First Choice Liquor: 22% Cashback (Capped at $25, 12pm-4pm AEDT) @ ShopBack

821

T&Cs1

Just saw the banner for this on the ShopBack website.

Need to spend $125 to maximise the cashback of $25 due to ex-GST tracking. (It's effectively 20% cashback on the full purchase price.)

OzBargain's favourite classy bourbon Makers Mark 46 is $60 down to $46.80 after cashback

Unfortunately, Roku Gin has been price jacked along with a fair few others.

Gentleman Jack for $41.34 after cashback is darn good.

12-4pm AEDT. Don't buy too early or late!

It's actually $125 to maximise $25 cashback. No cashback on GST. Divide by 1.1 before applying 22% to work out cashback.

    • Good point, edited
      Those figures look rounder

In Commbank Rewards, i have one atm for $15 back for a $75 at FCL also, so some may have that to boot.

    • +1

Nice work, I just found I have 10 off 50

    • +1

Thanks for the reminder, just found $5 off $25

    • are these stackable with the 22% cashback?

      • +3

Cant possibly imagine why it wouldnt be.. CommRewards simply gives you cashback when you spend on your card.. it would have no idea if you are getting cashback from somewhere else.

  • WFF? When browsing the site, this came up

    We apologize for the inconvenience…
…but your activity and behavior on this site made us think that you are a bot.

    • +5

      It happened to me once
It was my liver trying to do me favour!

    • Happens all the time to me as I always use a VPN.

Took me a while to realise that this was the cause of the glitch where trying to pay for an order kept coming up with an error. Turns out there's a bug on the website and if after you click the "Pay Now" button it decides you might be a bot, the captcha doesn't come up but instead you get a generic payment failed error.

      The workaround is easy:

      1. Open the First Choice Liquor homepage in a new tab.
      2. Verify that you're a human (the captcha will appear).
      3. Go back to the previous tab and complete your order.
      • I was browsing on my phone, and will have to use my phone as I haven't had any luck with cashback tracking on my pc/laptop for a long time.

        • You probably did too many searches in a short period of time which triggered the bot alert. (Or it's a bug ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

I use an iPad when ordering and haven't had any tracking issues.

    • I complained directly to their support email about that. Never got a response.

Are there multiple purchases allowed or is cashback capped at once per account?

    • +1

I've only ever seen you allowed to claim it once.

      • -1

Would be great to have a rep confirm.
Is there a way to contact shopback?

  • +3

Check flybuys too. I currently have 10x FB points on highest purchase and, combine with the $100 spend over 2 weeks for 8000 points.

Let's assume I spend the minimum. $100 this week. I should get 22% cashback on $91 (ex gst) - so $20 cashback. Plus 1000 points (worth $5).

Then spend $100 next week with standard cashback - will only be about $3. But will trigger 8000 points ($40).

So my spend of $200 will give me approx

$23 cashback. +9000 points ($45) = $68 discount on $200 spend. Pretty bloody good for alcohol.

    • +1

The flybuys offer only works in-store, so won't stack with cashback online. Mine is Spend $80 for two consecutive weeks and get effectively $40 back so 40/160 is 25% off, so I guess I'll be foregoing this online one.

Johnny Blue is good value at $170 after cashback if you want to impress your non-whisky drinking mates (and disappoint your whisky drinking ones).

    • +1

Glad you were sure to tell us how poor a drink it was at the end of the sentence. Saved me doing it for you.

      • +1

I wouldn't say it is a bad drink, but it definitely is a poor value choice. Many better single malts under $100 than Johnnie Blue and even Johnnie Green is better than Blue IMO.

        • +1

Agree. Nice whiskey, nothing wrong with it, but can get better bang for your buck elsewhere.

    • Check out Redbreast Irish Wiskey, a lot cheaper ~$120 and tastes divine.

  • +2

shame they've taken basically all cases of craft beer off their website so you can only buy in 4/6 packs

    • Yeah this. Literally none for me in QLD. Little creatures pale ale at the current discount is ok value but not the best beer. They have 10 packs of crankshaft not discounted but still ok value. If you're lucky enough to have balter iipa in stock you can grab a slab (16) of those.

      • Yep I can only get a buckethead session case or the 10 pack of bentspoke.
Not worth buying 4/6 packs, wait for DMs or BWS cashback.

        • The Buckethead looks like good value but can't find any reviews, looks like a Coles exclusive.

    • do you know if they normally have cases listed on their site for these craftys when its not a sale?
its a joke when they have cases in store

      • Just spoke to customer service (twice).

The first team member ("website enquires") seemed to be suggesting that they weren't selling certain beers by the carton because they weren't allowed to. Humph!

The second team member ("all other equiries") was well aware of the situation, and that Dan Murphy's allows you to buy most beers either by the case or by the pack - I suspect I'm not the first to ring up and complain.

She kindly explained that it is typically based on availability/stock levels and that they do rotate which beers can be ordered by the carton over time, especially (only?) if they go on sale. (I noticed this with the James Squire One Fifty Lashes PA - at the start of the year it was only availabile by the 6-pack; then only by the carton; and now recently back to 6-packs only.)

She said there's no way to change an order from a pack to a carton, and that there's no plan to update the website to allow choosing between packs and cartons like Dan Murphy's does.

        • unless its a RSA or stock level maintenance issue, not being able to buy slabs is ludicrous

you can go instore and buy them by the case as well

          • @Samsungnote10: yep its a joke, they used to have all craft beer by the case up until a few months (maybe more) ago when all the bigger cash back offers started.
            Simple price grab by them.

          • +1

            @Samsungnote10:

you can go instore and buy them by the case

The first Customer Support person suggested I do just that if I wanted a carton! And they repeated it even after I mentioned that you miss out on getting cashback if you do so.

Tanqueray Gin 700mL will be about $34.00 top price!

  • +1
    • got this and had $10 off $50 spend for first choice so should be 47.60

  • +1

What happened to their site? the UX arguably is awful and half the beers are missing? Where the slabs at?

  • Just a word of caution here re stock availability.
I ordered Entertainers Bundle last time this cashback deal was on 4 Nov and I am still waiting. Spent long time three times on Customer Service and am told they do not have all the items available, yet the Entertainers Bundle is still advertised today on their site !

Has anyone tried this beer, the $ vs beer ratio is tops!

    24 x 500mls for $34.30

    • +2

I've still got half a slab left. It's a bit bland, but for this price it's an OK beer

    • +1

I agree with the other poster. It's light on the hops. A real summer thirst quencher that doesn't break the bank. Good deal if your not fussy about beers and flavour profiles. I think it's still better than most light beers or those budget vietnam brewed beers marketed under supermarket brand labels.

    • Thanks for the tip. Might give it a try.

Free delivery for South Aussies on any online order over $20

  • shopback is horrible…. asked me to verify my ID again by entering code which expires in 2 minutes. the code takes 5 minutes to arrive, tried 3 times already. this sucks

    • Are you talking about the OTP after you enter your card details? That's a security feature by First Choice, not Shopback

      • no.. to login to shopback.. its been a while I used their portal so they asked me to verifiy again.. took ages…

        • OK.

    • I had problems entering the code in their app. The code arrived, but the keyboard wouldn't open when I tapped on the spot I was meant to enter it. I had to do it on a desktop.
