Air Purifier Recomendation

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of researching air purifier, need an air purifier for my room and I don't mind moving it around to different rooms. Get quite bad hay fever during this time.
Have any of you had experience with Aldi Bladeless Air Purifier?

If not I might be getting the Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H

Any recommendation?

The noise level on the blade-less fans are quite high. Do check if its within your limits before you buy.

This is correct, no matter the brand afaik (Dyson included).

Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H: this thing is impressive. I have nothing bad to say about it, it's been great. it can get fairly loud on settings 2 and 3, but setting 1 is very quiet and I occasionally forget to turn it off because I forget it's on. Hardware quality is fantastic.

You may want to consider a dehumidifier as well as an air purifier, if you react badly on humid days/nights.

EDIT: when buying air purifiers, take into consideration cost & availability of replacement filters. The Xiaomi filters can be had for ~$40.

+1 for the 3H. We bought one when the Canberra bushfires were raging and our house was filled with smoke. It had to work hard, but we managed to get the air quality down to a much more reasonable level, and only needed one for our 3 bedroom home (spare room doors shut).

It's still going strong almost a year later. We used to have it running all the time, but now just have it set to come on when the AQI levels go above a certain number. It's come in useful a few times when someone has burnt the toast! ;)

We haven't had to replace the filter yet, but it looks like they're available at a few online stores. We bought one from Kogan recently when they had a sale.

That's great! How does one achieve this functionality?

      • Another +1 for the Xiaomi Air purifier, have one and its nice. On setting 1 I forget its there, you can definitely hear it on 2 or 3 though. But once its been running for a bit it basically always stays on 1 (when set to auto anyway) for me unless something comes in my room. In which case its more of a surprise like :O its cleaning something (typically if I use my deodorant to close to it).

Also has timer settings if you use the app so you can set it to switch off when you go to work and come back on when you arrive. But since I've been working from home I just have it on 24/7.

        • It seems like Xiaomi brand is quite popular among Ozbargain here :D
          I might get it.
I just want to breathe easily haha my hayfever gets quite bad sometimes for this last 3 years, went to GP and they gave me those strong nasal sprays but doesn't help that much.

          • @froddoog: I'd recommend spending some $ and getting it checked by an ENT specialist and/or allergy specialist.

            • @andresampras: That is actually a good recommendation! I might do and get it check. How much do you think that would costs?

      • Do you think the Xiaomi 3H $212 is a good price?

  • Picked up one of these Sharp ones last weekend for $196. Did a thorough vacuum and wiped everything in the bedroom with a damp cloth. Ran the ion shower and then the unit overnight, the night mode is pretty quiet and the day settings aren't too loud.

Too early to give any feedback on its effectiveness but it seems to smell 'cleaner' if that makes sense.

    • Aaah thank you for the input, I might do some research about Sharp brand. I know many recommend Phillips as well

Oh right, budget maybe around $200+ below $300 if its possible or below $250
