  • Nice. I don't need the case but I do need a new PSU and cooler. Hopefully black friday has something for me.

Not really a their take on it as it's about twice the size of the HZXT H1. This isnt even considered SFF.

Normal prices if purchased separately are $453 so its only a $40 saving

    • +1

I wouldn't call that twice the size unless you're counting litres of course ;)

Good thing I never called it an SFF. I said mini ITX for the pedantic members of the community.

      • The NZXT H1 is SFF and you were comparing to that.

        • I never said it was SFF. Rather it was Silverstone's take if you wanted to do a mini ITX build.

          • +2

@Clear: IMO if an ITX case isn't SFF it's not really worth it. Better to just go up a few litres to m-ATX for cheaper components and better compatibility

@caffeine69: Why go for an SFF case when you can just use a picture frame?

            • +4

              @caffeine69: Nobody:
              Literally Nobody:
              @caffeine69: Gatekeeping what SFF is

Nobody asked lmao, the company defined it as SFF that thats what theyre marketing it as lmao

@OzBanged: Precisely why I said IMO. To each their own, friend.

I'm no SFF purist, that's just my personal opinion. Many even consider <15L to be true SFF. I myself have an NR200 (18L) which I consider to be the perfect balance between component compatiblity, price, aesthetics and thermal/noise performance. I just feel that this case (the Silverstone) uses its space somewhat inefficiently and that there are better alternatives +/- 5-7 litres. Such as the CM Q500L (mATX, 33L), InWin 301 (mATX, 26L) or the aforementioned CM NR200 (ITX, but better use of space)

    tl;dw
    - 26L for an ITX case (NZXT H1 is 13.6L)
    - Exterior is mainly glass (may be a positive)
    - GPU thermal issues due to it being almost completely choked for fresh air

At this price, I'd personally wait for another H1 deal

Edit: Apparently this "AF" version has better GPU airflow, my mistake

Normal prices if purchased separately are $453 so its only a $40 saving. Works out the same as buying the non AF version for $129 (https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/cases/mini-itx/76638-sst…), then buying 2 fans. At least then you can pick your fans and would end up quieter
    $129+$169+$95=$393 + 2x120mm fans

Both fans that come on the AF version are "DC fans that are pinned at 1300rpm….i'd highly reccomend replacing these as they are quite loud"

Oh so paying $40 more is a better deal. You're a very crappy OzBargainer if you're spending more.

      • -2

Where did i say it costs $40 more? You might need to read what i wrote again

        • +1

Where is it cheaper to make your neg valid?

          • -2

@Clear: Buy the non AF version for $129 with the same PSU and cooler. Total comes to $393. Then buy 2x120mm fans of your choice.

The fans that come in the AF version are loud and non variable speed and recommended to be changed anyway

            • +1

@8azinga: The non-AF sucks though… disgusting GPU temps because there's barely any fresh air intake

      • $40 still only less than 10%. Better than nothing but not exactly a deal imo.

    • Nevermind, the site i checked said it was the same but only difference was fans.

  • anyone have advice on what case to get for a budget gaming micro atx build?

    • +1

      Phanteks P300A
      Cooler Master NR400
      Fractal Design Focus G Mini
      Corsair 4000D

      • +2

+1 to the Phanteks P300A. An excellent case I've used before!

      • Thank you, those suggestions look very promising. Will hold out for possible black friday sales.

    • For a budget case, you really missed out a few days ago but I think it still pretty good value at the $70 mark…
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/581322

If you're really on a tight budget though, ITX is not your friend, everythings more expensive… And I've seen mATX cases that are literally smaller that some ITX cases from NZXT etc.

I have this, I like it a lot, my only regret is that I couldn't find the "chocolate version"

(if you're going to put a Optical Drive in, make sure it meets the supported ODD dimensions, all you'll have it sticking out a bit at the front, jimbo style)

    • Thermaltake Versa H17 or H18 (mesh front), easy build, space for radiators.
