  • Anyone recycling their aluminium pods? Terracycle is not everywhere and it's a pain to lug a large bag of these to the nespresso store

    • Yes always recycle@nespresso shop.

    • +1

At least you have a place. We have to mail ours in at $4 a bag.

      • I thought it’s free postage.

Every month I just go down to my local Nespresso shop and throw a bag in the recycle bin and try a few free coffee.

        • Nope. Bag does fit a couple of hundred pods though.

        • Think you can buy a "prepaid postage packet" Pretty sure not free unless dropoff at nespresso or lucky to have florist that accepts them near you.

@Gandalf the Thrifty: Yep, wife buys the pre-paid bag. Stupid thing is we are in Coffs Harbour with a population of 70k+ and towns half our size have drop off places.

      • +1

Do you send in Moccona as well or do they take only Nespresso pods?

        • Hmmm, Nespresso website says their brand only. Wife says she only sends in her Nespresso ones.

  • +2

Woolworths has the 10pk on special @ $3 at the moment.

    • Thanks, bought one and cancelled the Amazon order. Didn’t like the taste. L’OR taste better for me.

  • Subscribe and save makes it 27c per pod, great deal.

    • Done, every 3 months sounds right, also Cashback - activated - so maybe?

      • Its ridiculous that its only maybe.

        • Says "up to 10%" , can also mean 0

      • None of the cashback people allow S&S orders

  • Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

  • Which machine is everybody using and what's the process like to use and clean the machine?

Do I add milk to the machine or after etc.

What is the cheapest machine to buy or what does everybody recommend?

Gonna start getting into pods but just dipping my toes in not gonna but the super deluxe extreme 9000 premium machine yet gonna start with the budget build first.

    So what's everybody recommend?

    • +1

Add milk to machine…. depends on the machine
Gonna start getting into pods…….. gonna start with the budget

Start with something like this https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/nespresso-essenza-mini-solo-c…
Had one previously doesn't get more simple ……. add water, add pod, place cup, press button, add milk/sugar to cup, drink coffee.
Must lower end machines don't include milk frother etc and thats to keep the costs low.

Now I have this machine, and never use the milk frother anyways so https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/nespresso-breville-creatista-…

Obviously shop around check this site for deals on machines etc

      • So you add milk and sugar after?

I guess you microwave the milk in another cup then add to pod machine produced coffee?

How does clean up work do you rinse it out after every use or yeah how does maintenance and clean up work.

For example a toaster you either empty out every use or when it becomes too much and as an optional you can place a large plate or tray under the toaster to catch all the crumbs easier and make cleanup easier.

What's the procedure for the pod machine?

        • So you add milk and sugar after?
I guess you microwave the milk in another cup
Depends how awake I am in the morning…….. will usually have a bit of milk/sugar already in the cup.

do you rinse it out after every use
usually at the end of the day will give the water tank and other removable parts a wash with my usual dishes…….. after each use seems excessive, though may not be depending on your water hardness/calcium build-up etc….

          how does maintenance
should say in the manual of machine how often to descale and how to do so the machine I have (turns out its this one https://www.breville.com/au/en/products/nespresso/bne800.htm… ) has a little screen on top that after each 100 coffees walks you through the decaling/cleaning process takes about 10 mins to do.

the procedure for the pod machine
should be able to find any machines manual online before purchase that will detail this step by step

a toaster you either empty out every use or when it becomes too much
for me when i smell it burning i empty the little crumb tray………….

          • @sneakydean: oh so you rinse it out every day wow damn but I guess that makes sense so you dont get build up and ants coming in to get the inside leftovers

i read up on descaling and cleaning process and wow it is pretty thorough and excessive like you have to refill the tank with water and the solution a couple times separately and run it through the process. honestly sounds like too much work and maintenance for me for just some coffee but i still want to try it out of curiousity lol maybe ill have to visit a friend to try some

thanks for the info really helpful

for now im just buying ice coffee and cold chocolate milk in cartons I know it is no where near the same but eh that is my lazy way of getting my fix if I need it and I just recycle the cartons when finished happy small semi cheap lazy system
