Dummy Proof Smart Phone for an Older Relative --- Any Good Model?

Hi all,

I am looking to prick the brains of the collective wisdom here.

I have an older relative who has a smart phone she uses to watch youtube and facebook videos and Whatsapp.

She is not technologically savvy so often times she pressed the wrong button(s) and disbale the wifi or somehow got herself into the aeroplane mode and cannot get out without my help.

Is there a smart phone that is dummy proof and does not disable wifi so easily or get into the airplane mode so easily?

Please advise.

Thank you very much.

Would have to be iPhone, for easiest to learn. Sounds like she may benefit a lot from Apple's premium support service too, they would be delighted to tell her how to get her phone out of airplane mode. Though how is she going to call them if her phone is in airplane mode…

Checkout kaios phones? They're smart feature phones.

Don't all android phones all behave the same? I've owned and configured many brands of devices for family over the years and for many generations of Android versions the quickest way to turn on / off wireless features is to swipe down the notification shade and poke at the corresponding toggles.

Why not just print out a manual and highlight the different functions

You probably could get rid of airplane mode and wifi button on the quick panel. For Samsung phones, when you drag down the quick panel, you can click on the three dot on the top and click on the button order to get rid of the buttons on the quick panel.

Iphone and disable changes with restrictions. Super glue silent button and teach how to power on and off phone.

I’ve gone though that whole process before

That’s what I did except I put the persons phone in a case to make it harder to accidentally hit the volume buttons or the silent switch and taught them how to use airplane mode.

One that plugs into the wall via a copper wire.

Android phones are a lot easier these days, and cheaper than an iphone, (unless its a 4 year old iphone 7).
Obviously being older they are on a pension? So every dollar helps.
There were Google Pixels going cheap a few months ago at HN .

  • What model phone is it BTW?
