Most Affordable Way to Feed 20 People from Domino's?

What is the best way to feed 20 people for a party?

Is there still such thing as $5 value pizza? Or should i just try to find the best voucher on the day? Call my local Dominos before?

How many pizzas should i buy?

They're all adult women, about half are health conscious and won't pig out like I would. They would have already had access to hot appetisers like spring rolls, potato gems, crisps and sweets.

EDIT - I didn't ask should I get Pizza.?.. but thanks.. if someone doesn't want to be my friend or talk about me because I hosted a fun, decorated party in my home where I provided them free booze and free pizza then they can feel free not to be my friend.
But luckily I've got rid of everyone like that in my life since leaving high school.

Also I didn't say my menu was healthy. It clearly is unhealthy. I worded it the wrong way by saying my half my friends are health conscious, they still eat like normal people eating junk in moderation on occasion just won't pig out on a whole pizza each.

    about half are health conscious

    • pizza
    • spring rolls
    • potato gems
    • crisps
    • sweets

You might want to rethink your menu.

It sounds like you're catering a 5yo's birthday party, not something with adult women

      lol indeed
buy some carrots, cucumbers capcium, crackers
      buy or make some dips
salad (i know cant make friends with salad)
      cheese
      ham
      bread

pizzas are cheap, 5 bucks for 7.95 for traditional pizzas

      • +1

        To add:

        Turkish bread and dips
        Fruit platters
        Sushi
Hell even make some finger sandwiches, or Subway catering style

        • +1

I will have plenty of appetisers healthy and otherwise. And I've seen every single one of these women enjoy pizza.. just in moderation. Unlike myself who doesn't do pizza moderation very well.

            @Person328231: Is Dominos pizza though?

      • Yep, carrots are dirt cheap, just have tos have them then cut them up, cupla dollas
        Same as celery

        dip can get expensive.

Good opportunity to learn to make dip. I've never gotten around to it, but instructions seem simple enough… google it

I mean they're not athletes. They will eat junk occasionally. There will also be a lot of vegan plant based options that i didn't mention because they're not very filling.

And yes it is purposely a child-like menu and party theme.

And yes it is purposely a child-like menu and party theme.

Well where's the fairy bread?! Jeeeeeeeees

        • Hey yeah! And make coffee for the adults! Always a winner

        • +1

          There will be fairy bread!

    • i think going to dominoes suggest that they're not expecting much

      • My suggestion for cheap filler food would be sausages. Fill em up with sausage sandwiches. Even gourmet ones are cheap!

$5 value pizzas still exists, see here, if you want something a bit extra then you can get a few $7.95 traditional pizzas using a code here (also accessible from 'Pages' menu on OzBargain).

Also check in case there is a customer appreciation day/weekend or a special offer at your specific store. For example you can see a few stores have $3.95 value pizzas or 50% off at the moment.

I highly doubt they could do anything better than $5 a pizza if you rang them but it wouldn't hurt, they might like the heads up in any case of a fairly big order.

Keep in mind there is a 10% surcharge on Sundays.

This is ozbargain, $1 garlic bread half a slice per person assuming there is 10 slices

  • +1

No one answered amount that I saw, but I would estimate 3 (or 4 to be safe) slices per person with other snacks. Each pizza is 8 slices, so you'd need 8-10 pizzas.

I dont think I've ever seen a girl eat half a pizza

      • I might on occasion but I would have to be pretty hungry, unlikely to be that hungry with all the other food OP is offering prior. Would maybe eat two pieces in that situation.

      • You should see the girls in my office eat when there's pizza for OT.. if I continue to work at my desk for a few more minutes, there'll be nothing left!
(They're not normally bush pigs either! haha)

        • -1

I was thinking the same thing. Show one of the girls that’s been swinging a chainsaw for 5 or 6 hours that there’s free pizza and they’ll easily eat one of those dominos ones on their own.

