Has Anyone Heard from TechFast on The Cost of Upgrading Their CPU to The 5000 Series?

I've noticed they're now for sale on 3rd party sites + a deal has just popped up with the 5600x.

I ordered a 3080 system in the October batch but noted I was happy to wait for
the 5000 series upgrade cost.

Just wondering if TechFast has gotten back to anyone with the upgrade cost?

I upgraded to the 3700x initially, so just wondering what the upgrade cost mightve been if people have gotten that info already.

Thanks!

No. But then again I only build my own systems.

Then why have you responded? I'm asking for those that have requested the offer by TechFast to hold off on their systems being shipped to decide on if they would like to upgrade to a 5000 series CPU.

        Thanks for the clarification

I'm just waiting for Luke to announce a new 5800X RTX3080 deal.

    • If you can wait 2 weeks for AMD GPU, I heard they stack up really good. (Smart access memory)

AMD did really well, All Ryzen 3 got 20% performance increase across the board with same or less power consumption.

      • Yes I read the news on it as well. I've been burned by the poor driver support from AMD past 5-10 years ago so more reluctant on it but will definitely wait and see if how much improvement the SAM gives

  • Have you asked Luke?
He may know whats going on with Techfast.

  • I haven't yet received an email.

I'll chase them up on Monday because this: "Existing customers who registered upgrade interest have all been emailed." https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/578949

    Isn't true lol

    Email I got:

Zen 3 upgrade pricing is as follows:

    R5 3600 to R5 5600X: $229
    R5 3600 to R7 5800X: $459
    R5 3600 to R9 5900X: $619

    R7 3700X to R7 5800X: $259
    R7 3700X to R9 5900X: $419

    R9 3900X to R9 5990X: $209

New Ryzen 7 and 9 processors do NOT have bundled coolers so will also need a minimum 120mm liquid cooler ($89) or 240mm liquid cooler ($139). The Matrexx 55 Mesh Case Upgrade ($49) [limited supply] also supports 360mm coolers ($199).

  • what did you guys end up upgrading to? I had 3700x upgrade same as OP, unsure of if i should upgrade or not

    • I'm thinking 5800x man. Seems to be the sweet spot for gaming.
I personally aim to upgrade my whole system every 2-3 years so the extra $ saved for a 1-2 fps loss on most games from the 5900x will go towards my next system!

      • -1

A sweet spot for gaming?, what does this even mean?
This cpu should game for at least 6 years unless you think getting a top tier cpu is a sweet spot?

        • Sorry I didn't mean to be rude using that phrase. I more meant value for money if you're primary use is for gaming.

I game at 1440p and most benchmarks have current AAA games with a 1-2fps difference between the 5800x and 5900x with a few exceptions of course.

          • -1

@Shaunzki: OK bro, you're paying more for less, 1440P is hardly taxing on neither CPU or GPU.
4K on the other had yes, but it's less stressful on the CPU than the GPU.
If you wanted a 1440P CPU you would go lower, like much lower as in a 3600 equivalent, spend then money you save on a better GPU.
I am not questioning your choices, just saying there are alternatives which would net you better results.

            • @[Deactivated]: I game semi-competitively at 1440,165hz. It most definitely makes a difference? How come you're assuming my use for the cpu? I've looked at various benchmarks and for me, upgrading to the 5800x is a no brainer.
I'm also getting a 3080 system as listed. I don't want to get a better gpu.

              • -1

@Shaunzki: What are you even talking about?, the benchmarks have not even been released for real world gaming.
1440P 165HZ is easy to achieve, but it all depends on the game and I get you're not gaming a latest released one either.

