    Great price with rgb

Just be aware this is the TZNC, the C designates that this is 16-19-19-39 rather than the 16-16-16-36 for the more expensive and much more hard to find kit.

    • +2

Yes, regardless though this is a great set. You're looking at the possibility of a frame or two difference at most between the two sets.

      • Yep, and considerably more expensive. I just purchased GTZR Samsung B-die from AusPCMarket the other day.

  • Are these the good ones that people look out for, something about the chipset or something?

    • +8

These aren't Samsung B-die. They're Hynix afaik, mine were at least. Still the timings are tight and it's fast, B-die are good for OC'ing but these don't really need it. They're pretty much peak performance for Zen 2 but the new Zen 3 will peak perform at 4000mhz.

      • Thank you so much for clarifying :)

      • Are they still worth it for 3rd gen?

      • Yep! Samsung B-die's I've heard are good if you're planning to overclock your RAM but if you're not, these one's do just fine :)

      • I bought these on the shop ex ebay sale 2 months ago. Perform perfectly at stock XMP timings, and I'm soon to try overclocking them. I have a Ryzen 4650G with the same memory controller as zen 3 (2x2000mhz) so will see how it goes.

Note that these have been relaunched with CL14 Samsung B die a couple of days ago so price could fall further

Short answer: Yes, built for AMD Gen 3.

      • +1

        Thank you!

      • You got a recommended MOBO?

        • +3

The one that suits your needs best. You generally get what you pay for but you have to take into account the question, do I need what I'm paying for?

        • Wasn't a ton of choice when I built mine, was basically with/without WiFi. I went the Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard.

The new Mortor's are more cost effective but have some minor limitations, like being limited to Gen3 m.2 cards. I have the Gen4 Corsair MP600's in my system, fast as F …. ferrari and well worth the price tag.

If I had a choice now I'd likely go the Mortor with Corsair MP510's instead. Almost as fast with a far better price tag.

Will this ram make me better at competitive spreadsheets?

    • +8

Along with RGB fans, yeah sure

      • +1

Only if the RGB is blue, red RGB will increase thermal throttling

    • Better perf/$ to buy a RGB mouse mat.

  • +1

Nice! I got one of these on special for my build in December 2019 @ $289. After recently getting my 2nd 2TB Corsair MP600, these were all I needed to complete my Cyberpunk 2077 system …… those and a replacement for my RTX 2070 Super to run my new 4K monitor.

Do I need a gaming chair to appreciate the pretty colours though?

    • +1

RGB gaming chair and table is a must.

      • +1

        and fridge

  • Aren't the Crucial Ballistix 2x16GB 3600MT/s CL16 better for cheaper? No RGB of course but they are Micron Rev. E.

  • +1

Are they OCable to 4000mhz? So tempting but I want to achieve peak performance with zen3

    • I think they would oc to 4000mhz easily enough. CL would just take a hit.

      • That doesn't sound ideal ay?

  • Would these be good with the upcoming Ryzen 5000 series? I heard the new Ryzen chips all need low CL and high speeds but I'm not sure if CL16 at 3600 MHZ is good enough? (I'm assuming it is but can someone with more up to date knowledge fill me in thanks :) )

    • +2

CL16 3600Mhz is the best you can get that won't break your wallet and would work just fine with the Ryzen 5000 series as far as I know. I don't think it'll impact the overall performance drastically so I'd say go for it :)

      • +1

Yeah - these aren't the best CL16 you can get from G.Skill, but the next step up is a few hundred extra to change it from CL16-19-19-39 to CL16-16-16-36

        • Just replied to another comment above, but dual posting this link. They've been relaunched this week with CL14-15-15-35. Not sure when they'll be available, but they're certain to cost a lot more than this.

  • thanks, bought a set, tried buying 2 but strictly 1 allowed.

on a side note, best suggested motherboard for 5950x?

    • +1

Any issue stacking 2 x of these kits together for 64GB?

      • your memory controller might not like it, but its chip dependent

        • +2

          why wouldnt it like it?

planning on 5950x with 64gb of these ram sticks on x570 aorus master

should i get some other combo?

          • +1

@sct911: Farkkkkk bro. What case you chucking them in?

          • +1

@sct911: if you're spending that there is better ram for you.

micron E (crucial ballistix) (linked above) might be better

if you're just planning on running stock with purdy colors then this should be ok

            • @Sheld: yup just stock with lots purdy rgb , don't know all the technicals of overclocking

my last desktop pc was a pentium d, just excited to get bac into desktops

          • @sct911: I am looking to probably get that same mb and cpu.

          • @sct911: For that budget you're planning serious work. You might be worth spending a little more to get faster ram as other replies said.

I am probably getting the 5900x, but sticking with itx form factor so only two slots. I suspect 4 slots might perform better with zen 3 due to having two controllers at 2000mhz base clock each, but haven't seen reviews IRL yet. You might find a bundle deal around black friday

  • +1

Given these aren't Samsung B die, would it be reasonable to expect the default 3600 16-19-19-36 profile to work (i.e. no crashes under stress tests) using two of these kits (64GB ram) on a medium-high end x570 board? I've been using one of these for a while now in my current mobo without issue.

  • -1

I got these for $209 about a month ago from Shopping Express.

    • +4

I suspect you got the 3200. This is 3600. It usually discounts to this price.

  • Real world difference between this kit and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/578661 ??

I just bought the 32gb kit of RipJaw as it seemed a better deal. Not sure about CL timings and Mhz yadayada

  • +1

Sorry for the noob q, but if I didn’t need RGB are these still a good buy? Or would non rgb be same performance at a cheaper price?

    • These rams are RGB. RGB is simply just for aesthetics, you can save quite a few bucks for non RGB ram. Got to check the specifications if they're same performance because not all 3600Mhz are CL16 etc.

      Hope I helped!

      • Good post OP. On RGB, you're right and it's a gimmick but I bought these these for timings. Now I've got them, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I really enjoy having the subtle unicorn vomit glow in the build!

  • +1

Great first post. Keep them coming!

    • Thanks!

  • greart post OP. Got one.
Just so that you don't miss on this like I did last time, it won't last for 3 days. Last time it went out of stock in less than a day.
it is a great ram if you are not into OC( not that you really need to OC this ) . Also almost a no brainer if you want an RGB ram.

  • +1

I have this RAM, it's fine on the default XMP profile at 3600 mhz, I can run it faster with looser timings, but it's perfect for what I need and cheap for CL16 RAM.

  • -1

I would like ot buy it but I DONT LIKE RGB!

  • Crap, waited to long. Just went to purchase and they're out of stock.

  • Back in stock but $10 more expensive

  • Can anyone confirm if there is any issues running these RAM with the default XMP profile at 3600mhz on an Asus Rog Strix B550-E?