      • you haven't seen ma gurl then lmao

  • yup, i just recently catered the same….9 pizzas is plenty.
chicken pizzas tend to cost extra so good workaround is to buy supreme, minus some extra ingredients and replace with chicken.

Use the ozbargain -> Pages -> Pizza Coupons page and apply all the codes till you get teh cheapest total price.

The codes are stackable, so keep applying anythign and everythign until you get the cheapest price.

    • Thanks for being one of the few people that were of assistance rather than just ragging on me for saying my friends are health conscious and trying to buy them free pizza.

  • They're all adult women, about half are health conscious
How many pizzas should i buy?

    Zero

Better off getting some garden salad

    • They are not co… oh wait.

    • Haha yeah cause you make friends with salad.

I just meant to say they don't eat a lot per person. They are normal Australian women.. lol. Im not friends with a bunch of body builders, supermodels or elite athletes that can't have a few slices of pizza at a birthday party.

  • I love your menu, personally, it's wonderful, but for health conscious ladies I think they may turn a little grump…

I think you need to make some sort of mixed salads with your menu…

Go to McDonalds and get a grilled chicken ceasar salad and a greek salad from the woolworths deli fridge for inspiration and then make it yourself

If you are however still keen on the pizzas, the biggest cost is delivery so go pick them up.

    • They're not that health concious that they'd eat salad at a party. They're not athletes or body builders. I just meant they wont eat a lot per person.

Not being sexist but women talk and judge very quickly. If you decide to feed all 20 women $5 lowest quality pizza you will never recover.

Unless they all agreed or majority agreed then that's okay.

You are better off getting sushi platter for a little more, or subway platter.

    • +1

Not being sexist but women talk and judge very quickly. …. you will never recover.

That's exactly what I was just thinking too! Guys will just eat whatever and be happy!

PS: Be prepared to be negged to oblivion! haha

    • Hire a caterer. Can't risk letting those gossipy women talking about how bad your Sunday lunch was.

    • About 5 years ago, a friend hosted a small gathering, she bought la cola instead of Coke or Pepsi, till this day I'm still judging.

      • I couldnt be your friend lol

    • +1

OP you didn't initially state it was your bday, and that you were providing alcohol.
Now that the picture is more clear, the inclusion of booze would probably outweigh the low quality pizzas.
I am with you on your choice since now alcohol is provided.

It would only suck for the ladies that don't drink or eat pizza.

      • Life in general sucks for people who don't drink or eat pizza.. haha

  • bring pizza and beer and we will he friends forever lolz

    • Thanks. At least there's some grateful people out there. Im buying my friends booze and pizza on my birthday and I'm being made out to be a cheap 5 year old who won't have any friends left.. haha.

  • You could offer 20 x $1 garlic breads and cold water with a squeeze of lemon juice. Also a jar of cold cold water with cucumber slices would be a treat

  • +1

Nothing remotely healthy about your menu

    • Obviously.. but its my party and i want to get pizza. I'm not trying to have a health food party. I'm having a pizza party.

I am a vegan myself and eat 90% salads and whole food plant based diet. But for my birthday i want to indulge and get some greazy (vegan for me) pizza!

Would they really eat their own pizzas?…

  • +1

Sounds like OP has a dungeon similar to that of Alf Stewart, if you know what I'm saying..

  • Sometimes Shopback or Cashback have 50% off Pizza Hut or Dominoes up to a certain value when you spend the minimum. Got that recently and regretted it enormously.

    • Thanks for your comment

How boring …. why not mix it up a little. get creative. maybe some people don't like pizza. Include KFC, Maccas, local kabab, get creative.

    • I eat whole food plant based 90% of the time. So to have vegan pizzas on my birthday is a treat. My other friends eat healthy most of the time too so it will probably be a treat for them too.

  • $5 value pizzas

    • Thanks for your comment

  • Just go to your local pizza joint, you are likely to get a better quality pizza and a better deal. Additionally you are also supporting your local community rather than a big corp.
