Suggest a Premade Rig for WoW

My father in law's computer is on it's way out, so we're going to try to get a replacement over Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

He only plays WoW. In fact, that's pretty much all he does on the machine. Could anyone recommend a decent and somewhat future proof (again, in the context of World of Warcraft only) desktop for him? I saw a few on PCCaseGear for $1200-1300 and and that's probably the budget we'd like to stick to unless a smallish bump made a meaningful difference.

Appreciate the help!

  • wow has been around since 2003, even a 15 year old machine will run it, you dont need that much power. Any modern computer at that price range will run it.

    • Suggest you the bronze power supply upgrade with this one

  • I've got a Techfast sytem with a 1660 (non-Super) which is happily matched with my ultrawide monitor.

The link above from @pharkurnell for $800, paired with a 3440x1440 ultrawide like the Xiaomi or Kogan (nearly identical to mine) for $500ish would be an excellent combo for your budget.

why would someone who ONLY plays wow waste money on an ultrawide monitor? just because they have up to 1200 to spend doesn't mean they have to?

Next you be recommending full rgb fans 32Gb ram with rgb, and rgb Christmas lights all round the case LOL

Not gonna lie, that sounds great

Spoken like someone who's never used one, lol

        As per the OP's requirements:

        somewhat future proof

Any monitor should last a long time; and as the single thing you'll be staring at whilst actually using your PC should be where you get an upgrade - more so than any other component. The OP provided a total budget, I spent their money according to my recommendations and experience, which I stated above.

rgb Christmas lights all round the case

        'Tis the season!
