services can leverage on that) and (b) Sony exclusives tend to be single player and without loot boxes / micro-transactions.

Sony is actually using Microsoft Azure cloud (probably Microsoft offered Sony a good deal compared to Amazon AWS).

Both camps are playing on their strengths. Microsoft want to lock you into a subscription based commitment. Sony, on the other hand, is hoping some, if not most of their first party exclusives will enough to trigger a system sell for customers.

These games are stop gap for now. Honestly, if Sony's first party studios don't come up with quality titles for PS5, then Sony will be in deep trouble.

You can install games from the PS+ Collection on a PS4

Although you need a PS5 console to add all the games from the PS+ Collection to your library. Once they are added to your library you can install them on to a PS4. The games appear in your Library next to other Purchased/PlayStation Plus games (eg Fall Guys, PUBG etc).

What this means is that if you’re waiting on a PS5 but have a PS+ sub, a friend with a PS5 and still have a PS4 you could ask your friend to log in to your account on their PS5 and add the PS+ Collection games to your account. You could then play a game from the PS+ Collection on your PS4 while you wait for your PS5 order.

      • +1

Haha well that's a nice loophole! Although I don't have anybody with a PS5 that I can conveniently use :(

But the point still stands that if you're paying the same price for the same subscription then you should get access to the same content. If this collection was just freely available to PS5 owners only without needing a subscription then I wouldn't object. It's the fact that it's a subscription that that I'm already paying for but am receiving less benefit than others paying the same amount that I object to.

        • Yeah its unfortunate, PS4 owners getting shafted every day. Previously they gave PS3 and PS Vita games

          • +1

@yummycoot: Yeah, they didn't really bother me so much though - I haven't played anything on PS3 for years, and I only use my Vita when travelling and there's not much of that going on, either. The fact is that nobody is making games for either of those machines anymore, and I doubt too many people were playing the ones that got added to PS+ by the time they stopped them.

But at least ALL subscribers had access to them when they were there. At least, on a positive note, we can claim the PS5 game (Bugsnax this month) without owning a PS5 - the wording around it was a bit ambiguous when they announced it, so I'm glad it turns out that works like it always has ie you can add the game to your account even if you don't own the device yet.

  • Aww..

Anyone with a ps5 can help a good mate to claim these ? I’d be great full