                • @[Deactivated]: Okay I've just realised you aren't even the OP who asked what CPU I was choosing to upgrade to. I have no clue why you are so invested in my CPU upgrade choice. If I want to upgrade to it, that's fine. If you feel that it isn't worth it, that's also fine. I've done my own research and for my situation and use of my computer in the next 2-3 years, it is the best for my current situation.
There are benchmarks available which show the difference.
Also most people from this thread are arguing they will mainly game their 3070/3080 at 1440p, something you believe wouldn't use much of the GPU's power - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/579068

As someone who has been maxing out his 1080ti for the past 2 years at 1440p, 144hz - I am looking forward to the upgrade that I will notice with the 3080 + 5800x combo.

                  • -1

@Shaunzki: Lol 3070/80 for 1440P, it's clear you don't know too much abt the hardware you're about to waste your money on, gl with that.

                    • @[Deactivated]: You haven't been gaming for long have you?
Please go do some research on 1440p at high refresh rates. 3080 is perfect for 1440p @ 144/165hz gaming.

                      • @Shaunzki: Is this your only recourse?, I'd say I have been gaming far longer than you.
3080 is far exceeding 1440p @ 144/165hz gaming as is the cpu.
I'll let you think otherwise, it's your money after-all..

                        • @[Deactivated]: Do yourself a favour and watch these videos and tell me why you believe it isn't worth it at 1440p @ 144hz. Many of these games the 3080 isn't even hitting 144hz. I really don't get your argument - you've had zero of anything to back up your claims that a 3080 at 1440p isn't worth it for those (like me) who want high resolutions.

Here are some video's for you to become more informed before trying to wrongly convince someone they are making a poor decision.
                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36VX39YrjxE&ab_channel=Bench…
                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XF4zT4NBa0&ab_channel=Joker…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDGUxbYAduU&ab_channel=Over9… video stating the bottlenecking the 3600x causes when playing warzone with 3070/3080.

This doesn't even account for those that want to play story games with Ray tracing turned on either.

I just really don't get what your point has been this whole time.
Watch those and respond, otherwise I am not bothering with someone who is being ignorant to facts/what others may want being different to your own view/needs.

                          • @Shaunzki: 5600x is the most viable option for upto date gaming released so far

  • -2

1st YT shows no proof of 3800 so nice try
2nd video you're showing an AMD game better suited to the newer 6800X
3rd video with a guy that has 48 subs/, surely you are joking right?

You have yet to show me one benchmark which is official that hinges on your supposedly needs for 1440P gaming @ 165 FPS.
Like I said it's your money, do as you please but please don't try and discredit people with links that offer absolute no proof when no official benchmarks have been released.

I'd say this link represents more truth than what you have been posting.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABcUYJWntMU

Story games @ 165 HZ eh?, yes I can see why that is needed.

    https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/11/amd-ryzen-5900x-5600x-cpu-…?

I'd take this over any information you have posted but not one official benchmark.
You have yet to list any games that require a 3800 plus 5800x @ 1440P 165HZ, the original link you posted was a poll, not what people were experiencing as performance.

  • So your first video proves my point? He is hovering around 144hz at 1440p, which is exactly what I am after.
What is your goal here? I want high refresh at 1440p lol - unsure why this is hard for you to comprehend. Cya mate, not worth my time

    • +1

So in other words you want a RYZEN 5 5600X and RTX 3070, this is what this was all about, you say I am not worth your time but I just showed you how you could do it cheaper. This is what this whole discussion has been about, yet I was the one disproving you right?
Did you even read his title?

      WARZONE RYZEN 5 5600X RTX 3070 | 1080p 1440p 4K BENCHMARK

GL in spending that extra $700 on nothing lol.

  • I'd recommend getting the 5600x if you're going to be purely gaming as the benefit of a 5800x is nearly non existent outside of workloads.

It's your money either way there is no wrong choice.

    • Yeah bingo, 5600X is a great gaming CPU, anything higher seems a waste of money, his money, his choice.

  • did anyone receive a tracking number then searched the tracking number via AUSPOST (stating 2 items?)

    • +1

Yep! One is your pc, the other is your mobo box with all cables etc.

      • Thanks, the reply I was looking for!
