This company always has stock issues which is kinda annoying. But i guess it makes sense given their global popularity. I really wanted the CAIL but you can never get it during november.

    • +1

Have to ring the store and see if they can do a hold for you on cail. They did that for me last year

This is a shop that sells beauty creams(?).

I read the description, visited the website, and im still not 100% what is for sale… I don't think i'm the target market

    • Same here, can someone enlighten us?

      • +6

Deciem uses the ingredients to name the products opposed to the beauty standard of naming products after their desired effects.

This company is known for it's high quality and effective skincare with good active ingredients at affordable prices (The Ordinary).

    • +8

Deciem is a skincare company. The Ordinary is their cheaper line of skin care ingredients. NIOD is very expensive and higher quality and Hylamide is in between.

They made skin care ingredients/actives (like in medicine) widely accessible for the everyday consumer

Famous for The Ordinary brand, that contains simple specific ingredients, so for example moisturiser may contwin have Niacinamide, Squalane but mixed with stuffs like mineral oils and other ingredients that I can't even pronounce. The Ordinary then creates serum that only contains Niacinamide + Zinc, and another serum that contains only Squalane.

There is a sector of society who have become quite educated about skin care. These are not people who use any old "beauty cream" you can buy anywhere. These are people who read journal articles to find specific ingredients that have been demonstrated to improve skin in some way through research. These people are not looking for magic creams. They are aware that magic creams don't exist. Instead, they want ingredients and formulations that target specific issues in subtle ways over time. They have a full skin care regimen that they use in the morning, and a separate skin care regimen that they use at night. Their aim is that their skin will show small improvements over time with consistent use, and will decline at a slower rate with age.

This type of approach to skincare is very popular in Korea and Japan and has been making its way into the rest of the world gradually over the last few years.

Deciem is a company that targets these consumers. Decimen has several brands. When you look at their website and a go to a specific brand, you will see that skincare products are organised by active ingredient groups, e.g. peptides, antioxidants. People who are part of this skincare world understand these terms and will be looking for these specific ingredients. I guess it is a bit like the difference between someone who goes into a bottle shop and buys any bottle of wine that looks good and is within their price range, versus someone who is a wine connoisseur and will go to vineyards to buy very specific wine.

I think this particular company Deciem is extremely popular and successful, so the market must be quite large.

Thanks op was waiting for this

  • I just restocked at Myer last week 🤦‍♀️

    • Me too not long ago lol

  • +3

Legend, thanks so much OP! Loaded up on Hyaluronic, Moisturizing Factors, Glycolic Acid, and Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (which, for any rosacea sufferers out there, has done an amazing job in clearing mine up).

    • +2

Another vote for niacinamide and rosacea!! But I hope one day we can get the Azelaic Acid in Aus, apparently it does wonders as well! The formula I got from the pharmacy is too concentrated for me :(

      • Did you mean finacea over the counter at any pharmacy, $30 ish from memory? There is also azclear it’s less potent than finacea

        • Yeah! Finacea/Azclear (I have Azclear), but it burns the crap out of my skin. Have tried mixing it with moisturiser but to no avail

TO's Azelaic is only 10% (Azclear is 20% iirc) so I'm hoping to try it out one day!

          • @dengziyi: actually research suggests that the cream format is not as effective as the gel format so financea is actually stronger…

            • @45rpm: Perhaps you misunderstand me, Azclear is too strong for me already haha

      • +2

TO's Azelaic Acid has got to be their best product. Insane how much it cleared up my Rosacea. Legit miracle cream.

Sooooo goddamn hard to find though. Have purchased before on Asos, Amazon, Cultbeauty and a few others that ship to Aus when in stock.

  • Thanks got some more ordinary :)

  • UGH, I just bought some TO products from Priceline 2 days ago. I am a clown

    • U could always return it

      • I opened them already :/ oh well, I'll just stock up for the future

  • +1

I think a lot of their all in one products from their upper brands look good

Normally you can get 20% off ASOS plus cashback, which is around the same saving as this but much less available

    • +3

Gotta keep an eye on ASOS pricing though as sometimes they have a small markup.

      • I bought NIOD, it was $50ea and currently $60 on this sale so ASOS can be cheaper

  • +2

Everything I wanted is out of stock

    • Basically the exact same as last year, the exact products are out of stock again during the sale month

  • +1

why can't we get alpha arbutin in Australia?

    • +1

Seconding this, love it. I literally ran out of it this morning so I was super excited to see this deal. I think I bought it from Asos last time, but looks like they are out of stock :(

    • +4

I have some good news…. kinda!

TGA recently reclassified Alpha Arbutin, and it came into effect on 1st October 2020. It's now listed on Schedule 6 (poisons) as follows:

      ARBUTIN (ALPHA) except:
      in preparations for application to the face containing 2 per cent or less alpha-arbutin with hydroquinone levels of 10mg/kg or less;
      https://www.tga.gov.au/book-page/322-arbutin

So as long as The Ordinary formulation also contains hydroquinone levels under that threshold, we might see it available here when they make another batch!

      • fingers crossed!!!

  • Awesome!! Stocked up!!! Thanks!

  • +1

    Stocked up! Thanks for posting

    “Buffet” - 60ml
    Serum Foundation (1.2 N) - 30ml
    Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - 60ml
    Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - 100ml
    100% Plant-Derived Squalane

Would have liked the 2% Retinol in Squalene had it been available, but better I finish the product I have

  • Thanks, ran out of the hyaluronic acid during the year and had to buy it at full price! Stocked up now :)

  • Thanks so much!! I bought 5 bottles of the Niacinamide + Zinc 60ml a year ago and I still have a bottle left

  • Love it. My recs are:
    The Ordinary
"Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% - 30ml - got rid of all the bags and lines underneath my eyes and heals acne scars quick and now i can't live without it.
Squalane Cleanser - 50ml — great make up remover + wash
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - 30ml - got rid of all my dark spots

    • Issue with peptides apparently you can't use acids along with it, so what do you do for peels?

      • Doesn't the acid peel go away after application and rinse? It's water soluble and should be gone if you wash it away. Unless you're talking about leave-in acid, like glycolic acid toner?

        • I'm confident I read this on their website, furthermore I spoke to one of their reps and they shouldn't be used in the same skincare regime

          • @[Deactivated]: Thanks for that. I guess if you really want to, you can alternate peel on one day and pepetide on the other

            • @Kremleen: personally I would just contact the customer service and ask them about your skincare routine, and they're actually really helpful

  • well i have no idea if that will help my eczema. we shall find out in 5 weeks when it arrives.

  • +1

Does this cover the concessions in Myer..?

    • Have you tried buying any products at Myer since you posted this comment? You should be able to price match

  • Noob here - How does one get started with this?
Is there a FAQ or a specialist I can speak to? How do you decide on a night or day routine?

    Thanks!

    • +2

If you go instore, they’ll be more than happy to help. The website has a regimen guide.

The basic start would be cleanser > serum > moisturiser

    • +1

Someone referred me to this website https://www.beautifulwithbrains.com/
A few ads etc, but chose my relevant skincare routine and went from there.. found it good as a starting point

      • Thank you, will have a look see.

  • All their Granactive Retinoids are sold out :(

  • +1

great deal, but note that there is effectively no opportunity to purchase some of the more popular products at this discounted price. Some items (i.e. higher strength retinoids, CAIL) have been out of stock since 1 Nov (I've checked regularly) and we are almost at the end of the month. For those wanting to pick up a 2% granactive retinoid, though it's out of stock as a single item, it can be purchased in a set.
